Yes, the recovery and circulation ones.

QOTD: I would like to continue to get faster. I'm going to focus on doing HIM this season in Racine. After that, I'll decide whether or not I'd like to continue on and tackle IM. If I do, it'll be just to be able to say "I did it". Realistically, I think, it'll be too expensive and time consuming to continue to do HIM's and IM's. So I'd like to get faster at the Oly distance for both Xterra and road tri's. Besides that, I'd like to stay healthy and fit enjoying myself doing something that's fun for me.

My goals for this year are to run a couple sprint tri's, a couple olympic tri's, and some other road races (including a half-marathon later in the summer).  I have a lot of things going to me to accomplish more than one triathlon: I'm not married, a teacher with summers off, and I started this thing is reasonably good shape.  Over the summer I'd like to really ramp up the training and really push myself physically.

In the future, my goal for next year is a HIM and two and a half years from now (circa 30th birthday) an IM.  I don't think I'll ever be able to podium in a sprint or an olympic because I have a mild case of anemia which really limits my ability to go hard for more than 25 or so minutes, but (somehow) doesn't really affect me when i take it easy for long periods of time.  When I run or bike for long, slow distances now the thing holding me back are my short, heavy legs, not really running out of gas or feeling tired.  I stopped the powerlifting and have begun to lose some weight - now ready to see what I can do!

Good morning team! I hope everyone had a good weekend. This time next week I will be celebrating the 7th STEELERS SUPERBOWL VICTORY hehe. At least I hope so!

My goals for this year are to complete an International Distance Triathlon (my first!). And to PR my Half Marathon (2:04). In the long term I would love to complete a HIM.

KONA, BABY!!!

(as in, i'll be there cheering people on as i lay by the beach with a pina colado in my hand).

long term= pgh. half marathon either this year, but most likely next year- which i am totally ok with! pgh. international triathlon next year, but i first need to get through a sprint distance!

and i can't think too much further beyond that right now.

Well.....

I woke up with another nasty sinus infection. I'm working from home today. I may still get my run in tonight, but I'm not sure it's going to be the best idea to get the last swim I hoped to get in before the end of the month.

Don't swim with a sinus infection!! I think you still did great. If we all had indoor pools attached to the back of our houses, we could have all done 20 hours this month! You do what you can. Great job.

Time to cave in for some antibiotics??

Sinus infections are the worst - I had one in Oct that lasted for weeks.  Get your rest and get better quickly!

Yikes! hope yr sinus infection heals quickly Brian! I spent the entire weekend on the couch in a nyquil-induced stupor. *sigh* Today is my first cold-med-FREE day since last Wednesday and while I still have a mild lingering cough I'm gonna get on the treadmill and do at least a mile. I find that when I stop training all my bad habits come back, so I'm pleased to be up and about and eating healthy food again. I'm hoping to be able to hit swim class tomorrow as usual (I missed Thursday) but it will all depend on the cough. Can't think of anything much more disgusting than someone coughing up a lung in a public pool. Ew. After I stager through my run tonight I plan to have a good sit in the dry sauna and hopefully sweat the rest of this cold out!

As for long-term goals, I would definitely like to do some more sprint tris. Not sure I'll ever go for longer distance, but I'd like to someday run a 10k too. I can see myself improving my sprint time more easily than going longer distance.

My totals are in for January.  7.5 hours, 13850 yards swimming - 7.25 hours, 41.5 miles running - 11.5 hours, 177.25 miles bike - 5 hours other.   I just couldn't make the 9 hours swim.  My goals for this year are to continue to train in one way or another.  I don't have a set amount or type of races that I would like to do.  I just want to progress.  I cannot believe that I can do any of this still.  I smoked and drank and ate fast food most of my life.   The fact that I can do any of this puts me in the "best shape of my life" category.  I know I am not even close to who I will become.   This journey for me will take my whole life.  I just want to keep going.  If I ever make it to an I.M., it will be amazing.  But who knows what can happen. I never knew I would make it this far.  My first triathilon (olympic) is just around the corner.  Two months.  I am starting to think I will be able to finish it no problem.  Might not be fast but will finish.  I tell you one thing, I really like this website.  It has helped keep me motivated.  Thanks to you all.

Sooo, Brian u will wake up to find I registered for my first Olympic!!!! OMG!!! That should keep me motivated to really start training as I should. I haven't even been on to post any goals. So for February I want to be consistanly running and cycling probably start adding swimming to the mix again in March. I am not even sure what distances for each to post. February goal for me will be just getting off my butt and actually doing what I should on a regular basis, tho it does help to have that race already on the calander now! I really need to focus on getting myself back in shape and ready for August!! Getting back to training I need to remember to keep some time for skating!! In the meantime I won't be so embarrased to wear a dress to skate in cause I will stay in shape!

Nice!!

I just hope you don't get what I have and have to wait to start. Why don't you just start with a goal of running 3x per week and cycling 2x per week?

Didn't Chi Chi Rodriguez, the golfer, go to jail for misrepresenting a product like those titanium things?

I'm still sick! I feel aweful. I think I feel worse about missing the january swim goal, and even more worse that I probably won't make the February run goal now either. I just hope I can get back on track with this marathon plan without getting hurt.

Dale, I'm right there with you! I hit 200 lbs when I was just 12 years old and didn't see below 200 again until I was 25. I'm thrilled to be in my 30's now and be able to say I'm in the "best shape of my life". Congrats! And we don't care if you're fast in your Olympic - it's so awesome that you're doing it!

Hang in there! :/ My cold is gone now (only 5 days lost) and this morning I swam my longest workout to date, so I have high hopes for Feb.
Anybody got any training suggestions for when I can't cycle? I'm going to Mexico for a week and I plan to stay on track with swimming & running (more or less - swimming laps around a sailboat isn't quite the same LOL) but I won't have access to a bike. Should I do some easy strength training for my legs?

January's totals:
Bike:4h 16m 15s  - 91.9 Mi
Run:7h 55m 23s  - 45.73 Mi
Swim:5h 55m  - 9596.46 Yd
Strength:10h 35m
Rowing:10m

I think there was a little biking mileage I didn't catch due to a couple of spinning classes. Trying to time the pool hours with childcare and a swim team practice that goes on during the evenings is a little tricky. I'd much rather swim than bike or run!

Stairs. When I spend time in Vegas I get up early in the morning and head over to the Fashion Show Mall. They've got killer stairs to run up and down to keep those cycling muscles engaged.
