I'm in the Weight Loss Thread in the other section, but I'll post here too.

Nov.4th I weighed in at 321.5 pounds. I couldn't get up the stairs without being winded. Currently I'm running 7km, biking 30 km and swimming 1500 metres and am now down to 284 pounds with my weigh in tonight. My goal is to complete 3 sprint tri's this summer and numerous 5-10km running races as I LOVE running. I'm 6"6 so I'll always be a clydesdale regardless of how much I lose, but I want to get down to 221.5 and 100 total. Keep it up everybody!

Welcome to all our new members!

Sorry, I couldn't respond yesterday, but this thing called a job just keeps cramping my triathlon style! Although it does make it easier to pay entry fees and keep my bike on the road . I really enjoyed reading all the posts and seeing all the activity.

I ran 4.5 miles last night, the first 4 were done in 42:30 which is great for me. I don't think I've averaged sub 11 min miles for that distance before. Today is a planned rest day which I plan to take advantage of. Finally something on my plan that I don't have to figure out logistically how to fit it in.

Happy Friday to all!

Originally posted by luvschips Any recommendations on "tri suits"? I think I would feel more comfortable in a two piece but I was wondering what has worked for you all. Are they all pretty much the same or is one brand better than another. I know I can try them on at a store but I know that is a lot different than wearing it for an entire race... Thanks! Donna

I prefer a two piece and I actually LOVE skirt sports tri bottoms. I actually use the race-belt skirt over it during the run and sometimes bike. I have found that the clothes that are made by a company that specifically is for women are better than women's tri clothes from other manufacturers. Women have curves!  Even thin women have curves.

I too prefer two pieces...makes bathroom stops much easier, especially after the race when you are sweaty. I love Danskin tri clothes and skirt sports tri shorts. I agree that clothing made by companies specifically for women seem to fit better and function better for me.

I forgot to mention that I do have a couple of Danskin one piece tri suits and the advantage to these is that you don't have to deal with the shirt rolling up at the waist band. I do have to wear a sports bra under them usually though since the tops are usually too big when I get them to fit my hips. Guess that us another advantage to the two piece, you get the right size to fit your proportions.

Hi

I would love to join in on this group if possible.

I am relatively new to tri's I did my first sprint last august, and registered for the same race this coming august. I have a long way to go to reach my goals and it would be great to be with a like minded group.

Thanks,

Brien

Ok so here is the link to the recorded webinar of Fueling your Personal Best in 2014: Triathlon Nutrition. I thought it was some good info and there are some good promos at the end, but can't promise they are available for that long.

Planning a minimum half mile swim tonight at the YMCA, as a minimum workout, but it depends upon how many kids are coming home for the weekend and how the plans change quickly.  I hope everyone gets in their Friday workout as planned.

How's the weekend going for everyone. I am very low energy. I am still trying to get over this silly cold/ bug/ whatever it is. Tomorrow is shoe shopping day! I have to get some new shoes since my foot surgery has altered my foot shape. I need to get my run started back up.

Oh, the joys of shoe shopping. One of my least favorite things. Good luck!

4.25 easy on the treadmill for me today. Tomorrow is my long run. Plan calls for 110 minutes. It' looks like another treadmill run, it's cold and forecast calls for snow tomorrow.

Ughhh just had some nightmare issues doing some bike maintenance. Was changing out all my cables and one of the barrel adjusters on the down tube snapped off!!!! Then the easy out snapped off, and so the nightmare began. Ended up drilling it out and was able to retap the thread and much to my surprise the new adjuster threaded in and worked fine. Bike suffered a cpl paint dings and sticker scratches but it is a 12 year old bike and I have stickers so no one the wiser. So kids tip for the day, pay someone to work on your bike and make them own the headaches!!!

This is the exact reason why I go to my LBS. I'm not that mechanically skilled to start rebuilding. My stories always end up with buying more parts and a new tool to finish the job, rarely saving me money.

Today's motivation for me to go to gym and run 2 hours on the treadmill... Self-guilt! I knew it was a long run day and I would be totally pissed with myself if I didn't go. Well, it worked! I did 10.5 miles and felt good. So glad I did it!

10.5 miles on the treadmill is quite a physical and mental workout. Congrats! I have exactly four weeks before I need to begin my 12-week HM training plan. The plan calls for 4 runs per week, one short and easy, one interval or hill repeats, one tempo, and one long run. Since I've only been running 3 days per week, I'm going to take the next 4 weeks to ramp up my running to four per week, plus work on the other 2 sports. My workout schedule looks like this: Mon-weights/easy run, swim. Tues-bike, run. Wed-weight, swim. Thurs-bike, run. Fri-off. Sat-run. Sun-bike. Is anybody else training off some sort of plan, or just freestyling right now?
