Good luck with your experimenting.  I see next year your HIM in Miami will be a branded Ironamn 70.3 race, cool.

I completed my Half Marathon today in 2:11:07. I'm so excited because all the online calculators were predicting 2:20-2:30!

But now my legs hurt.

Congrats MacMadame on your race good time too. You should be proud of yourself. Brent just think you will be on your way back up to GA from your FL Iron while Im getting ready to blast off on my HIM. Wish I was running it with you. I hope to do that race next year. Im going to have my wife punch the ticket for me before I even finish my Half. I believe we have another one doing the FL Iron too. Almost a month away getting pumped.

Brent how hot is it up there? I am sweating my arse off 6lbs on the bike yesterday. Ridiculous I say, that is with 80 oz of water. Did a 5 am run and lost 5 lbs today hard to stay hydrated when it is so hot. Worried about next year when I step it up to the Full Iron. How do you do it shoes and clothes looked like I went swimming this am. lol Then I did to cool off at the house. It is a scorcher here those guys up North cant send the cool weather anytime. lol

We just had a frost advisory...supposed to get down to 39 tonight in Michigan...my bike has not seen the road in 3 weeks!!  Not enough light on the weekdays after work and weekends have been cold and rain....now I am bonding with my trainer in the basement.  I am looking forward to Florida in November at my parents winter place to get some long rides in before I really have to pack it in.

That definitely would suck but I definitely would take a day of 40 instead of days of 100. Where you staying done in FL Rymac?

This makes me glad I live in California! I still have two races to my season and will probably be able to bike half the weekends through the winter.

I want to hear about our fearless leader's IM though. Paging Brent!

Hey guys, sorry I've been so absent.  Really busy at work and trying to get all the training in.  Weather has been a challenge here, rain, rain, rain.  Just finished a 21 miler, to of them in the rain.  Biked 120 a couple weeks ago all in the rain.  You probably heard about all of the flooding in GA a couple weeks ago.....yeah, that was the day I was on my bike for 6 hrs.  At one point I had to pick up my bike and carry it as the water was above my knee.  Crazy, crazy.  I actually love training in the heat and can't stand training in the cold (5 hrs on a bike at 40 degrees is pure misery).  Fortunately I can get on my bike most weekends throughout the Winter, probably 3 out of 4 weekends a month.  Can't really get any mid week bikes in as there just isn't enough daylight.

Congrats Marie on your 1/2 Mary, awesome time!

Take care all and happy training!

26 days til Show time for me....getting very excited.

I had the most fantastic weekend!! First, I got 4th in my Age Group at the US Women's Series Triathlon in the Super Sprint. Then I met Chrissie Wellington! A bunch of us from GOTRIbal went on a bike ride with her and she talked to each of us along the way. When it was my turn, we talked about why there aren't more women in triathlon and about training. It was awesome!

MacMadame must be nice 4 AG in the race, riding bikes with Chrissie and living the good life in Cali. Congrats on all, you had a stellar weekend. More of the same old bike riding for me another 50 miler getting ready two weeks before my HIM. Weather has definitely improved here. Still dont think I am taking in enough calories on the bike. Got a little tired today did my swim and then bike could have ran but would not have been very impressive. Need more energy.

Well, my calf issues killed my race. First they cancelled the swim, then I couldn't run all the way to T1 because I was in so much pain so then I quit.

Sorry about your weekend. Why did they cancel the swim? Think of it as it must have not been meant to be your Big Kahuna. Make sure you take care of the calf. Good luck with healing we cant plan for injuries. They are not in the game plan.

The fog rolled in right before the swim was to start and just got worse and worse. It wasn't safe to swim.

I was bummed on Sunday but I hurt so much on Monday and I hurt right now. I think I was smart not to do it. I would have totally screwed up next season if I haven't already.

Wise judgement call, always better to fight another day then to tweak something and be on the sidelines for several months.

No idea what I did to my calf. Finished my run the other day felt some soreness in right calf stretched it out. Did my swim no problem took yesterday off and today was suppose to run. Got about half a mile into the run and pow calf pain again. Stopped stretched and started to go again and leg said no thanks. What the heck one week out and this guess I better take it easy and massage the heck out of the legs and stretch guess this will be a bike and swim week with some walking. I hope this thing is better by Saturday.

I know I talked with my Brother who is a PT and he said heat massage and stay off of it as long as I could. Swim for the exercise and light bike riding no off of the saddle. This is going to kill me. One week before the race and I have to sit this is going to drive me up a wall. Going from 6 days a week down to the pool. Guess it would be the smart thing.

Went for an easy swim no problem and a easy bike no prob ice tonight. Another day off tomorrow and back on the bike and swim Friday. Good luch Brent on Saturday I will be racing on Sunday in Miami HIM for me. Hopefully next year we can meet up I hope to get a slot for the Florida Ironman.

Hope you get everything resolved and are okay for your HIM.

I asked my PT about ice vs. the jacuzzi and he said that, if I have pain, I should ice because pain means inflammation and  ice helps with that. But heat helps if you feel stiff because it loosens everything up.

Well I did it almost reaching all my goals. Damn the wind. Calf held up and finished feeling good ready to sign up for the Big one now. I will post my race info today. Overall time for Miami Man Half Iron 5:48:01, 33 out of 83 for age group. I feel good about the race. Hope Brent and Michelle did good too. I know the wind had to be brutal up there too it was horrible down here.
