mndymond - 2009-09-30 4:22 PM Gack! So I have picked 20 sessions for my goal....20 just seemed to pop into my head and thats what I went with...which we will decide in about two weeks if that was insane or not...

I'm not doing my half marathon till May and I'm FREAKING out!...(I just may be an overanalyzer...)

Also I need something to keep myself pre-occupied outside of school....not that I'm complaining about all this free time...but it is giving me a tad bit too much time to ponder what a doctor should be and should know and I'm freaking myself out...so I need to channel the freaking myself out into something...and I picked running!!! TADA!!!!

I did get to shadow a doctor yesterday though (because I know I'm making med school out to be a total downer) which was super exciting! Yay for scabies, URTI's, and gout!!!! (Ok maybe not yay for all of you....but yay for me!)

by May..you will be running circles around those other HM runners!

what is your distance you run now?

Ummm...I'd say about 10km's...I think I'm gonna try and bust out a 10miler though this month (I think 10miler sounds easier than 15km's....I'm a Canadian, eh? so I can just pretend that I don't actually know how long a 10miler is... )

6 miles is fabulous....thats a good average run - I have my money on you....betting you can totally do the ten miler.

do you run with music?

Oh YES!!! I neeeeeeed music to train...I definately don't to race...for some reason the conversations I have with myself in races are enough to keep me going...but not so much in training...

my latest running playlist...which I so creatively labelled RUN! is a mix of...the universal necessity Lady Gaga---basically I just need to hear "poker face" and I'm good to go...some britney, some bon jovi, some rocky soundtrack selections (No Easy Way Out is my personal fav), some cuban music, some james blunt, maroon 5...and selected others!!! Kinda random...but its all good!

I also like doing iTread workouts...they are just kinda fun to mix it up!

I too need music to train...not sure how others can do it without it!...the HM im in this weekend is a rock n roll race....hope it keeps me moving!

I CAN run without music...but its no fun...so I don't generally do it.  But I don't need it in the race so I don't really think that it is a such a big deal.

I wish I could be more like you...I am lost without my ipod on my runs! but I have forgotten mine on occasion and the run seemed to last for ever. sure its all in my head!

serendipity - 2009-09-30 6:24 PM Got my workout tonight playing pickleball.  Anyone else ever played?  It's on a tennis court (with different lines than tennis) with paddles kind of like ping-ping paddles and a wiffle ball.  The wiffle ball makes it interesting because alittle wind really affects the game.  I was never any good at tennis, but pickleball is fun.  The group we play with isn't too serious about it and they're crazy enough to play even though it's 40 degrees.  We have the tennis courts to ourselves, because all the tennis players left for Florida after Labor Day.

I was inside and didn't see it, but my daughter hung out after school to watch the boys' soccer game and said it snowed for about 5 minutes.  The new season is fall, right?  Not winter?  'cause it feels like winter out there.

pickleball, eh? thats great!

snow...thats not so great!

stay warm! I would say come visit us...but it has been unseasonably chilly here in the bay area this week. Plus..who would keep that house all toasty and warm....if you were not there to build those fires!

At the rate we're going they'll have a Halloween opening.  (But not earlier, since I'm supposed to run a 5K there on the 11th.)  Whiteface in Lake Placid got it's first snow on the ground.  Which reminds me that my skis need sharpening.

Pickleball sounds like a ton of fun.  My brother and I used to play a lot of racquetball.  Then he got more lazy and I got less lazy.  I miss it.

Well, I always train with music but I don't seem to miss it during races.  I did do my first marathon last year with the ipod.  I will be going ipodless Sunday.  26.2 miles with my own unpredictable thoughts seems daunting

I used to play racquetball too, but not for years and years.  I don't think I've seen a racquetball court anywhere recently.

The Leaf cruncher?  That is a great race!  I see you are no longer driving north....Where are you?  We have a cabin in Indian Lake and are up there as much as we can be.  I love cycling rt 28 between IL and North Creek, can't beat that elevation drop.  Ride into town and stop at Sarah's Bakery..........to fuel for the long climb back to IL.

I always ran with music until one day I just forgot my iPod and didn't miss it at all.  Now I leave it home unless I'm having one of those days where I'm not very motivated to get out and run.  My husband hates that I stopped running with music.  With all that time to think, I keep coming up with projects to add to his to-do list.

Yup, that's the one.  We are in Schroon Lake.  We have a cabin, too, which we are living in until we find a real house.  (Just went to contract on one, so if all goes well we should be in by Thanksgiving.)  We escaped from NJ permanently.
