gslye - 2009-06-03 6:51 PM Everbody must be out training thats why it's so quiet  Smile

My taper has begun for Boise and I'm stating to feel the nerves twitching in anticipation.

My DW in her crazyness to become a Marathon Maniac has signed us up to do a marathon 2 weeks after Boise and another one 2 weeks after that. Well I guess I should start doing some more long run's. I have not done one since April.

Holy cow, Gary...ambitious doesn't quite describe what you're doing!

Good racing today.  the weather was great, although is was a little cool. Rode my bike to the event, raced and then waited around a bit to congratulate the winners.  Once again I was in the most contested age group.  Finished 4 out of 30 in the group and 20 overall. Back on the bike after a quick banana and cookie and rode home.  Basically 2/3 of an Oly this morning.  Even with the ride before the race I bettered my 10 k time by over a minute. Laughing
Hope everyone else is racing fast!

Scott - great job on the race yesterday! And Gary - wow, my husband always calls me crazy and even I haven't signed up to do anything like that Good luck with it and let us know how the training and multiple races go!

I'm sorry I've been so quiet on here. I was out of town for a while and I came back to find nothing but insanity at my job. I've been trying to play catch-up at both work and home ever since I got back. I'm almost caught up, but it's only lunchtime on Monday and I'm already tired looking at what they have booked me for this week. The training is going well and I have another full week ahead, starting with a ride tonight.

Checking in: First day of my 20wk HIM training program officially starts today. This week looks a lot like it did when I went through it the first time a month ago. Time to put up or shut up.

I hope all your training and tapers are going well.

Ok, I hate to sit here and talk to myself but we have officially fallen to the bottom!

Patrick ~ how's the training coming...you sticking to it?

Erin ~ I hope work gives you a break!!

Where is everyone else?

I must say, had a blast at my first tri on Sunday!!  I didn't place anywhere worth bragging about but was 5/15 in my age group so I'm pretty happy.  Now, I am looking at doing an Oly in July...I just have to convince myself to do it!
Hope you all are having a great week ~ and...WAKE UP!!

Way to be competitive on Sunday! top third in your age group puts you in FOP territory in my bookLaughing  Trying to get back on track after a really busy week that so far has continued into the work week.  Will post as I can.

Good hearing from you again erin.  we missed you.

Well I made it to Boise and got my race packet and walked around the event center and checked out the stuff I might get some day, the P4 is awsome  so were the ceepo's. My bib # is "1268" if anyone is tracking the race. I'm going to jump in the lake tomorrow and drive the bike course.
I'll post my bike photo as soon as I can.

As soon as I read that you started at 280, and have gotten steadily better, I was hooked!! If there's room for me in this group (I realize most are closed, and don't want to impose!) I'd love to be a part of it.

My name's Jonathan, and I'm 31 and single, a full-time dad of a 6 year old girl.

I'm currently exceptionally out of shape, at 270 pounds, but know what it is to be in shape -- I was a competitive swimmer for years before and during high school, then took up cycling as a hobby for about 5 years, then spent 5 years in the Marines, working mostly on running. Since 2005, I've been completely sedentary, and just recently (<1 month) decided to get back in shape.

Training: I want to do 2-a-days, since I have the time for it, but am doing 6x per week right now as my body gets reacquainted with the stresses of exercise. I do 3 days on stationary bikes, 3 days in the pool, and spend a little time on the basketball court. I want to include a (very) mild weight training regimen as well, but don't know enough about where to start. Last time I tried jumping into weight training, I ended up with moderate tendonitis, so I'm very careful to take ti easy this time round. I don't plan on running much, if at all, until I'm down to about 240. During my last two years in the Marines, I ran about 45 miles a week, at a weight of 212-215.

Races: None scheduled now, but I desperately want to do the Lawrence, KS 70.3 in two year's time. Next summer, I'm shooting for a half-marathon and a sprint IM.
