So I'm super excited - I went for an extra bonus run today! It was an easy jog out, but still, I chose a hillier course (not the trail run, but also not the almost-flat road run). Between two challenges (and the crappy weather one) and my meds really kicking into high gear, I seem to finally be out of the HORRID funk I've been in for the past two three too many months. I now finally have hope of seeing the scale go DOWN again, rather than creeping ever upward.

Got up at 4:45 to get my first of three runs in today.  Yikes!  Nice easy two miles this morning.  Longer run this afternoon after I drop Liam off at school-I have to go and pick up Bryan's truck on base.  He is leaving today and I'm not waking up three small kids at 6:00 to take him to work.  And then a short 1 mile run to pick up Liam at the school.  Busy day!  Course I think I am swimming for this challenge....

ebshot - 2008-12-03 9:27 AM I still can't figure out how to change to font color.  One day I'll figure it out!

That's awesome, Erica....thank you so much! <img align='middle' src='https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif'>

No problem.

I want to run a marathon in May but don't know if I am willing to commit to training for it!  It's a huge time commitment for me with Bryan being gone so much, I am not sure I can do the long runs with the kiddos.  I need to decided soon!

The training is a huge commitment of time and energy....the marathon itself is the easy part!....my first two marathons were in the late fall which meant the bulk of my training was in the heat....I really do not run well in the heat..... so I decided to do a June marathon which would make most of my training in the lovely spring weather!.....you should do it, Erica!

That's what I am thinking too!  I just don't do well with heat...at all.  Like I pass out when I get too hot!  So, a spring marathon would work well!  Peer pressure gets me every time!

Got in a morning swim again. Really felt like sleeping in, but then I thought about the challenges and said, "nope, I gotta go." Turned out to be a great swim - pool was pretty empty. Did a 500/400/300/200/100 set - and much faster than I had been before. And I'm only getting back into this after about 3 months layoff. Surprised me.

It's all about appreciating the little things in life that make it all worthwhile. If I can go to work with a smile, then maybe someone else who is feeling down might see me and get a boost, and they'll pay it forward, and so on and so on.

After this weekend is over, I think I need to lay off the wine.  I am wasting way too many calories on it!  Yikes!  It's worth it though!

Afternoon all,

Happy Birthday Erica!!!!!!!!

Hope your day is extra special!  Also, you are totally right, wine is worth the calories.

I got to say though, since starting this healthy eating/working out thing I am constantly thinking about calories and what is worth the splurge and what is not.  Most of the time this is a good thing but every once in a while I wish I wouldn't.

Oh and Erica I don't know if you know this rule or not, but on your birthday there is no such things as calories.

I just finished up a 4.1 mi run/walk.  I think I have gotten to the point where my lungs/stamina is like you can do this just keep going, but my knees still have the wicked smile and are just wanting for me to try so they can laugh in my face.  So, instead of just going for a full 30min run (like I want to)  I am sticking to the plan and breaking it up into intervals.  Sometimes I wish my whole body would get on the same page and let me do what I want to.

Wow! That's actually pretty funny. I never even considered that the effect that the smile had on this team. I was just mentioning my thoughts. But that actually brought another smile back to me.

Hmmmm...starting to feel not so bad about all my woes. Another one of the things I'm REALLY finally understanding. The more you want to receive, the more you have to give. "Give to Receive".

Happy Day, Toddies!
