Rash is really not that bad.  When the bike decided to eject me, and I believe Carmen (thats her new name) really decided to eject me, I must have gone straight up and straight down, maybe one good bounce.  I have pictures if you want.

I was supposed to ride fro 2 hours today, but decided to swap my training with tomorrows training.  Swam 1.2 miles in the lake without a wet suit. just in case they make the HIM not wetsuit legal, then ran 4 miles.  I think I am ready for Saturday.

I think you are ready too....my last crash I was just freaking out of it for several days....you were very lucky....enjoy the week....take it easy.....everyone should now listen to Mav say, "the hay is in the barn."   Really, nothing, no, nothing you do this week will change your race one bit....seriously...take it very easy this week....just enough to stay loose and confirm that the bike it fixed.....

I would like to see pics....

Hey y'all

Today is Day 2 of my Oly training plan. I clearly suck at following the plan though because Day 1 (yesterday) was supposed to be a rest day and I ended up doing a 2 hour ride   . I was making up for the fact that I had been unable to get out on Sunday as planned.

Spent the weekend as Chair of a diabetes conference and then yesterday gave a keynote speech to a group of 80 politicians, civil servants, industry, labour groups, health associations, etc. Went well - got a front page story in the main provincial papers today!

Morning all!

Had a sucky swim yesterday but that is bound to happen.  Especially after spending the morning clearing the jungle in part of our yard.  Last nights trainer program ride was a test.  Very nice.  DS is doing much better.  Signed DD up for a kidz tri on June 12th.  She is in intermediate swim lessons this week so perfect timing.  No race for me this month Frown.  Oh well gives me time to get some training in.

PROBLEM: Something is wrong (I think) with my swim stroke.  Since I yesterday was a holiday I didn't shave my face.  Not sure I shaved Sunday.  Anyway after my swim I have a rash on the front of my shoulder, just above my shoulder, where my skin was rubbing against my chin (I think).  Has happened before.  For the record if I don't shave I can use the stubble as sandpaper.  Its only on my right side (want to guess what side I predomiently breath on).  Any ideas?

Pete - LOL on the training program but it is only day 2.  Nice work at the conference, great that you can do that.

Billy - glad you are okay, take it easy.  BTW, I ran out to the barn last night and everyone is right.  The hay is in the barn, plenty of it along with some alfalfa Tongue out.  You are set and will rock that HIM!  On a serious note, this is your 2nd front wheel flat in the last 1-2 weeks?  Maybe have your LBS look over that wheel?  Also, may be new helmet time?

LRR - congrats on the Oly!  Yes we are very lucky and I will ace the personal assignment.

Billy - glad you're ok - you're gonna ROCK your HIM...

LRR - wtg on your Oly!

I spent the weekend with my son in Phoenix, and when I left this morning, I had the opportunity to say Thank You for a wonderful weekend, and I also took the opportunity to tell him how proud I am of him  On my way out of town, I stopped for breakfast at IHOP, and at another table there were 3 soldiers, so on my way out, I stopped at their table to say Thank You for serving our country... nice to say Thank You to folks

Tonight, I'll have another opportunity for Thank You's as we will be meeting with Team in Training for our Kick Off meeting - getting our airline tickets etc for next week's Century Ride... during this meeting, we will be Thanking our Coach and Mentor and the TnT staff, for without them, I wouldn't be riding next week...

Billy, wow, how scary!!! Glad you are ok, dude!!!!! Take it easy this week!

Two finish lines for me from this past weekend- did a Soldier Field 10 miler on Saturday and an Elgin Fox Trot 10 miler yesterday. The Soldier Field one got red flagged by the end of the race (i had 1 mile left to go), and i just kept on going. The one yesterday didn't, but I wished it did- it was so hot and humid, I was pretty miserable, but of course, finished.

OK, its clear that I REALLY suck at following training plans. I have just realised that I printed two different plans - the tri-newbies 10 week Oly beginner and the trifuel 16 week oly beginner. I have mistakenly done the workouts from Week 1 of the 10 week plan, 16 weeks before my event. On the bright side, at least I didn't wait until 10 weeks before the event to do the 16 week plan

The next time I post, I will be a Half Ironman, or I will never post again.

One more thing.  My daughter gave me a "Road ID" for fathers day.  It says on the bottom "if found, treat with Cuervo".  Pretty cool huh?

100 miles DONE... it was an AWESOME ride around Lake Tahoe and out to Truckee... did the ride in 6:26, then added 2+ miles to make it a full 100... Turns out all of those hills I did in training really paid off! I'm taking some time this week and reflecting on what I really want to do next...

Billy, CONGRATS on your 70.3!!!!!!!!!!
