Freddy congrats on 25 yrs!

LRR - Will have to get back to you on Sunday.  Sometime next weekend I have to drive my DW's niece back to her place (meet her parents half way).  Since her day hauls trailers when will be determined by his loads.  Tentatively Sunday works for me.

Did y'all miss me?

FBP, good deal on 25 years,  I remember mine.  Its much to be proud of.

I am good on the Sunday call if you will still have me.

Now, about my training, not so good.  Had yet another bike crash Friday evening.  Took my eyes of the road for 3 seconds, hit a pothole and  couldn't regain control.  Head first over the bars and right eye socket first on the pavement.  6 stiches and a lot of road rash and extremely sore teeth.  Pretty frightened at first.  Unable to see out of my eye, realized it was blood and I mean instantly covered.  My son was riding with me and got to see the whole thing, said it was in slow motion.  Bike is in the shop for repairs, hopefully out in a few days.

Here is my question, do I ride difficult roads in training, do I ride hard in preparation for Louisville or do I just ride the flat smooth trails and take my lumps when I get to the hills in Kentucky?  I want to be prepared, but don't want to get hurt and not even be able to start.  I just don't do a very good job of coasting.

Pictures to follow shortly.

Billy - glad you are okay and will be back in action soon.  After that nasty spill I would go with the easy but far option for now.  May be use the trainer to get some interval work in if you want something difficult (I am telling you that Jorge's bike training program will kick your tail and make you a much stronger rider).  1.5 to the IM, better to get there in one piece.

Hey all!
Just signed up for another race in late Oct.  Its an Oly distance and I am signed up for the Aqua bike.  About 3 weeks before my IM relay so it should be great timing.  Billy, if you are still alive Smile you should consider doing it.  Its in False River (about a little under an hour NW of Baton Rouge), you can crash at my place the night before.  Bring the Missus Billy along and we can make a party out of it.

Otherwise training is going okay.  Because of the holiday I haven't swam since Thurs but got 2000m in the pool today and will do the same tomorrow.  Will start tapering for my Sprint on Friday, take Sat off (short ride), and I will be ready.  W

May be able to do the Oly.  Depends on the timing on my son-in-law's return from the Iraq fiasco.  Give me the exact date.

Let's plan on it....I am thinking 4 or 5pm on Sunday.  I would prefer 4 if that works for everyone.  We are getting ready to go on vacation after packing our house for the move and then we move the day after we return from vacation....this is NUTS!!!!

I am going to look for 4 pm Sunday unless we change it tomorrow.....Gary....NUMBERS PLEASE

Hey y'all... I haven't had much to say lately, but I've been reading the thread religiously... I'm in Phoenix and taking a total immersion swim clinic this weekend... hopefully, I'll learn a new technique that will work for me... unfortunately, I won't be able to participate in the conf call as I'll still be in class til 5pm PST on Sunday - not that I'm anywhere near IM, but there's always stuff I can learn...

I've been running for 4 weeks now - next week I start run 3 min/walk 1 min... so far no shin pain

I'll let you know how the swim clinic goes - let me know how the conf call goes...

If its 4 then its 4, but 5 works better for me.  I have a long ride to complete Sunday.

I have Carmin back, picked her up this afternoon and she is once again smooth as silk.  I will try her out tomorrow in the Sunfish Sprint Triathlon in Meridian Ms.  I will be the swim leg on a relay team consisting of myself (swim), my son (bike) and my daughter (run), then I will complete the race on my on as an individual.  Looking for 2 finish lines maybe?

Stitches are out and I am back.  Look in my photo album for the pictures of the crash damage.  I am going to try to post them now.

Billy - let's see what everyone else says....if 5 works better we can work with that...

Diane - if this one goes well, we will have more so don't worry about the call.....somebody may have the technology to record it....we can see....

Lots of things going on, not all good.  My grandmother passed away yesterday.  Planning on heading out to So. Cal later this week.  I PM'ed LRR with the bridge contact info and he can pass on to everyone else.  As soon as I get back from my Sprint I have to take my niece back to her parents (meeting us half way).  Should get back just in time to start the call at 4pm but if we could move the call to 5pm it would be much better for me.

Hey Everyone!  You can add a finish line for me!  I completed the Muncie Endurathon 70.3!  I actually can't believe I did it!!  I just took it easy on the swim...my first swim that long with no wetsuit.  If you told me I would swim 1.2 miles in a lake with no wetsuit last year...I would have laughed in your face!!!!  Actually a year and a half ago I wouldn't think of jumping in the water without something near by to grab onto!!!  I still can't believe I did it!!  Biking is def my weakest!!  I was the last to get on the run course but passed several people on the turnaround.  I'm just happy that I finished!! I'm slow but I got the job done!!   My brother did it too and our friend Phil.  WOW Phil completed it in 5:02!!

Gary so sorry about your loss!!

Is the call still on for tonight?  I'm not sure if I will be available.  Maybe someone could fill me in?
Have a great day everyone!

Hey all, back from the race.  Had two goals: beat last years time and maintain 19mph on the bike.  Made both: beat last years time by almost 9 mins and avgd 19.8 on the bike.  Swimming sucked but did okay on the run.  I have to leave to drop off my niece.  LRR and Billy have my cell phone.  Could one of you call me to let me know if the call is still on and at what time?  I am assuming 4pm but 5pm would be better.

Back later!>

Anybody watching the TdF? Yesterday after coming in from my ride it was on TV. I was proud at having averaged 27kph for 40k. They averaged twice that on a mountain stage. Yikes. Tough day for Lance - 3 crashes but credit to him for getting up each time and carrying on.

Pete, I don't get the station that has Tour de France on it - it would cost about an extra $100/month to get it... I'm switching TV services as soon as I can.. this is just crazy

Gary, sorry to hear about your Grandma...

Amy, WTG!!!

Bryan, Gary and Mav, thanks for the phone call the other day.   It really has me thinking about my race day plans.  I don't make detailed plans very well but based on this phone call I will rethink the whole thing.

Amy, I missed you.  Are you still on for the ride on the 31st of July?
