Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() NICE bike Billy!!!!!!!! Very nice!!!! I'm using the plan my brother used last year. PM your email address to me and I will attach and send it...you can check it out. Then we (my brother and I) are thinking of switching it up and using the 13 weeks to a sub-13 hour Ironman. It is in the Training Plans for Multisports Athletes by Gale Bernhardt. We are going to get together and do the lactate threshold testing. woo hoo! lol I have not tried Infinit....not sure...my brother has completed 3 IM's without Infinit. But I have thought about trying it..just not sure. I tried running today 2 miles....hip was really sore from the @#$% crash. I'm waiting a couple days to swim because my shoulder is really sore...not just road rash sore but when I lift my arm. I am on here so late tonight because my son Cameron broke his leg in a hockey game tonight. He's in a lot of pain so not much sleep for me tonight! The sad thing is his U16 team is playing in an adult hockey league for "practice". Well one of the adults and a 16 year old were going at it. Yes actually fighting on the ice. Cameron thinks he has to help his buddy out then it turns into one great big pile with Cameron on the bottom and a broken leg!! I know some of the adults are young adults but....come on...fighting with 16 year olds??? Now Cameron has a broken leg. I hope everyone including Cameron learns something from this. The good news is that it is a clean break. We go to the ortho tomorrow morning. Hope training is going great for everyone!!! |

SO sorry to hear about Cameron's leg, how terrible.. and I agree, adults should have thought better! seriously! Billy, SWEEEEET bike! i'm very jealous! Bryan, i'll post my nutrition plan and what I've been doing later. Would definitely appreciate any advice and critique! I'm having some weird pain... after my Saturday run, my shin has been aching, but also my arch, and now, the spot opposite the arch on the outside of the foot hurts-has actually woken me up several times last night. ugh. Seeing my foot chiro today, so will mention it to him. UGH. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning all! Amy - I really think you need a new bike also, I am sure there is some unseen damage that can't be repaired. OUCH! on the broken leg! Some adults are worse then kids. Lena - take care of that foot! Good luck at the chiro! Mav - how is your foot? Diane - where are you? Billy - No bike accidents for you! Don't make me come up there and put training wheels on your bike! Okay, taper was supposed to start this week but having some issues with not working out. Plan actually gave me 3 days in a row off. Um, uh, that didn't quite workout because of the workouts I missed last week and had not swam in a week. Coaching my daughters fast-pitch softball team (co-coaching), practice was last night. Lots of fun, various levels of ability but lots of energy. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() In the infamous words of Brittany Spears, "Oops, I did it again". My wonderful friend Myra called and talked me into being her partner for the Ride to Conquer Cancer in June. Two days, 200 kilometers from Toronto to Niagara Falls. My head hurts thinking about how my butt will hurt ... FBP |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all! Freddy - very cool to hear, good luck to you (and your butt) Billy/Lena - go! Amy - how is your son doing? Mav - how is the foot? One last workout today, off tomorrow and first Tri on Sunday. Should be fun. Temps are looking pretty good. Its a OWS sprint (point-to-point). Did the same one last year as my first Tri ever. All I am hoping for is to beat my time last year. Will not try to race hard as I don't want to risk injury right before my HIM. Weather here turned cold over night but supposed to warm up during the day. DD is sick and DW is home with her and I will probably take the afternoon shift. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, I have a question for y'all, Has your heart ever done anything weird while training? Let me tell you about my day. I was making an out and back 50 miler today, pace about 19 or 20, heart rate was 115 to 120 bpm. I just had a funny feeling and looked at my watch for my heart rate, 120, looked back in 10 sec and it was 175 bpm. Now I really didn't believe it to be true so I took my pulse, dead on 175. No mater what I did it wouldn't come down, or really go up much more for that matter. Under full load, only 185 bpm. I continued to ride and felt ok, just watched the heart rate and monitered how I felt. Still feeling ok around mile 20 but with a slight headache. At mile 25 I stopped and took a little break, but heart rate still wouldn't come down. Finally, I lay down on the path and instantly the rate started falling and was down to 67 bpm within 45 seconds. I waited about 5 minutes and started riding again, and never got the heart rate over 155 and i was riding at 25 to 26 mph. Whats up with that? |

I would highly recommend seeing your primary care MD and discussing your HR. ALthough you are not symptomatic its something that should be checked out. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Looks like I won't be making my Tri tomorrow. Turns out DD needs her appendicitis out and will have surgery this morning. |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry to hear that Gary, take care of the family first. Wish I could help. |
|
![]() ![]() |
Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Awww Gary your family will be in my prayers. It sucks when your kids have to go through things like that. Keep us informed! I'm sure she will heal quickly and feel much better after surgery. |
![]() ![]() |
Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Back from hospital (DD and DW are still there). She is under observation and they will make the call by noon if it is surgery or not. |
![]() ![]() |
Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Gary, that stinks. Is DD ok? Did they do surgery? I hope all is well.. please keep us posted! Billy, that sounds a bit scary to me, honestly. I would definitely go see the dr and have them run some tests. Hope it's nothing!!! Amy, I'm so glad Cameron is doing much better! So, people, I *sort of* ran a marathon today... it was our longest run ever (my friend who's doing the marathon with me-first for both of us-came up to run together), and I was going to do 22 if I felt good, and 20 if anything bothered me. She wanted to do 26, and I told her she was crazy. Guess what I ended up doing? 26.2! It took us forever (as it should have on a long run in training), but we did it ![]() |
![]() ![]() |
![]() | ![]() Gary so sorry to hear about your DD ![]() Yeah Lena! So happy for you! Well folks...I have a Mortons Neuroma on my foot that has been giving me probs for a while. Had an MRI on fri and the diagnosis is confirmed. Hoping they can get it/ and my pain under control through steroids. I am DONE with being injured/infirmed. I think my running is going to be put on hole for a while. AS long as I can swim and bike my sanity will be intact. Good thing I am not running Boston...cause I wouldnt be able to do it! Pete totally cool that you are racing with Myra again!!!!!! Bryan where are you?????????????????????? Billy whats your heart rate???? |
