Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Hey Teammates - I ran 3 tonight.. Who else was running "with" me? I have attached the new spreadsheet. You will see I added a couple columns. Week 2 is for the mileage you run between now and Sunday (next sunday is included in week 2) - week 3 starts next monday. Week 1-2 Total is the total mileage for weeks 1 and 2 (week 1+2) - for example I ran 11.5 last week and 3 tonight so my week 1-2 total is 14.5 (this way I can more accurately figure the % Goal whenever I add new totals). Thanks Jessica and Husker Tri Girl for stopping by. Husker - I hope you get better and can get some mileage in. Jessica - thanks for inputting some mileage in for last week. MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Baowolf, you keep harping on your age. Prove to me that you are older than this grandma and I'll let you keep on whining about your age. If you're younger than I am then I'm going to keep riding your case everytime you bring it up. Oh, I guess I should be inspiring you. You can do it OLD man. Don't let those younguns show you up. They may have grown up with computers, but your generation helped to develop them. I hear that grecian formula works really well on those gray hairs. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread I am sorry that my sense of humor is offensive to you, that my requests for help regarding the technology of how to upload pictures to an avitar appear trivial to you, that my reference to age within that context is upsetting to you, that my frustartion with the limitations of my body in progressing at a rate that is beyond my willpower to overcome is voiced in these pages, that my knowledge of the sport is relatively nonexistant and that I am seeking knowledge from, support from and understanding from those housed here on this team for running competition. My miles will be posted weekly, I will meet my goal, sorry to have been such a bother to you. Feel free to discuss at length without my intrusions, lack of punctuation, lack of spaces between lines, lack of sugar in my diet and other failings. Luck to all in your endevours. Veteran 288 Owings, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Did a run/walk of 2.72 miles last night during my daughter's soccer practice. Baowolf, I still don't get this website all the time. It took me weeks to figure out how to upload an avatar, and there's no way I can convey it to another person unfortunately, or I would try to tell you specifically how to do it. I found this article on the BT website helpful, but it can still be challenging for those of us less computer-inclined: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=61 The resizing of pictures is very time-consuming and hard for me to do. If you have a favorite college or other sports team, maybe you can copy an image from their website and upload that as your avatar. My first one was a Terp (University of Maryland Terrapins) where my son is a freshman in college. Most any picture on any website can be right-clicked and saved to your C: drive which can then be used as an avatar. Hope that helps! Keep running everyone! We're doing great! Laurie |

Veteran 228 Greenbelt, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Ugh the heat is gonna be a killer today so I'm going to put off my workout until tomorrow. It wouldn't be so bad, but my A/C is out and there's just no way I'm going to workout and then come sit in my hot apartment. Luckily the temps start diving tomorrow so I promise I'll fit in some extra laps later in the week to keep myself ahead of my mile per day average pace I promised for this challenge. Okay now back to blowing off work by looking for races to do next year. Great job so far fellow apples. |

Well I hope my humor did not get to you. You are doing awesome. I love reading your posts. Sorry if I offended you. You are a great addition to the team and doing way better than I am in miles. If you have any pictures on your computer, when you go to the control panel and choose upload a personal image, the image can be no larger than 50kb. You can also go to places like photobucket to get an image. That is where I found mine. I copied it from photobucket to my pictures and then went to the control panel and uploaded the image. Now changing it drove me crazy and I was finally able to do it with a little help from lyssa-gator. hanging my head in shame... Oh, I got my 2 miles in today for the running. Go Poison Apples! Well, what kind of avatar do you want? Here's one that would be perfect for you: http://www.evanscycles.com/product_images/Z1666B.jpg Yep. It's your new bike. Would be perfect "bike porn." (See the BT.com glossary for the definition of bike porn. OK, if you like that pic: 1) Put the cursor on it. Right click the mouse button. Select "Save Image" and save the image to your computer. 2) Go to your BT.com control panel. At the bottom, look for "upload image." (Can't remember the exact wording. If you don't see it, let me know and I'll get it.) Upload your image. And poof! It'll be done. Like magic. If this isn't clear, just let me know. I'll be back online tonight, if my meeting ends on time.... Dee |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Well gee. The Twinkie disappears for a day (due to work). And comes back to find commotion in the Apple group. Donto, who ran the Sept Challenge, had a wonderful rule regarding "smack talk." I'm going to paste it below for everyone: From Donto's introductory announcement to the Sept. Bike/Swim Challenge: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp... # Smack talking is not mandatory but certainly makes things a little more interesting & fun. # Please don’t take the smack talking personal. If you find yourself feeling like you’ve been slighted, have a cookie then post a comeback or just say something like “You’re a booger ha!” You’ll get cheers for being a good sport. Or go for a swim and cool off. The same could be said for ANY post that appears on ANY forum. Guys, we're a team. No one means anything "bad." No one here is looking to put anyone else down.... We're trying to motivate one another. And we're trying to have a good time. If someone says something that bothers you, well, as Donto said, go for a swim or a donut. Or, even better, since this is a RUN challenge, go for a run! |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Husker_Tri_Girl - 2007-10-08 7:48 PM I'm here too. I knew, as I obviously should have mentioned earlier, that I'd have trouble getting any training time in last week. That's why I committed to only 30 and not 40 miles this month. My hopes were to resume over the weekend. However, I have 3 rather deep bruises on my leg which I sustained on Saturday. I'll be fine, but I've had to stay off of it for the last couple days. Things shouldn't be quite so crazy now, so at least i'll be able to post a thread or two more often to encourage the team while I recover. Hopefully quickly!! I actually have a couple pics for ya'. (Which I'll try to get uploaded tonight.) Nothing too exciting... just a bunch of black and purple!! I'm going to go walk a while now and will try to catch ya later!! Thanks for not casting out this Poison Apple! GO TEAM!! Welcome back. Sorry to hear about your leg. Sounds icky. (And colorful.) Enjoy your walk. |

(The twinkie avatar is the penalty for last month's challenge. My team didn't win. Therefore, I have to display a twinkie avatar for this month. Bummer, eh? Could be worse - like what we'll have to display if we don't win this month's challenge!) YES, it's 6 PM and I"M STILL AT WORK! Work. Yuk. Dee |

It's freezing cold in here. (There's something wrong with the thermostat, and the chiller won't shut off. And it can't get fixed because they had to order a part, etc, etc, etc.) I actually had to go outside before just to thaw out. (It's hot out there.) Did I mention it's FREEZING in here? Brrrrr. |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Hey Team - So the results of week 1 are posted. We were #5 out of 11 teams. Way to go.. Final Standings after Week 1: WAY TO GO... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. I have attached our spreadsheet to this updated from a few minutes ago thus far for this week. We are almost at 30% (29.94) - to make sure everyone knows how to figure they are adding up all the percentages and dividing by the # of people in the group - since there are different goals (minutes/miles/etc).. Today is an off day for me. I am battling slow contractors at my house and GI issues. Will try maybe weights but not sure how that is going to go either. Will be back on the ball tomorrow. Hope you all have a great day/night.
