Tomorrow my oldest daughter turns 10 and we're having a party at a water park.  It conflicts with my tri groups OWS, so I will miss that.  I do plan to conquer Lee Hill Road and Old Stage (tough part of my Olympic tri bike course in July) with them on Sunday, however.  Monday is the Bolder Boulder.  It's a 10K run with 60,000 of my closest friends.  It's always alot of fun no matter how well I do.  I'm actually doing it 2.5X because I'm walking back to the start (can skip half of it walking back) and will then join up with my family who will be running in a later wave.  It should be fun.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend and trains hard smart

Hope everyone has a good long weekend (for those of us who celebrate the long weekend - do they have memorial day in Canada and Australia? I'm guessing it's an American thing)! ......

http://www.retroimageapparel.com/retroimagecatalog/jerseys/jsywmn-03.html

Nup, we don't have memorial day here.  We had ANZAC day on the 25th April and we will have the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June.    (Although it's not really her birthday...)

LOVE the jersey by the way!!!  I really like that gladiator design although the orange clashes with the pink on my bike

bcart1991 - 2008-05-24 9:24 AM I scored a SWEET new frame yesterday, should be here within a week. Carbon/Ti yumminess. SO excited. WOO HOO!!! Everyone have a safe and great weekend!

Carbon and Ti - Wouldn't happen to be a Quinty Lucero??  FH is trying to get me to go Ti for my next bike and after the rough road on Sir Samuel Griffith drive as I went on it today I'm almost inclined to agree!   He has a lightspeed!  Damn sexy bike.

So where are the photos???

SpiritFire - 2008-05-24 9:47 AM

We had our Victoria Day long weekend last weekend ... but what's funny is - they do not celebrate the holiday in Britian, only the other Commonwealth states ... but ... the Queen is British!! haha

I'm guessing our "Queen's Birthday" is your "victoria day"    We don't have Victoria day and the holiday is not really relevant over here.  It's a good excuse to do nothing.  Au

SpiritFire - 2008-05-24 9:48 AM I'M DONE I'M DONE......

Well done Trina!

Tammie: - Sucks about hubby having to work this weekend.  Hope you get your run in.  (Yeah I want a long weekend too!)

AndriaLL - 2008-05-24 10:49 AM

Tomorrow my oldest daughter turns 10 and we're having a party at a water park. It conflicts with my tri groups OWS, so I will miss that....

Happy birthday to your daughter.  You'll get another chance to OWS I'm sure.  But tomorrow you'll be run raggard as you tend to your daughters friends!  EEEP!  A water park!  Hope you count that as Running

Yes, very nice jersey.

Not a QR (I wish I could have gotten one for this price). She's a Pedal Force Fusion. Pedal Force uses the same frame specs as MUCH more $$$ makers, but doesn't have the marketing or sponsorship budgets to cover.

I don't have a name for her yet...

Not bad for under $475 delivered.

Sorry for not checking in much this week, folks.  Work really kicked my tail.  It seemed like I was handling crisis after crisis which, of course, put me behind with all my "regular" work.  But I survived and have a wonderful three day weekend to enjoy!  I've got a swim and a trip to the bike shop on the shedule for today.  Tomorrow, it's the Indianapolis 500 so I'll be at the track watching cars go zoomy, zoomy in a big circle.  Should be a good race this year and the weather looks like it's going to be fabulous!  Monday I'm hoping for a long bike ride and getting some work done on the house.  Hope everyone has a fab weekend!

Ditto on the not checking front - this week has been manic at work. I'm really excited about Tuesday though as I'm planning on handing my notice as I've got a new job.

Well done on finishing Trina - that's great going.

I need a bike class Brian - especially on on confidence with clipless pedals. Oh and nice frame. It looks lovely.

I managed a ride and swim today and I'm going to try and get a run in tomorrow. I'm also excited as I think we're going to able to go climbing for the first time in ages. I'm really excited. We've got a long weekend this weekend but Monday is supposed to be a rest day - although I might get in the swim I missed on Wednesday.

Oh my -- let me reintroduce myself... sorry i've been away so long. Got consumed preparing for tri that happened last week (thanks for the good words before and after) and then got consumed in readjusting to life after it was over. Have been a complete slacker this week - only ran once and then this morning I did a local 5k. Actually got a good time (for me). Motivation is all I need now - to get back into my schedule.

Oh -- the tri suit worked great by the way! Ended up wearing bathing suit top underneath though to keep HR monitor in place. Thanks for insight / tips!!

Good morning all ... well I went for a quick little run after I got home from volunteering, and I am very happy to report that my foot held up well! Now it's a waiting game, see how it feels later on today and tomorrow - but I think I just might be good to go again!

Felt a bit sad this morning, knowing there was a triathlon going on without me ... I thought about the race preps I'd be doing, etc ... but the excitement of Relay Exchange Zone One at the Oak Bay Half distracted me.

And now it's off to play in the garden. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday - or HAD a wonderful Sunday for those of you on another continent. ;-)

You'd feel so much worse thinking that you wish you hadn't injured yourself by taking part if you ended up doing it and it all went wrong. I know you feel you're missing out but it is for the best. As we say in diving ' the water will always be there another day' except in this case it would be the water/road/path etc. will always be there another day.

I've been WAY too lazy this weekend. Gotta get off my rear and ride!

I did work on my tri-bike fit a little this morning. We'll test it out later.

On the good side, I haven't been partaking of my usual garbage diet...

I am about to partake of a good local Ortega ... so even though I've been training the last few days - my diet is sliding. Hmmm ... tricky, this ...

I don't even try to eat right. I know it won't work.

All efforts usually last 7-10 days, then I fall off the wagon. Been there, done that too many times.

All I can do is try and keep up my training.

Hey folks - how was everyone's weekend? I got out and rode yesterday and the day before, and ran on Saturday - fast run, for me, anyway. Wore my HRM just to see what would happen. Seems as though my hr went way too high - I mean, it was hot and I was pushing hard, but not so hard that I felt like I was going to keel over. I haven't plotted out heart rate zones or anything yet.

Did you enjoy your long weekend? ... I hope your weather was better than ours - where the heck is spring, anyway?!? ... ;-)

On the tap today - a swim and maybe a run. Tomorrow - I'm being brave and going for a bike ride.

I don't own a HRM ... often thought about it, but in the past when I've worn one I just couldn't get comfortable with something strapped around my chest. Felt almost claustrophobic. So instead I just go by perceived effort. Good enough for me, for now.

I had a rocking holiday weekend!  I bought a road bike (Specialized Allez), enjoyed some great weather, had fun at the Indy 500, and actually got to spend some quality time with The Dude.

It's a major downer to have to be back at work today.  I think they're trying to see if they can make me snap.

I think taking a few weeks off training was the best thing I could have done ... not only have I had more energy in the gym and out running, but today I had a killer swim - swam the longest I ever have before without stopping, and that was AFTER 30 min worth of drills! ...
I'm hoping this continues to the bike ride tomorrow. ;-)

Hi girls and guy,

I had a great weekend training-wise...and birthday party wise as well.  I did in fact make it up not only Lee Hill Road and Old Stage...but continued up Left Hand Canyon to Jamestown!!!  (No stopping) I wish I knew how much of a climb that is in feet so you could all understand.  My HR hit 200 on Lee Hill, though, and it was an hour of climbing with no break.  Does that help?  The downhill went much faster of course.

Then I got a new PR in a 10K run yesterday at the BolderBOULDER.  I was like 9900th place in my age group...but it's a huge race.  I do have a race report if you click it in my blog.  It's not public (my PR is still over an hour).

Birthday party was fun, although I had a tough time avoiding the potato chips.  I never liked them until my diet had to be so restricted on sodium!  No they're always on my mind!  My daughter really impressed me this year by writing all of her Thank You notes herself...yesterday!  She's better than I am!

I hope everyone is having a great day.  Nice bike frame BCart

Good to hear the foot is holding up nicely Trina.    It really sucks knowing there's a tri that you should of been doing that's going on without you.  I entered the Bribie tri series last year and missed the first one because on the saturday I came down with an eye infection.  I had totally lost sight in my left eye (I couldn't keep it open) and sunglasses and goggles were a NIGHTMARE.  So there was no feasible way for me to drive up knowing I was blind and all.  Then overnight the RIGHT eye had flared up.  yay...  I was devestated!  I really really really wanted to race that race last year!  It was compounded by the fact my best friend had come to visit as well from Sydney and we couldn't do anything either except go to the Emergency room.     I hate that "I WANNA RACE BUT KNOW THAT I SHOULDN'T"  feeling....

I'll get you next time Gadget... NEXT TIME!!!!  he he he.
