Yeah, I watched the ManUre game. It was pretty exciting until the floodgates opened. I didn't really like the PK call. It looked to me like Gomes got the ball, and the game totally changed after that. The commentators mentioned a possible trade of Tevez to LFC? I've been pretty impressed by the guy and think that would be good.

I was able to catch the first half of the Chicago game, and was surprised to hear they were able to salvage a point out of the game.

And finally, I watched the Sounders game. Wow, they look good. They played a rookie, Steve Zakuani, he looked great and scored the first goal. The future looks good. They sold out their fourth game in a row--28,000+.

Tevez to LFC?  Missed that one.  Huh.  Not certain how I feel about him.  In general.  I know he is a hard worker.  And frankly, is one of the less obnoxious players on MU.

Yeah.  The wife and I were losing our minds when the equalizer went in.  She was running around the living room cheering and I shot up off the sofa and screamed like we had just won the Cup!  I love this game.

I get to see the Sounders this Saturday.  They are coming to Chicago.  Looks like the weather will be significantly better than our last match.  This will be a good game.  Seattle has quite the squad and it should be interesting to see how our two teams match up.

Good game this weekend between Chicago/Seattle. I really think Chicago played better and Seattle was fortunate to get the draw. I was impressed by Blanco--dude's almost as old as me!

Question on the Champion's league. ManUre beat Arsenel 1-0 last week at home, and they keep saying they're tied? I don't get it. If Arsenal wins 1-0 tomorrow (or any other scrore winning by one goal), do they advance?

Wow, did anyone catch the Chelsea/Barcelona game? Dramatic goal at the end of the game by Barcelona to give them a trip to Rome.

The TV coverage showed some of the Chelsea players verbally abusing the ref after the game. After the equalizer, Chelsea had a scoring opportunity and it appeared that a shot went off the back of the shoulder of a defender. Chelsea claimed a hand-ball, but they had benefited from a questionable call on a red card that left Barcelona short-handed for much of the second half.

Anyway, great game. Totally exciting finish.

Quality in depth my friend - I dont like them either but they have the strength and talent in the right places where it is hard to beat them...

The EPL is getting predictable...as much as I hate to hear the rhetoric by Platini about money spoiling the parity...he is right....

Apparently Roman Abramovich is not happy with Ballack and Drogba's antics after the CL game..word is they are done at Stanford bridge....

Could Theo Walcott hit a cows arse with a banjo?! Because he certainly cannot hit the goal from 8 yards even with 5 attempts!

Stoke are safe....the world is imploding...( I went to college there and still cant stand them)

The WPS is a waste of time..........

Oh sure.  Put logic into my rant so I can't counter it!!!

And unfortunately, I do agree that the EPL is getting predictable at the top.  However, Hull and Stoke made it VERY interesting at the bottom this year.  And now that Stoke is safe, let's see what they do in their second year.

And I was really hoping that someone, anyone, would have a game of their lives and upset the Red Devils.  Unfortunately, that is looking quite unrealistic.

Oh, and since they still have a game in hand, do the absolutely have to play it?  Meaning, if the match becomes meaningless to standings at the end of the season, can the EPL just write it off or will it have to be played?

*sigh*

so now that the EPL season is done (yes I know there is still more to be played) I will start to focus on MLS (Fire in first place) and WC Qualifiers (going to the June 6th USMNT v. Honduras match).

What about y'all?  Or is Europe it for you?

Yes, Chicago looks very good. They played a good game against Seattle and I felt Seattle was fortunate to get a point out of that game.

The Sounders had a good come-from-behind draw on the road against an impressive Colorado squad last weekend. A couple of weeks ago, Seattle announced that they will expand available seating at Qwest field. They've sold out games well in advance.

Looking forward to the Champions league final tomorrow. Go Barcelona!!!!

No kidding.  Come on Barca!!!  Down with the Red Devils.

Going to another Fire match this Sunday.  Yeah, Chicago screwed the pooch against Seattle.  Should have won.  Just a poor let down in the back 3.  In all actuality, they have had more draws than they should have.  There were plenty of matches already this year where they were dominating and just took the foot off the gas and came away with a draw.  Hopefully it won't bite them in the azz like it did for Liverpool.

Eerily similar to the Barca/ Arsenal final...Henry had 3 chances to score in the fisrt 10 mins in that one...substitute Ronaldo in this one....missed them all....Barca score and go on to win.

Manure looked poor...Anderson/Carrick/Giggs in midfield were just out classed. Technically inferior and tactically out matched.

I dont see it as a classic game..Barca were better but not brilliant...they just have better technical players all round...pretty sad to say since they are all making a great living doing this!

Didn't get to see it, but do you think this is due to the long season they just completed?  You know, competing in the two different cups at home, plus the regular season, plus the World Club Cup, plus the CL tournament?  Was this just a culmination of a bunch of very tired players?

Absolutely.  My son and I are both Arsenal fans.  I watch the world cup as often as I can and even had the chance to see a few exhibition games.

As someone said in the first reply on this thread...

Fatigue may be a factor - however, Barca have probably played a similar number of games..( I'll do the research ) - La Liga is definitely not as physically demanding as the EPL so that may be an issue...I think the real problem is that it is twice as hard to play without the ball than with it...Manure had to chase a lot because they could not retain the ball, off the ball movement was poor so they turned the ball over all the time....if you see the game..watch the combinations and the movement to give the player with the ball options that Barca has...especially the midfield- midfield passing and the defense-mid...they retain possession very well - carrick/anderson/giggs were dominated in the middle so Manure had no platform to attack...

Best team won...by a country mile!

I expect an off season overhaul for Manure..out goes Scholes/Giggs etc and in come some established younger midfield talent....who?....dont know yet!

That's a good analysis of the game. The domination of posession by Barca was impressive. I was surprised, really. Most of the guys doing the pregame were saying that ManUre were overwhelming favorites. As they say, guess that's why they play the games.

Very pleased with the result!!!

I HATE it when these games are on the West Coast.  I fell asleep!!!!  Damn thing started at 9:30 PM.  But I did read the review.  Interestingly enough, I went to college with the head ref.

Anyway, I also read on the Fan's forum this morning that 1/2 the fans said it was bogus and 1/2 said it was justified.  Ultimately, it sounds like we played quite poorly for 75+ minutes and then realized we were about to lose our first match and then got bloody lucky to pull out the win.  I'm gonna see if I can torrent the match this weekend, if I have time.
