I'm pretty allergic to bee stings ( I carry an epi pen on the bike as bees have tried to kill me several times on the bike here...)...I am going to look to see if there is a repellent for jellyfish...hmmm Have a great weekend everyone!...staying in Coz until wednesday, plan to do some snorkling with my sister and husband as neither one scuba dive!
How did Miami go? I've heard some bad things. I hope it wasn't too bad. |

Veteran 493 West Palm Beach | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread Thanks for asking about Miami 70.3...an F+ race!!!!! I survived though!!!! you can read my race report and laugh a little. I had a flat 1/4mile into the bike portion and it took me 20min (don't laugh!) to change the damn back tire...this has always been my nightmare to have a flat at the IM...God knows I am slow enough and I don't need anything to slow me down. This was great training though despite having to go up a bridge 8xs!!! running out of water, gatorade, no food at any of the running stations (well they had powerbars but no gels, oranges, etc)..no water at the end, crapy water start and finish (had to scream at a guy not to drown the girl next to me trying to get out ...truly a FIASCO...but I still had fun ;-) Taper here I come!!! |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread Wheeeeeee Did Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday. 4:53. Not bad for me, and in line with the pace I hope to maintain (in my dreams) at Cozumel. Took Monday off, 2 mile swim Tuesday, 5 mile run yesterday and gearing up for my last really long bike this weekend. Looking forward to packing. Still need to find a bike box. |

Member 20 | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread Good stuff from everyone on the training! So is this weekend pretty much the last 'long weekend' for everyone? Would a 100-miler on the 13th or so be pushing it too close to the race you think? And Troy, post-race celebrations at The City sound amazing to me. Is it a bar? |

And Troy, post-race celebrations at The City sound amazing to me. Is it a bar? I've got a 6 hour ride on Sunday, but after that it's pretty much taper time. If it were me, I wouldn't do a 100 miler 3 weeks before the race. I'm just not sure that my body would truly recover to the point needed for race day. Keep in mind, I'm no coach and I havent' even done a full IM yet. |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread I think a 100 miler on the 13th may be close, but it depends on how your body responds and the workload the rest of the week. Then again, I may be running 13.1's on sat and sunday that weekend if my wife has her way. |

Member 14 | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread I got a bike box from shipbikes.com and used it to ship my bike to San Diego last year. The box should last for at least 3 round trips. The box is designed that you only have to do minimal dismantling of your bike and it is secured inside so it arrives safely. I will pack mine up next weekend and will ship it via Federal Express to my hotel in Cozumel. |

I also believe you have to pay import tax AND it could get held in customs. Maybe someone else could confirm that. |

Master 1402 Cumming, Georgia | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread TAPER TIME!!!!! Next weekend is still somewhat of a long training weekend with a 4 hour bike and 2 hour run planned. I missed my long ride by 45 minutes because I forgot it was daylight savings and ran out of light. I have to figure out a packing list now. It is almost here |

Veteran 265 Puerto Aventuras | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread eliwashere - 2010-11-04 8:44 PM Anyone know what cell phone options are available in cozumel? The local carriers are Telcel (which should run AT&T and Sprint) and Iusacell (which runs Verizon) I think... but there are plenty of spots in the island with no coverage. In the center, you should have no cell problems, except for the huge roaming bill. I am not sure about shipping a bike via FedEx. As mentioned, sometimes on arrival customs can be pretty tough or they can ask you for your receipt and want to charge you import taxes. Since it is being shipped to Cozumel and everyone will know about the race, it may not be a problem, but its a bit risky. Good luck |

Regular 52 kapolei, | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread I work for FedEx and enjoy a 75% employee discount and WON'T be using our service and would not recommend it for shipping a bike due to reasons already stated plus the beating the sort facilities put on larger, heavier, awkward packages---much worse than luggage handlers. We're great for overnight letters and non-fragile items, but they don't call working in the hub "throwing boxes" without good reason. I also was under the impression that our closest service center was Cancun. Not even sure FedEx delivers to cozumel. Hope everyone is enjoying taper time! I might even have a beer. |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread Last big training day come and gone. 6 hour ride with 3 of it in brutal headwind and then a 6 mile run. Felt pretty good, even though it wasn't on my tri bike. Looking forward to the next few weeks and getting super excited. |

Veteran 283 | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread I had a great time spectating down at Ironman Florida this weekend! I also got my last big training weekend in down there. I rode most of the bike course on Friday (108 miles) and ran 20 miles on Saturday. Now it's time to taper! It was motivating to train in that environment! Plus it was a fun watching everyone race down there. |

It is so much easier to communicate when people can understand what I mean rather than what I actually say Yeah - I meant 2 weeks. 19 days, 21 hours to go..... |

New user 41 | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread This will be my first IM, and I'm seriously freaking out... mostly about the swim, really wish I had my wetsuit. Anyway, has anyone recieved any type of race kit with information on when to be where, etc? This is my first IM event, and in most of the big marathons and triathlons I've done, you get some sort of information prior. Guess I'm expecting a lot for my 600 bucks |

All of the information is on the website, but nothing to print. I guess I will copy and paste into my own document to keep organized. My wife usually does all of the races with me. She is the race planner. I am on my own this time! She is just enjoying the vacation! |

Expert 658 San Diego | Subject: RE: IronMan Cozumel : Official Thread Hey everyone. I just got done with IMFL so my time has been taken up over in that forum and in my brain, but now it's time to focus on COZ. Taking this week easy then next week I'll just have to get what I can in without burning out. COZ should be interesting but a whole lot of fun. I get in Friday to Cancun then have to take the bus/ferry to Cozumel. Any plans for meet-ups Friday evening or Saturday. I didn't get the chance to meet anyone at FL because of a crazy tight schedule I had. I'm staying at the Hotel Boutique Vista Del Mar. |
