Added today's workout in logs, but felt like I needed to add it here for the competition.  Swam 2.4 miles (Ironman distance) in 1:34 minutes, no wetsuit.  Read em and weep Lena.  You aren't going to like tomorrow's workout.

Wow, Billy and Lena are sure ramping it up!

Got a nice 46mile + ride in today.  Hoping to get a long run in tomorrow.  One long swim next week then its taper time.  Work calmed down a little today.  Tried to mow today.  Got the riding mower stuck, got it out, then it ran out of gas, 5 gas cans with nothing in them, trip to the gas station.  LOL!

LRR/Mav- one question.  Rethinking liquids.  May change to two bottles of infinit and pick up gatorade on the course.  More calories.  Thoughts?  Worried I might not get enough calories on the bike.

Is that all you are going to have? You need gels too...or something that is calorie rich, not liquid.

Mav - I will have gels (GU, orange my fav) and chocolate bars (not pure chocolate, similar to granola bars).

Rain has returned so I am glad I got my ride in yesterday.  Will run later.

BTW, I am liking my aero covers.  When the wind held off on yesterdays ride I could glide along pretty well.  Handled well in the cross winds.

My quarterback is my hero!!!!  I thought you were going to call me for the long ride.  Can't wait to meet you in New Orleans at the Half Ironman.

Workout for the day is done.  16 mile ride in the rain, 47:42, 5K run in the rain, 22:43 (PR) second in my age group, 16 mile ride in the "cold" rain, 48:12.  Total actual workout time is 118:37 minutes.  Now the question is, do I count the time between my ride and run as workout time or not?  I can do it anyway Lena wants, just want to make sure I am not cheating myself or Lena.  Some one give me a ruling.

Outside ride yesterday....in the wind and a bit of rain.  Hard and fast with a buddy.  We pushed some big watts on big hills.  Have I told you all how much I love my new road bike....wow.....so cool.  Today was a spin class ride with a short run afterward.  My favorite instructor.  It is just like an outdoor ride.  Tomorrow....long run....thinking 10-11 miles....

Next weekend, half marathon.....then the next weekend, an organized 60 mile ride, then an open weekend and then a couple of weeks later it is off to Colorado for a ridiculous epic camp...

Billy - glad the kids are coming home....

Wetsuits.... love 'em...they are marvelous...don't pee in them.....unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary....respect the wetsuit....you don't pee on things you respect....EVERY race you do that is wetsuit legal you should wear one.  The only exception for me was one Olympic that I did prior to my first HIM I went without it....just so I could see that I could swim the distance without a wetsuit as we felt that they would not be allowed in the HIM.  Final answer, they were allowed in the HIM so I knew I could do it without the wetsuit but you can bet your tush that I wore it.....

Happy Easter everybody.....

I ran 16 miles today, 3 hours 34 minutes Details are in the log. My arch still hurts tonight, nothing bad, but i feel it, so i hope it goes away. I am seeing the chiro for more ultrasound therapy on Monday, hope that will help, as well.
Billy, you doing workouts tomorrow? I'm not, i'm hosting Easter, so I'll be freaky busy all day, plus, i probably should rest those legs.. Monday, picking it back up!

HAPPY EASTER, everybody!

May do a short 45 minute run before church, not sure.  Don't hurt yourself by overtraining or trying to much just because of our comp.  I would rather lose than have you get injured.

Oh, i didn't run that long b/c of our comp.. my marathon is coming up, so i have to get the LRs in! Next week is the last (and only second) 20+ mile run, then i will only have two weeks left, so will be scaling way down.
Plus, I had a friend come up (she lives 1.5 hours away), we are doing the marathon together, it's also her first full and she also has no one to train with, so she came up last night and we ran together today. She hasn't had a 20 miler yet, so she continued on when i broke off at 16... next week, we are running together again.

These long runs are definitely making me feel much less freaked out about the whole marathon business i got myself into lol

Lena - you will do great....just don't get caught up in the excitement.  Run slower than you think you should the first 6 miles.  Then let it build a bit to mile 18 or 20 and the last 3-5 give it what you got left....most mistakes are made in the first 6 miles.  You build the wall there, you hit it later.  Be sure you take in calories every hour -- what is your eating plan.  You must fuel to keep going.  The tank needs gas. You should try you fueling plan in your next long run.  Go girl.....you rock!!!

Lena...looks like you are coming along great for your first marathon!!  Nice run yesterday!

I had my first "real" bike wreck today.  I hit loose gravel.  AHHHHH!  It gave me a really nice headache, sore shoulder, swollen and bruised knees and of course road rash!!  I found out first hand how great helmets really are!  I was riding with my brother in law and he didn't even know I went down.  First time I ever rode with him.  He had music...I told him not to but he didn't put it in his ears...however I could hear it when he was close to me.  So he was far down the road before he knew I bit the dust!!  Hopefully I will not be too sore tomorrow...am icing now.  I hope I have my wreck out of the way....because it only happens once....right??  LOL

Happy Easter everyone!!

Amy,

Hope you are ok.  I am sure you are sore today.  Road rash stinks.  The first shower afterwards is the worse.  Basically when you are picking gravel out of the road rash and washing it out.  Wear loose clothing over the road rash areas.  It will "puss" over today.  Sorry, lack of a better term there.  Yes, you find out just how good helmets are the first time you wipe out.  Hope  you and your bike are ok.

Amy so sorry about your crash! It only happens once!!!! Be sure to repace your helmet, even if it looks OK. Road rash sux...agree with John...loose clothing...showers for the first few days are pretty painful. Hope you are not too sore today. Glad you are OK

Hey all!

Just swinging by.  For the past couple of weeks I have been working on a transition plan at work.  The division that I work in was sold to another company and the official announcement was today.  Closing in a few weeks.  Things were nuts last week and will get busy again soon as we transition over.  We used to be an independant company but were bought ~4yrs ago.  The sale is a good thing in my opinion and might even get me a chance to travel to Italy to see our new corporate HQ.  Couldn't say anything as I was under a NDA.

Billy, wanted to ride with you on Friday but lingering issues made my ride tentative.  When there seemed to be a break I jumped on it and rode.  Sorry.

Have the kids todya but managed a quick 1300m swim (2x500 and 1x300m) at lunch.  Pool was set at 50m lengths which is a great workout.  I have my first tri of the season on Sunday and this was a great workout.  Swimming ~2:00-2:05/100m but I think for my HIM I am going to slow it down a little.  First swim in a week and I could feel it.

Did anyone hear about USAT dropping the wetsuit temp to 76 from 78?

Finished today's workout.  Biked with a buddy on his mountian bike, I think I killed him!  2:30, 35.5  miles, easy ride.  Got my Inviscid design hydration system today and IT IS FINE!!!!!!!  I will try to post pictures of my bike with it installed.
