How many of you pay for a membership?  This group is pretty good and I have taken a lot of benefit from all of your experience.  Hence, I'm thinking of buying a membership, but wanted to know what the value of them is (bronze, silver, gold).

Ouch!  I know how you feel.  I mainly get them when I swim in the evening.  They rarely show up in the morning.  I've found that this stretch helps me a lot.

Stretch

That is a great stretch. The other one I do with it is just sitting on my shins with my butt on the back of my feet. This stretches out the quads and ankles as well. I do it with my shoes off and I massage my feet. Help loosen up the arches, achilles and get the blood in there to avoid cramps. I do it before any session not just swimming.

Finally got back into the pool today after a four-month layoff.

Definitely lost some endurance

Great job. It will get easier as you do it more. All about the consistency.

I use to get really bad cramps in my feet/toes and now I make a point of eating a banana every day and haven't had the cramps in my feet/toes like I use to.  Not sure if it is because of all my other exercising but I had read that eating a banana every day helps and it works for me.

The husband laughs at me when I run out of bananas or when I go to the store and I have to get a certain number of them as I try to get enough till the next time I go to the store or enough till I go out of town.

Wow Scott nice swim!! I did an easy 3 mile run this morning 130 avg heart rate. Then core class for 30 minutes. My race teamis doing a swim clinic tonight. They are having under water swim analysis and coaching. There will be a coach and a nationaly ranked or was ranked swimmer to show us drills to do. I can't wait I have never been coached or giving any intruction to help my swim. I taught myself by watching videos and asking questions. I am a little nervous to here what I am doing bad, I am sure it will be a struggle to change. But I want to get faster so bring it on.

P90x was good for me when I did it. It helped jump start my fitness but I felt I outgrew it and then I found crossfit which fits me perfectly.

That being said there are 2 or 3 of the P90x workouts that I still do on a regular basis that are absolute killers and I see good results. I like the Plyometrics one especially and I can definitely feel it on my rides.

This week has been a killer for me. I hate making excuses and I really dont have a valid one on why I've sucked it up this week as far as S/B/R training goes. I can make them up but if I don't accept them why should I spout them off? Right? Right. I'm going to finish the these last 4 days strong and try to salvage this week.

That's awesome. Coaching makes a huge difference in swim because it's all technique. Enjoy.

I have a Cannodale SuperSix road bike and it worked well for me for my HIM.  However, if I move up to an IM I am debating about getting a tri bike.  I was thinking of getting another road bike and fixing it up to be my tri bike thinking it would be alittle bit more practical meaning I would have another road bike if I decide I am done with tris.  (Can you believe this) The hubby believes if I am going to do it I should go all out and get a tri bike.  Thoughts??

Ran with my dog today as a warm up for my long run tomorrow.  Yeah, baby I am running 20 miles.  Running with my lab is more of an upper body workout then a run workout trying to keep her focused.    Was suppose to do it Saturday but they are forecasting rain and the group moved it up for tomorrow to avoid the rain.  I love my job so that I can adjust my schedule for this.

I don't know if I am the right person to answer this or not but. I purchased a tri bike after my first tri. I loved the sport and new I would be to the IM distance. I love the tri bike on those rides all by yourself. I also think it is more comfortable. I kept my road bike for group rides or really big hill climb rides I do where I live. If you are keeping your old bike I would go with a Tri bike. If your are selling it I would ask what your plans are in the future in tri's and bike riding in general. There is no right or wrong answer to me. But I like having the right tool for the job. IE Tri for tri, road for goup or crits anything where drafting is allowed, Mtn for Mtn. remember to do what makes you happy.

I agree with Jarrod and I also bought my bike after my first race. Love my tri bike. If If was riding more recreationally I'd probably prefer a road bike. Having both is a great luxury.

Snowed over night and my long run was scheduled for today. 15 miles and 2:14:13 @8:56/mile and 140 average heart rate was a good effort but way too long on the dreadmill for my liking. I had never done longer than 9 miles on it previously. Sneakers and socks were drenched by the end.

Had to come home and shovel for 45 minutes. I half want to log it. Only two inches of snow but after 15 miles what the he!!, lol.

Nothing like running in fresh snow!!!

The swim clinic last night was great. The coach taught me alot of where my body alignment should be and why. He also went through some drills to correct the issues I have in my stroke. The best was watching yourself on video and being able to see what he wanted to change.

I love running in the fresh snow, I use Yak Trax on my running shoes and they work great for keeping you upright!

Log that shoveling time, I do, it's a great cardio and core workout!

Great job everyone on getting in the workouts, I've been behind these last 2 weeks! 14 hr work day today and then need to get the snowblower fixed and clear what I can on my already iced over driveway.

Hoping to get a long run in tomorrow after work?

I've never run in the fresh snow. I would on a trail if I had proper equipment but on the street I just don't trust drivers. As much as the dreadmill sucks at least it's safe.

I did last year and used the 20 week HIM program, they give you some added features and are a very good value. I will probably be renewing mine soon, if nothing more than to make sure we keep this awesome resource available to all!

Thanks for the recommendation about bikes.  More then likely I will get a tri bike, I just needed to work it thru in my mind. I am keeping my road bike so I can ride with the hubby.

Moved up my long run to today as it is suppose to rain/storm all weekend.  However we woke up this morning to rain, go figure.  It did stop by the time we got started.  Ran 20 miles for 3:35, this was my longest run up to the marathon in 3 weeks.  Once again I was falling apart near the end of the run.  Wish I knew what to do differently to avoid slowing down and wishing I would just quit.  My pace was right in line with what I have been doing for the 14 and 16 mile runs.  I know it is mental.

When I start to fade I'll start thinking about my form and it does two things. Improves my efficiency making me faster with less effort and takes my mind off how tired I am.

X2 for what Everlong said.

I've always done that running and over the last year I've focused on that with my swimming also and it makes a huge difference. It also helps me relax because as I get tired I tend to tense up and muscle my way through it wasting energy I should be using on the run.

Agreed, it's even more important in the swim. When we're going some brutal intervals that's what gets me through and makes me faster.

I pay for membership mainly because some of the training log reports aren't available for free.

Yee haw... first brick of the year.  Between work and snow storms, it's been tough to get in workouts this week - I had a window of opportunity today.  I got in 1000 yards in the pool and went for a 3 mile run in the snow.   I'll get on the trainer tomorrow and still be able to get in 2 swims, 2 runs and 2 trainer rides for the week - not bad considering the kind of week it was.

Used my snow trax for the first time and was very happy with them.  They're no good when you hit bare pavement, but they were awesome on the snow and ice.
