Especially looking at everyone's 'it's-horrible-weather-but-I'm-still-going-running' posts! (My excuse is that we are in the middle of an estimated 30 hour continuous snowfall) so starting this week I'm going running an extra 2 times a week. it's on the Internet now therefore I have to do it! Everyone goes at their own pace. I feel like being part of the group makes me more accountable for getting out there and being more active, but I know I'll never match the training that some people do. Just have to find where you are comfortable and then learn how to push just beyond that. |

I felt last week that I just had too much energy left at the end of the week, so I think I need to kick it up a gear. I was speaking to the tw o triathletes who swim at the same time as me and they suggested going to the Saturday morning swim sessions with the local tri club. Looking forward to that! |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Todd, that sucks man. Hopefully it's nothing bad and she's over it quick and you don't get stuck with it too. Keiran, you should check out that swim and the tri-club. Even if you're not up for being a member you can probably find out some great local bike and running routes and get an idea of what these guys are doing for training. |

I can't really afford the membership just now but I think you can just pay on the day for the coaching. I officially signed up for my first novice triathlon! http://www.triathlonscotland.org/events/peebles-triathlonpretty nervous now but it's added some much needed pressure. |

New user 10 knoxville, tn | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed I found this new training plan on Google...what do y'all think? I'm looking for a good plan to use for an Olympic distance on May 5th so I've got to figure something out sooner than later. http://triathlete-europe.competitor.com/2011/04/14/training-plan-fastest-olympic-distance-triathlon/ I've been kind of in a lazy mood lately when it comes to training and I was hoping a new training plan would be the slump-buster I need! |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Another trainer ride tonight, The Wretched. Just 49 minutes but there were hardly any rests, held a good power level the whole time, good workout. Definitely want to raise my FTP as I was about 5% above the ride's power level most of the time. My foot is still a little off so just bike and swim for the time being. |

I don't have the video, just the coinciding TR workout, but it's a beast. I might pick up a few of the videos soon because they'll be on sale for the Tour. Not sure if I'm going to do the tour either thought. Looking at my training schedule unless I could ride early EARLY morning on some of the days, I'd lose 5 days of swimming (Sat, Sun, Wed, Sat, Sun) by doing only biking at night. With the kid and work I don't have enough time to double up workouts in the PM and still spend a few minutes with the fam. If you're there for a month will you be able to get situated enough to find a pool or a gym? That would be tough to sacrafice a race beacuse of work. Hopefully you can work it out. |

My goal is under 3 hours. I did the same tri last year in 3:03. I think I'm going to take the swim/bike off this and use another plan for runs in order to train for a HM that is 4 weeks before it. I agree the workouts are short but my goal is too increase the intensity so I can make good use of time- my free time is quicking diminishing right now! |

Member 30 Columbus, OH | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Figured i'd just check in since i havent been on here much lately! I had my first swim lesson this passed saturday, it was alright. Mostly focused on my breathing (going to every 3 strokes) and she said my form improves a lot when doing that. However i feel like i'm going to drown! Lol, so its a work in progress.... Plus she kicked my butt and had me doing sets of 200 meters with back stroke in between to keep moving. Started to feel more like a 'personal trainer' session than a nice easy swim lesson i was expecting. I go back in 2 weeks so i'll be more prepared for a workout! |

I'm just beat, I didn't want to put in a half-assed effort at the pool, my form is already bad enough. Early to bed, going to raise my FTP and have a nice fun bike ride tomorrow. |

I got the the pool much earlier this morning and did 1000m, got the hang of breathing I think (although I keep forgetting to breath out under the water). Need to work on my stroke now, make it more efficient and also my shoulder strength. Any tips for shoulder strength? |

The plan looks ok, the only thing that I see that raises any flags is that there aren't a lot of rest days in the program. Not saying you necessarily need more, but I'd be extra careful to listen to my body and be ready to go easy a couple of days if I started feeling any nagging pains.
Otherwise, go for it! |

More swimming *You could give "up and (not really) out's" a go. Go to the edge of the pool and do the motion you'd use as if you were going to push yourself up and out of the pool... but obviously don't follow all the way through (unless you are done for real!) Should be a good exercise, and convenient too.

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Got in a quick ride tonight, 45 minutes I think. I have to look. I was so upset at myself for missing my swim last night that I signed up for the Tour Of Sufferlandria. It's going to be a mess but that's alright, I'm up for the challenge. I need to start putting together a more structured training schedule once the Tour is over. I'm not sure what I want to do. My goal this year is sprints and olys and besides the swim I have the distances covered so it's more of a matter of pace on the bike and run. I have something like 16 weeks until my first race so I'm not crunched for time by any means. Also, have to pick up the new bike tomorrow. I'll throw some pictures up once it's locked and loaded in the trainer. |
