So I came to Delhi and decided to stay at a new hotel at the suggestion of work.  Its a new hotel.  Almost like having it for myself...issue is gym is not ready...I found out that they would take me to a nearby hotel for the gym if I wanted.  I decided to strike out on my own and see the surrounding area on foot.  I ran 2 miles this morning..it is cool here in the morning about 50 degrees...everyone is out wearing jackets, stocking caps, etc and this crazy American is out running in shorts!  I got some funny looks even from the Pigs eating the trash off the ground...

I continue to be amazed by this country.  Looking forward to going home in a few days...

Good job on the trainer ride. I like the idea of the big seat!!! My butt is still trying to get used to the drainer seat. I guess that is a signal to get on it more, eh?

Unfortunately, I'm afraid you're right. I need to get on it more. I'm surprisingly okay today! So here's my bike question: When I run I work up a good sweat, so I know I'm working hard. On the trainer I don't sweat nearly as much, which I know is weird because most people sweat like pigs on the trainer. I think I am correct in interpreting this as meaning I am not working out hard enough. But, my legs are TIRED by the end of my sessions and I'm grunting and groaning to get the hard intervals done. Is is possible that my legs/cycling muscles are disproportionally weak compared to my cardio abilities and once I build some legs/cycling strength I'll be able to work out harder on the bike, as will be evidenced by a good sweat to show for my work? (And, is it strange that I am complaining about not sweating enough?)

Well, today marks a full month on my BT training log.  Man I did not want to keep going today, but getting it done and seeing I'd made it a full month is great!

Ouch!  I'm getting a trainer for my birthday in a few months and can't wait to start spending hours in the saddle... my butt already hurts thinking about it!!

Ran 4 yesterday am, did a 1mi warm up in the evening and did weights

Plan to run 4 this evening when I get home from work.  So far so good...

All this trainer talk is getting me worried about this weekend... I was invited to a Super Bowl Bike Trainer party, and I haven't been on my trainer all winter!  Though I used to bike commute everywhere until December when my commuter got stolen Frown  So hopefully my butt will remember what it's like to be on a bike seat all the time.  But the Superbowl is kind of long, so I might be sore on Monday!

Ran 5 miles today.  We've had somewhat of a heat wave... 55 degrees in February?  Where is winter?  Looks like I picked the wrong year to sign up for this ski race!

And my big news of the day... I registered for the Chicago Marathon!  Eeep, my hip's been behaving thus far- let's hope it doesn't get angry when I make it go farther!!

I had my 2nd swim lesson tonight. My teacher is a HS girl and very nice, but I'm not super confident that she's much more than a good swimmer. But that's fine. I have lots to learn in the pool, I'm just pretty sure I've read more about swimming theory/form than she knows. HOwever, reading about swimming and swimming are two vastly different things! I already am finding my swims more tiring when I work on what she suggests, which I think is a good sign that I'm not slipping through the water like I was before but actually grabbing some of it and moving faster. I hope anyway!

And I did a 4 mi run earlier today. It was supposed to be 5mi but I ran out of time.

Skipped my run today, but did 15 mins w/u on the bike, and a 1hr strength workout, after being on my feet all day.

Finally got a swim in. I enjoy it but dang, I am slow! I wish the pool were closer so I could get to it more often.

Hi everyone!  Sounds like you guys have been making some excellent progress recently.  Hard to believe that January is already gone.  That just means we're one month closer to tri season!

I had a good month.  Went from basically no running the prior two months to getting close to seventy miles in without reaggravating the Achilles injury.  I also dropped 9 pounds of unwanted offseason weight by clamping down on the diet.  Smaller portion sizes and no more alcohol (that was the hard part!).

Here's to another good month of work.  Keep it up everyone!

This weather has been nuts.  I ran in shorts and a tee shirt a few times this week when past years I'd be bundled up for single digits.

Sweet that you signed up for Chicago!  I just signed up today.  Hope your hip behaves as the mileage racks up

Congrats on the 9 lbs!  I've done the same... Haven't given up alcohol yet, but cut back significantly.  Same with coffee- I found out I'm actually a morning person.  Here I thought I was a night owl, but in fact I was just overly caffeinated!  Now I just need to start using this extra time I have for good use, like working out before work....

Wow I can't believe beginning of February and we have almost no snow and double digit plus degree weather!! Went for a 5.7km run during my workout break at work today and couldn't resist but take it outside and go along the river pathway. So happy I did, in my lulu crops and longsleeved shirt, I think there was a smile on my face the entire time!!! I really hope the weather keeps up for my half marathon next weekend. It's called the hypothermic half marathon and i'm hoping this year the name will be proved wrong!!! hahaa

Keep up the good work everyone!! One month into the new year and keep it strong!!

I fell behind on my running this week but did well with the strength training. It's ok this time of the year...but I have to keep running/cycling and keep working at getting a solid base.

I put up my February goals on my log ... just gotta stay consistent.

Birthday trainer ride this morning. I am still adjusting to the time change so I was up earlier. I planned to ride my age in miles but the baby woke up and cut it short. Oh well still got a good ride in. Have a great day!

I have this same issue when I haven't cycled for a while. My legs aren't strong enough to get the same type of cardio workout I do from a run. As your legs get stronger it will be easier to work up a sweat.

After spending yesterday shivering under all of the down duvets I could find I feel much better.  Even got on my spinning bike for 35 minutes.  This past week was a terrible training week for me with my husband and daughter sick then finally me.  I'm hoping to find some time to bike and run this week since the hotel I'm staying at actually has a decent looking pool.  Might be optimistic.
