Yeah, it was warm up here on Saturday then cooled off a bit on Sunday. Weather forecast for next weekend looks pretty good right now. 77 on Saturday and 70 on Sunday. I'll take that. We are coming down Saturday morning to ride and then run 2 loops on Sunday before coming back.

Any suggestions for local food places with good beers on tap. Would rather stay away from the normal chains and eat at a local joint. Appreciate any and all suggestions!

Gooses Acre is a local pub/ restaurant, and it is located right on the waterway - part of the IMTX run course.  Good beer and food, decent prices.

Skipped my first scheduled run today in 22 weeks, slight body chills, nasally, etc. Hope it's just the pollen here in N. FL wreaking havoc on my sinuses. I haven't gotten sick in years. Plus I have a HIM on Saturday so volume is down. Time for me to chill out (took this week off of work). Happy training to everyone else and I too am getting excited.

Tom

Heading down to ride the course this weekend. probably wont be there in time to catch the local groups heading out but might see some of you out on the ride. Weather is looking really nice for Saturday and Sunday!

Is that little convenience store in Richards still open? How about the one in Dobbins? Plan on stopping at one or both during our ride.

Thanks!

For those that did it last year.....

The special needs stop on the bike???? Was that at the aid station at mile 50 or 60....or was it a stand alone at 56?

Trying to work out nutrition that I'll carry vs. have at SN.

Just be aware that the Pine tree pollen is crazy right now - there is a yellow film on everything down here.  Also, did 15 this morning on part of the run course along the water way.  The film of yellow covered the water as well so don't be surprised.

That's added carbs.....I'll just swallow extra water on the swim.

Oh and there were controlled burns going on in parts of the forest.  Sooo I came back last saturday smelling like I'd been to a bbq too as well as caked in yellow pollen.  Twas awesome.

Does anyone know if they set a date for the 2014 race yet? I know it is still over a year plus away, but I plan to do it in 2014.

Thanks

Great ride and run on the course this weekend. We started from the Middle School that is just north of the Walmart on Woodlands Parkway. Did the entire course north of the school, but also did the loop west of Richards twice so we would have 100 miles when we got back to the school (ended up with 102 total miles). Saturdays weather was awesome! Cool, mostly overcast, and the winds werent bad at all. Ran about 5 miles off the bike when we got to the hotel and dropped our gear, then had dinner and beers at Grimaldis. Ran the course this morning then left to come back to Dallas. All told is was 102 miles on the road and 20 miles running this weekend! Legs are tired and sore for sure!

For those who ride the course every weekend, my Garmin showed 3500 ft of elevation, but that just doesnt seem right? Ive never had much faith in the elevation on my garmin, but would like to know what some of the regulars see when the ride the course. Thanks!

Tough week for me.  I did not train at all Monday-Friday as I was recovering from a nasty cold.   Got in 12 painful run miles on Saturday and 60 on the bike today so I will mark this as a saved week.   Can't wait for the temps to start rising here in the East, my ride today was in the high 30's with my toes getting numb. I am thinking heat is going to be a problem during the race.

If you do this again, think about heading into Anderson instead of turning on 2562 after you leave Richards. It'll keep you from having to do that loop twice, and there are some pretty nice rolling hills near Anderson.
