LowcountryTRI - 2007-10-03 2:51 PM I did the whole 4 am thing from December to April, then one day I stopped and I have not been able to do it since.

The butt-crack of Dawn runs are tough to start and easy to quit.

I was doing good with the early runs in July/August, but then I fell off that wagon...  Dangit.

My run yesterday morning (5:30) was interesting.  Thick fog.  Pitch black out.  Felt like I was running in a dream.  Very weird.  Not a huge fan of those early morning runs, but much better than trying to ride that early.  That would freak me out.

I don't mind running at that point.  I kinda enjoy it, actually.  It's just that I've been struggling with getting up.  I think the fact that it stays dark much longer is a part of it.

Darkness Fog and running is bad enough.  I did a couple bike commutes where I started out dark and foggy.  It is tough when your legs want you to go faster than your eyes can see.

Nearly ate it a couple time that day.

The thing I didn't like were the random encounters with dogs and deer in the pitch dark.  They both managed to scare the carp out of me every time.

A big a$$ deer ran past me ~11:30pm on a night time run...got the heart rate up.

I ran over a cat or a raccoon on a late night ride.  Luckily I was on a MTB.  I managed not to crash.

I had a 5:30 AM ride on a trail a month or so ago.  Sun was just barely starting to rise so there was a little light.  All of a sudden, in front of me, a nice 6 point buck is matching me at 20mph.  For about 100-200 yards.  Cool.  But scared the bejeesus out of me.

Why am I not shocked that the TAN team's thread already has 10 pages?  Sheesh, by the end of the month you'll be on PoWTT6 or something.  Do ALL of you work for the government?

I chase deer on my dirtbike... it's kinda fun. I passed one going down through a field one time... she wasn't quite sure what to do.

She probably wanted to give you the finger and tell you to take that noisy POS out of her field.

spokes - 2007-10-03 3:21 PM Thought I'd update my avatar to remind the other teams that I'm ALWAYS ready to go run... regardless of where I am, what I'm doing... the wheels are ready to GO. Muahahahahaha.

Wow, I was soooo confused by that pic. Couldn't figure out why you were on a scale, why you weren't wearing pants, etc. Now I get it. I think...=)

Why did I hit refresh?  I had his old avatar and couldn't figure out what you were saying.  Now I wish I hadn't.

Spokes... you only have to show your legs if we lose the competition.
