Hey all!

Ride this morning then had to hop in the truck and haul stuff for some friends (DW volunteered me).  Official IM relay training started yesterday.  Decent swim yesterday, short hot run yesterday afternoon, and nice ride today.  Turns out there is going to be a swim clinic on Sunday.  $20 and I think its a fund rasier for the Stanford swim team.  Can't hurt and hopefully they can help me with my balance.

Billy - Ouch!  How does July 16th or July 23rd sound for a long ride.  Would be looking for 50-80 miles, easy 16-18mph pace.

Mav - can you make Sunday?  LOL

LRR - Heard there is a new IM out your way.  Woodman?

John - glad you are on the mend.

Everyone else - enjoy the weekend!

In May of next year there is going to be Ironman Texas in the Woodlands by Houston for those of you wondering.

Had a great 2:30 hour ride today....long run tomorrow.

I am thinking about setting up a conference call to discuss the last few days before an Ironman with all of you who are interested.  We will also talk about race execution which is a BIG deal at any Ironman but critical at your first.  What night of the week would be best....I am thinking of something around 6 or 7 central time but we could also do 8 or 9.  I think I can get a number for us all to dial in.....it will be long distance but with cell phones it should be okay....who would be interested????

Ride in the rain - stay off the white and yellow lines.  Corner slowly  -  be sure you have slowed down before the corner - no brakes in the corner - don't turn too sharp.

IM training....weekdays are about 1:30 hours or so, weekends are L O N G.....but if you start early you are almost always done by noon.....

Long run in the morning.....

BTW - body glide is good but try DZ Nuts for long bike rides or ASSOS cream....both are a little pricey but they are AWESOME.

I'd like to join in on the conf call, even though i'm far, far away from a IM. But who knows... maybe a HIM in a few years...

I did a long run today. Humid. Hot. Sweaty. By the end, got caught in a HUGE storm... wrapped my iPhone in 6 (hehe) baggies (I love my iPhone) and prayed it'd survive. I was supposed to do 15-16 miles and still had time for over 4 miles, and running in the rain felt great...wait, correction-running in the downpour felt great. However, we were right in the red of the storm and the thunders were rolling over right above my head (I looked at the sky several times, it felt so close) and lightning was hitting all around me, streets were dead, so honestly, it got a little freaky pretty fast. I figured that was enough excitement and sloshed home. Ended up with 11.32 miles. Meh.

I do have to say, it was glorious to just run through any puddle I wanted to (because it really, really, really didn't matter after the first 3 minutes of rain), something I would never do to my not cheap running shoes. Kind of like being 5 again..

I am right there with you dear, I pray for rain everytime I run this time of the year.  With the exception of this morning at 530, it was nice for the first 7 miles.

Hey all!
Back from swim clinic.  Really helpful.  Pretty much told me what I already knew: poor balance stroke entry/catch not right but my instructor (ended up one-on-one, yahoo!) had me work on drills for a couple of hours.  Really made a difference.  Hope I can recreate that tomorrow when I practice everything on my own.

Lena - love running in the rain as long as it is not cold.

It's been a decent week of training for me. Did a VERY modest "mini brick" on Saturday (30k ride, 10 minute run) then a 7k run on Sunday. Monday was to be a rest day but moved my swim session forward a day and did a very comfortable 600m. Yesterday after work was a 7k run and for the first time in ages I didn't feel like I was dying at the 5k mark!!

Off this afternoon to our cottage in PEI for an extended long weekend. Canada Day is tomorrow so we will be celebrating in Red & White Maple Leaf style!! Saturday we're having a BBQ for family and celebrating our 25th anniversary (2 days early). Plan to get 2 OWS practices 'cause I'm bringing my wetsuit a couple of runs in the 6-8k range.

Happy 4th of July to y'all. Mav - some day I am coming to Boston to attend the concert on the Commons which I faithfully watch on PBS!!

Without going back through all of the posts, it seems someone was supposed to be sending out samples of homemade maple syrup, is that true or am I dreaming?  Just wondering outload.  I would be glad to send out a jar of oil covered sand in return!Undecided

Hey all,
Just thought I would swing by.  Training is going fine.  I would highly recommend Jorge's Bike training program if anyone is looking to improve their biking.   I am on week 10 of 12 and definitely seeing improvements.  Interestingly enough I think its helping my swim.  Last few swims I have been using the zoomers for the drills.  It used to be that using the Zoomers meant calf cramps.  None so far in the last three swims.  Nice.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend!

We will definitely do a call.  Debbie and I got a contract on our house.  We are moving in three weeks of which a week and a half are our vacation.  Gonna be a crazy three weeks.

Two and a half hour ride today....very humid with the hurricane rain the last couple of days....tomorrow is a run and throw away a ton of sh#$% in the garage.....

Man you collect a bunch of crap over time....

Gary - is a bridge line a call in line where we can all connect?  I was going to set one up but if you already have one, let's use it.  Did you get it online or is it set up elsewhere.  I have seen where you can set one up online for FREE - my favorite cost.....smile.

sTRIve - happy Fourth of July to all - and happy Oh Canada Day there to my friend the Canuck....

Mav - did I miss your BIRTHDAY??????   Crap

LRR - yes, we can all dial in.  I can send a participant code and 800 number to each of you (PM, I don't want to mass blast it) and I will use the leader code to start it.  Just let me know.

OK Billy - the syrup has aged long enough now in the glass bottles on our dining room sideboard. I WILL get it into the mail this week.

Had a fantastic long weekend at the cottage in Prince Edward Island. Saturday night we celebrated our 25th with family and friends. Today is the actual anniversary date - I will celebrate with a swim at lunch time
