I'm still alive - things just got a little hectic for a bit. 45 minutes on the rollers today, and another core workout. Woo hoo for the rollers! Nice job. Edited by notarunnr 2009-12-16 8:51 AM |

Extreme Veteran 597 New Joisy | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge brick94513 - 2009-12-16 1:57 AM While not part of my goals for the challenge, I had a great day on the bike. I realized today that my training has become so run focused that I was missing the bike. In the afternoon, I got fitted to my tri bike. What a great experience! The process took about three hours. I can't believe how many changes were made to the bars, saddle, cleat positioning, and knee alignment. I wasn't even close to correct positioning. Not to mention, I learned alot about correct anatomical positioning for maximun efficiency while on the bike. I never miss the bike. That is my biggest goal for 2010 learn to love like the bike. I got a fitting on my road bike and I like you was so out of position. The guy that fit me is now writing my training plan and trying to infuse me with his enthusiasm for the bike, now that's a challenge. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge a_prl - 2009-12-16 6:07 AM Swam this morning. My rotation is getting better which means slightly more speed. Wahoo! Also, one of my roomies gave me my Christmas present early. Paddles and fins! Now I have my own pool toys!! I'm jealous. My swim coach told me the other day to get a pair of Zoomer's to help reinforce proper kick ( her way of telling me my kick is pathetic). I'm hoping a pair will show up under the tree. Oh, if you haven't used paddles before, be careful. It is really easy to strain the shoulders, due to the extra resistance, if your form is not spot on. For this reason, some companies make paddles specifically sized to your body weight. Just my 2 cents. |

Regular 60 | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Hey Frosties, I'm back in business after a none-too-brief adventure with migraines that lasted over a week. I managed to knock out a few of the sessions and catch up a bit. In addition, I was asked for my holiday wish list and not surprisingly - tri training was on the mind: nike+ipod kit, yankz, swimp3, gatorade bottle.. LOL I'm off of the swims until the last week of December (gym's closed). Strength training is happening no matter where I'm at or what's closed. Riley |

The marathon training takes up so much time, I can't get on the poor thing. I saw it in the garage the other day with a low tire and a little dust on the seat...poor baby. It's ok though, that's how these running shoes are going to feel after March 7th! Then it's on to the century training |

Just accepted a huge project that has to have a proposal done by Jan 12. Lots of work right now and I leave for NYC in two days! Will run today; a 10 mile hill run, hope to get in a strength workout today or tomorrow, then on Friday it's a two day drive north. Ouch! I'll check back later with my run report. Hope you have a great run!!! I absolutely LOVE NYC!!! I could go every year. Too cold for me to live there though. Have a safe trip! |

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Got in my run, just over 9.5 miles, at a good fast pace, for me anyway! The hills kicked my butt, in good way though. I feel great and satisfied with the effort, especially compared with my yucky last run. I guess what also helped was that the sun has finally come out and I got to run with a good friend on some lovely rural roads and somewhere at the beginning we picked up this hilarious blue healer that was funny to watch and ran the whole way with us. Actually I think he ran more like 15 miles compared to our 9.6! |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Got my run out of the way early today. Well, I didn't really have much choice. Wife informed me we had Christmas shopping to do, get our tree, and "I" had to get the lights up outside. And, oh by the way, we have to be at a Christmas play this evening! 30 minute tempo run at threshold pace. With warm up and warm down, I totalled 7 miles. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Hrm contrary to popular belief 7x 1 mile repeats as part of a 10 mile run when marginally over a cold is not so much fun on a slightly drizzly windy cloudy day. It does get me to 103 miles for the month, so past the hump and closing in on the run goal. I am really hoping I have enough pool acess over vacation to finish out the swim goal. This is going to be one crazy Christmas. There will be 5 siblings, 4 wives/husbands with the combined 12 children and the wife's 12 siblings with their 5 husbands/wives, a few significant others and the 14 ish children (some are due soon) at houses 100 miles appart (Christams day travel near LA hrmm) with Chirstmas day at both houses and family pictures with all family members from each side still 100 miles away on the same day with related attendence at mass and Christmas eve activities while getting in workouts. I am tired already. Oh and we haven't started our Christmas shopping yet, that is going to take at least 3 or 4 hours I would think. |

Master 1792 | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Brick and Blujay...y'all got in some awesome runs today. Awesome! I love the story about the dog. When I run the 2 mile out and back at home, I pick up a few different sets of dogs. They only run about .5 before they turn go home, but they are all very sweet. I'm going to try to get a few miles in on the way home. We had a party for a lady at work today...her 80th b-day...and she still works part time! Anywho, the salad, lasagna, breadsticks and cake are sitting a little heavy...blah. Gotta go try to burn some calories! |

Regular 60 | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Oh hell yes. Depending on the tickets, I could end up being with my parents a full week. There will be running for sanity. I love 'em but geeeeesh! P.S. Anyone want some candy? Boss Man just gave me my annual box and I'm trying to be good. It's a half-pound of dark chocolate almond bark from Trader Joes. [Yes, I'm serious. I'll ship it to ya today.] |

I think I'll pass on that candy! This is the worst part of the year for me concerning nutrition. I have NO willpower when it comes to the sweets. If there not around the house, I do fine. But when all those yummy treats are just sitting on the counter, they are just begging to be eaten! |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Good morning team! Weather here has turned for the better. For the first time in a week or so, I woke up to the sun coming through the windows. What a motivator!!! How are the goals coming? I'm going to have to play some catch-up on my swimming. Heading to the pool this afternoon and probably squeeze a double session in tomorrow. Where every your training takes you today, have FUN and stay SAFE. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge I don't have to care about the weather today, I get a non-run, swim day. It is going to be tough getting in the last several swims while out of town. It is so nice to not have to look at a swim schedule to see where they have a block with swim lanes open for more than 1 hour and after 6am. It is just tough to get up at 4:30 am to swim during vacation, it just feels morally wrong or something. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Looks like we will have another beautiful day here. Sure is easier to get outside and go when the weather is on your side. Yesterday was great. I actually ran the first three miles of my run with my wife and our youngest in the jog stroller then finished the other three miles solo. The slower pace and pushing the stroller, surprisingly enough, helped loosen my legs up. Got home and put up the outside Christmas lights despite the help of little fingers, then made it to the pool. For today, I'm hoping to squeeze in a small recovery run and another swim session. |
