kns57 - 2007-11-12 10:35 AM Okay, got my 3 mile run/walk in and 3 miles on the bike. Now to get ready for work. We have a board meeting tonight and a bunch of citizens have signed up to talk to the board ahead of time about internet access in the libraries. We have the best block on the internet that is available and they don't seem to understand that it can't possibly catch everything and there are sites that people find objectionable but are not "gasp" porn or illegal (such as the pictures coming through on this thread). Oh what fun in the libraries. I'll need some BT chatter this evening after sitting through all that. And I need to write a self evaluation on myself for my boss who will then rewrite it for my review. Think I can brag about my accomplishments on BT?

Heh...I love the fact that libraries provide free internet access...I'll occasionally camp out there at lunch, so I can cruise BT and eBay outside of the office...read: guilt-free (hee, hee)...

Funny...it's self-evaluation/review/accomplishments time here where I work too...does BT count as technical community networking?   We do talk some technical stuff right?...swimming TECHNIQUE, stretching, graphics technology, motivation for accomplishing goals...

that all works for me

not to mention the fact that I work in ecommerce, so - I can count it as research on social networking - right?

LOL

They've blocked a lot of sites here that they really shouldn't have. It annoys all of us. For example: medical information, science and health information, etc.... A lot of it isn't available. Or, it's available without any pictures/diagrams/charts. Ahhh! Drives me crazy. Now I'm wondering why we haven't been asked to do our self-evaluations yet. I know it's coming. I think we do them in December, actually. Oh joy....
We unblock sites all the time that are medical, etc. Check with your library to see if they have a system set up to unblock sites. Filters are not perfect and those that they are intended to block are always looking for ways to get around the filter. Constant battle, but I guess it keeps someone in business.
Well, it's not the library. And my department has a constant battle going with the IT department.....

Here's one that will make y'all laugh... Remember I work for the County Recreation Division...

Per Admin's request IT placed a block on all sites involving the sports (trying to keep people off of ESPN and fantasy league stuff)  Problem is sports is our job in recreation.  For two weeks we couldn't access websites that we order equipment from, couldn't access coaching websites that we reference all the time, couldn't even log into our internet registration site (that was the real kicker). It did everything but totally shut down our division.

Well, I guess I should get to work.  I think I'm the only one in the office that showed up today (Veteran's Day). My office is a MESS after just throwing everything around last week during the tournament, never really put things where they belonged (I even have a CrockPot on one of my desks).  Haven't checked my voicemail since last TH, I'm sured it's backed up ( I hate voicemail!!)  Maybe a little music will make me productive.

HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY, HECTOR!  (even though you're still enlisted)

Um. Yeah. In a normal challenge, that would work.

But for this challenge, a lot of people's goals are in different units/formats.

For example, I listed "11 swim sessions." So, you couldn't tell how many I've done based upon the yardage in the pool.

If this doesn't make sense.... well, you'll see it when you try to fill in the numbers on the spreadsheet. LOL

(Back to work now!)

How fun that you have visitors like this on a routine basis!

I'm not a hunter, but don't mind hunting here (as long as it isn't close to the house.)  My feeding area is off-limits.   But there are just too many deer on the farm and it's not healthy for the herd.  Besides, they do taste pretty good.....

I agree that hunting is a necessary evil, and that venison is tasty...
It was just interesting with the split between those of us who were enjoying the beauty of the buck, and those (mostly the guys) who wanted to shoot it.  {sigh}

PETA - people eating tasty animals (horrid bumper sticker, but still kind of funny

Beth we could always PM you with our updates. Kind of hard for you to look through 20 pages of posts to try and get everyones. course mine is easy, straight miles or yardage. None of those sessions to mess you up.

I'm doing a bunch of spreadsheet work... so, I need a distraction.

I had a good spin workout over lunch, and tonight is the first night of TEAM Fitness - the 12 week program that is a follow-on to the TEAM Weight Loss that I finishes a week ago.

How are things in your neck of the woods (literally)?

Distraction?  You sure came to the right place!   I'm doing a little work, a little cleaning, a LOT of playing.  Wasn't in the mood to run this morning, but I did the treadmill anyway and ended up with a kick a$$ session.   Speaking of kick a$$ sessions, have a good time at TEAM tonight!

Way to drive yourself on your treadmill workout this morning.  And, yes, I am quite curious about tonight... my understanding is that it is going to be 30 minutes of "run has hard as you can", to qualify our distance.  This will then become our metric throughout the 12 weeks, with respect to cardio.

kns57 - 2007-11-12 11:35 AM Okay, got my 3 mile run/walk in and 3 miles on the bike.
And my department has a constant battle going with the IT department.....

i can relate

Classic!

LOL

Yoganerd - 2007-11-12 1:17 PM Way to drive yourself on your treadmill workout this morning.  And, yes, I am quite curious about tonight... my understanding is that it is going to be 30 minutes of "run has hard as you can", to qualify our distance.  This will then become our metric throughout the 12 weeks, with respect to cardio.

that will be great!

back when i was doing kickboxing, my trainer did semi-annual fitness assessments - it was always fun to see the progress!
