It has been quiet in here Hope everyone will be able to get out and train this weekend before the "big game"

I am not a football fan but I will probably watch some of it. Make sure you drink your water...it will keep you full so you dont drink too much beer or eat too much junk food!!!

Kristen I hope you are feeling better. There is a cold/flu like thing that has been going arouond for some time and it seems to linger for several weeks.

Nancy...very exciting about the new shoes and pedals. I am glad that you liked Landrys and you were able to find what you wanted. I have had very good service from them. Be careful the first few times you venture out on your bike with the pedals. make sure you are in a place where you leave yourself plenty of time to clip and unclip. As far as the "race" goes...dont worry so much about your pace. Lots of people do a run/walk even for a 5 K . It doesnt matter how fast you are...you are healthier than 99 % of the people who are on the couch!!!!

Erin how's the training going???

Erica...got run???? Hopefully you will get out this weekend

I put in a lot of miles biking this week. Plan to go out again today. I even cleaned my bike on Wed. I have a long run tomorrow with the Soup Group and at some point this weekend I have to make up a swim that I missed yesterday.

Chris, are you riding long this weekend?

Cleaned my bike today and got it set up on the old trainer. It's "good" enough, as they say. Don't have the right tools to change out the pedals yet, so sneakers will have to do for awhile longer.

Nancy,

If you take the bike to Landrys they will swap out your pedals. It takes less than 5 minutes.

How did you like riding the trainer?

Its a little chilly out there this morning. I am supposed to run 7 but I am thinking of running a little longer.

Who's watching the patriots today???

i'm going to try to watch some of the game tonight but it's always challenging with the kids!  i promised my husband that he could watch the game uninterrupted if i can get a 7 miler in today.    yes, it IS chilly outside - at least it's sunny!!

i had a pretty rough night last night - my 5 year old has caught the stomach bug that has been circulating around town for weeks.  she was up for a few hours last night getting sick   i hear it's a quick bug and she already seems much better today.  hopefully my other 2 kids won't get it...  time will tell!

Kimberly...enjoy your new shoes..I love new running shoes

Kristen, hope your little one is on the mend.

I had a good run yesterday except we got lost. Not a great thing when you are running 10!!! The group I run with has markers on the road but we must have missed one. I think we were about 4 miles away from the host home when we called for a ride. I was cold. We had to keep stopping to check the i phone gps... which makes you pretty chilly. All was forgotten when I warmed up and had soup!!!

going to be another warm day today. Temps in the 50*'s. Hope you can all get out and enjoy it some

How did everyones weekend go??? Besides the Patriots loss...

I was working during the game last night, but we have TV s in the newsroom so I did get to watch the game. Good one even though the ending wasn't what we would have liked. I grew up as a giants fan so I've only been a pats fan for 26 years so I don't feel it like some of the guys in the sports dept. this afternoon my daughter and I are going to swim. It's my day off.

Hi Friends!  Weekend was good, aside from the stomach bug...  It actually all worked out though - only 1 out of 3 kids got sick and the bug was QUiCK - lasted less than 24 hours.  My daughter who got sick had been at a birthday party earlier in the weekend and apparently a lot of the party attendees and host were also ill.  Looks like they had a little birthday outbreak...  (I was an infectious disease epidemiologist for the state in my life pre-kids, so I kind of love this stuff!).

Anywho, I got some good training in this weekend and am feeling great.  My training for the Quincy 1/2 is really shaping up and I'm feeling much stronger than I did going into my last 1/2 marathon...

I've officially registered for 5 sprint tris this season (up from 2 last year) and I think that's it.  I was hoping to do an OLY this time and would really like to do the Cranberry one but I'll be traveling with family that week so it's not going to work for me this year.  I will definitely have it on my calendar for next year, though!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, aside from the Pats loss...

I have had a ton of kids out at work from it (I work at a Martial Arts Academy) and Zoe shared it with me and My Husband. Its is ALL OVER the South Shore.

What races did you sign up for?

I'm doing Escape the Cape on 6/2, Cohasset on 6/24, Pine Bush in Albany, NY on 7/8 (with my sister!), Sharon's Back on 8/12 and Buzzards Bay on 9/16 (fingers crossed for a "nice" swim, haha!).  Is anyone else registered/planning to register for any of these???!!  I've also considered the Nantasket Tri and Hopkinton Title 9 in Sept, but I feel like I have enough on my plate right now!   You could seriously do a tri every weekend if you wanted to around here, we're so lucky with all the races that are offered!

Morning everyone, had a pretty good weekend, no training on Saturday, but I got an hour ride on the trainer before the lame game on Sunday. Last night had another great swim for 30 min, guess I need to start running…I am actually writing this before I go to meet this Dr. that MAV recommended I see in Worcester. He is a podiatrist who will watch me run, and tell me why it hurts when I run long distances day after day. Hopefully this will change my view on my dreaded third event.

                Have a good day everyone.

Kristen, I am thinking about Escape the Cape. I think it would be fun. One of my sisters lives there so I have a place to stay. I am trying not to sign up too early because I dont want to forfiet entry fees due to injury and my knee still isnt 100%. I am doing the Season Opener in Hopkinton in May. I will probably do the Westboro Sprint in July. There is an oly that Firm racing puts on and Mass State tri oly...I would like to do an oly as well but I dont want to do Cranberry. I am going to do the Rev 3 Half Iron in Maine...and then IMAZ

Good Luck today Joel!!! Neil is "the man". Joel is refering to Neil Feldman...he is a triathlete ( done several ironman) and a podiatrist. If you ever have feet issues, he is the guy to see. I am a tough critic of the medical profession and Neil is topsin my book!!!

I had a crazy ride yesterday! Went out mid day and it was windy . About 20 miles into the ride one of my shifter cables snapped and I was stuck in my toughest gear!!!ERRRRR Going downhill into the wind...pedaling hard i was barely making 15 mph. My bike is in the shop!!!This may be the year for me to purchase a new bike.

Marianne, that ride DOES sound crazy!  I agree, sounds like a reason to buy a new bike, haha!  Hope your knee continues to heal and you end up registering for Escape the Cape, that would be fun!  I'm doing the Saturday race (co-ed) but there's also a women's-only sprint on Sunday.  I got a discount through the Bay State Tri Team to register for 3 Max Performance races, so I took them up on their offer and the Saturday race was the only one offered in their "discount package". (I would have preferred the women's-only, oh well.)

What are your thoughts on the Cranberry Oly?  Has anyone done this before and do they recommend it?  I had this at the top of my list for an Oly to do when the time was right b/c a lot of the Bay State Tri members seem to like it...  Any other good Olys out there that I should check out?  I'll look at the Mass State Tri, thanks!

Good luck at your appointment, Joel!  Hope you get some useful feedback...  Keep us posted!

I am interested in Mass State Tri in Winchendon too.  This year they have added a Women's only Oly event the day after the regular Oly.  I wonder what that will do to the numbers - ?    I have no idea how big the field is.  I understand the venue is very nice, clean lake, family-friendly park, a fun event and well-run.  I've penciled it in for my summer plans, still not sure.

Morning all! Got my 5 mile run in yesterday. Today is crazy but I am going to try and sqeeze in a swim.

I LOVE the Cranberry oly...that is a great race and an awesome venue. Its in August and I am not a fan of the heat. Dont mind it for Sprints...but not  olys for me.

Erin I did see Graces attic sale...not sure what I am going to do yet. We'll see what todays damage will be when I pick up my bike from Landrys.

Morning!  I got my run in yesterday before class.  I had a very hard time getting out the door but once I did it was a fantastic run.  It felt so good to be outside.  No run today as it's a long day at school and then the afternoon is full of kid stuff.  Cole starts afterschool tutoring today on top of Alex's last basketball game (it's the championships!).  I am supposed to pick him up at 4:15 and the game starts at 4:00 and they are about 30 minutes away.  One day I will master how to be in two places at once.

Greetings.  Kinda busy week here; weight = same, water intake = OK, nutrition = good this week.   I didn't get in all my planned workouts last week, but I am on track this week.     My favorite shoes have about ~300 miles on them and I will be sad to set them aside.   Today have a run, a swim, and chiropractor, and kid/family stuff.

mav, you are The Best for getting outside in winter!!    I hope y'all are over all the germs!   Joel, what did the doc say?

Cheers,

Erin

OK, guys, I have also signed up for the 5K for the Old Fashioned in Foxborough on Sunday, Feb. 19. I figure I can walk/run it -- or one of you can pick me up off the pavement after you're done! Hoping it is as flat as they say!

I need to run 3 miles today.  I usually run right after the kids get on the bus but I couldn't today because the school kept calling and interrupted my schedule.  So plan B is to run this afternoon when it is warm and beautiful outside.  Hopefully the timing works out and I won't be relegated to the treadmill again.  I really, really hate that thing.
