Whew,

Serious case of the lazies this week. Slacking on my food and working out. I will get in an easy workout today I think, just to get my head back in the game.

How is everyone else doing?

Definately better this week, after last week's very stressful family siuation took me out for the first half, and a soccer injury got me for a couple of days.  I am going to have to remember to be a little more careful on the field this coming season.  This week has been good, even though allergy season has come a little early.  I am looking forward to next week since I have a funky work schedule.  It means I should get outside more than ususal!

I tried a quick run on the treadmill this morn.  Foot is not quite ready.  At least one more week.  Getting a little nervous about IM Cali.  gonna keep on swimming and biking and hope for the best!

Hey Gang! My string of good luck of not being injured is has ended. Not to happy about it.

On Wednesday nights I play Corporate Softball with some people from my company. Last week, i tweeked my left quad a little bit which hindered my brick run on Saturday. So i took it easy this week with running, since the running bothered the quad. Well last night i really pulled it. Its not the entire quad, just the top of it near the hip flexor.  It feels like someone gave me a huge deadleg! So, i'm not sure what to do about softball. Really bummed out.

Hope everyone else is having a good week. Almost FRIDAY!!!

Man that sucks!  Make sure and rest that thing and ice, ice, ice.  I have pulled the same place and it is not nice.

Nick, that just means more swimming!Mitch, great news about the foot.I was a huge slacker last week, got a new games for the Xbox and used up my free time that way. Of course, that has me motivated to get back on program next week. I am actually in St. petersburg this weekend for a half, so that helps.Niue, good to hear you are feeling good about your training as well.Have a great weekend.

Just finished my 5k race in 33 minutes. For my first 5k (since high school!), I feel pretty good about it. I was in the back of the pack because Denver is super fit. Also I met a running buddy who told me about another one next week. Feeling pretty good! Going to focus on bike and swim this week, because I am finding my runs improve when I cross-train. Happy Sunday!

Cross training is great. For most of my training, if I get the volume my plan requires, I rarely care if it is bike or run, as long as the intensity matches.

Swim is a bit different.

Hey All,

Had a good race this weekend. Paced my wife to her new PR of 1:57:25 in a half marathon. Here is the race report.

Hoping to get my training back on track this week.

I had ordered new tires for my "race wheels" They arrived today, and I relized I had only ordered one tire. Not very useful.

I am traveling this week and next week for work, so I am trying to get a good plan around that little bit of difficulty.

Hi Everyone- I haven't been able to do anything for the last week and a half. I am still having a lot of trouble with my legs swelling up and hurting. My Orthapedic doc thinks I might have compartment syndrome. I have an appointment tomorrow to get the test to see for sure. I just wanted to post to let anyone that might have wondered where I went.

So sorry to hear that. I have a friend that went through something similar. They did get it worked out in the end, so hopefully there is some good news out there for you!

I'm happy to finally have a real answer or at least in a few hours have a real answer. If I do have this it sounds like the only thing they can do is surgery so that will put me out of commission for a bit but from what I have read most people bounce back and I'm 6-8 weeks are better than new. This is just a speed bump. I'm not done yet.

Doc was a hour and a half late spent 5 minutes with me and ordered a MRI. I was lucky enough to get in today to get it. Results tomorrow.

Hey All,

Up in the north again this week. A little tired from the early morning travel, but I managed to get in a decent workout and a run at the local gym.

I did mile intervals today warm up at 9:30, first mile at 8:00, .25 mile rest at 9:15, 1 mile at 7:30, .25 mile rest at 9:15 and final mile at 7:03 with a .25 mile cooldown.

WOW, is all I can say. I know I was probably supposed to run all three miles closer to 7:15, but I wasn't sure I had it in me. It felt great, even though it was a treadmill run. I set the incline at 1.5 to better simulate road conditions.

And why would I make myself suffer like this? #1, I took most of last week off, so I had some extra "juice". #2 I am hoping to PR at a half marathon this weekend. Looking to go 1:48 or below.

I think it is a bit of a stretch, but I have been feeling strong at 1:57 the last two half marathons I did. I just don't know if I have an extra 45 seconds per mile.

I am tempted to ride on saturday to make the weekend more of a "race rehearsal" weekend for my march 70.3, but I am up in the air.

Any thoughts?

If you really want to pr, then no ride.  knocking out a Half that fast will still do wonders for your 70.3.  Put the hammer down and hit that goal.  I pr'd last October with a 1:49.  it was an 8:22 pace and just kept it there the whole time.  I think you'll be around an 8:15 pace.  Don't start too fast and finish with your fastest mile last and you're in!

Mitch,

Here are my stats from my PR two years ago:

Place Div/Tot  Name                  City                 St Ctz Age S  6.55m   12.1m  Chiptim Guntime Pace  ===== ======== ===================== ==================== == === === = =======
 537 66/199 Elias Papatestas Aventura FL USA 37 M 56:20 1:42:22 1:49:53 1:51:49 8:32

I figure I can hit an 8:10-8:15 pace without too much struggle. Still tempted to ride the day before, we'll see how I feel when I get home.

Hey Folks! I'm going to take the idiot of the day award. I went to packet pickup for my half marathon last night, but i didnt see my name on the list. So i go to talk with someone and turns out, the deal that i bought from Active/Schwaggle was good, but i never registered after i bought it. Guess i didn't realize i had to that. Whoops. No half for me, but i plan to ride 50 tomorrow.

Lesson of the weekend: Make sure you read the full details after buying a "deal" :-)
