I see a bunch of people are in for the April challenge...it should be an exciting month for me...so long as my body cooperates, my volume is going to be really high as I ramp up for my Olympic in May.

I'm already thinking

Swim - 35,000 yds (march goal 30,000 yds)
Bike - 400 miles (march goal 300 miles)
Run - 80 miles (march goal 100 miles)
ST - 8 sessions

I'm going to cut back my running to help allow for better recovery for the swim and bike.

I haven't signed up YET but I will. I just really need to think about my goals since we will be moving into a hotel at the end of the month and getting ready to move the rest of the time. I whole heartedly plan on sticking to my plan but we all know how hard that can be during a time like this!

Hey...did I tell you guys that I rode my bike for the first time in weeks on Friday? I don't think I did so i'm telling you now! I had absolutely NO shoulder issues while riding but it did kill me the next day. No biggie though...ice massage and ibuprofen are my friends! I still plan on focusing my efforts on marathon training but it is great to know that I really am getting better, even if it is sloooooow going. Plus, I plan on getting into my ortho guy since I think I should be better off than I am by now so I'm hoping to get an MRI before leaving.

Speaking of training, does anyone else have an issue with focusing their efforts on more than one major thing at a time unless they are all wrapped up into one? (Did that make sense to anyone but me?!) What I mean is, since I decided to do a marathon this year I have a hard time being able to focus my efforts on the bike and swim as well (it just so happens that with my shoulder, this isn't too much of a problem...but then again, that along with our move is the reason I decided to concentrate solely on running in the first place.) However, if I were following a plan for say a HIM, then it wouldn't be an issue cuz its all wrapped up into one nice package of plan. Just curious!

Morning Gang!

I'm officially over 100% overall, but I've got 3/4 of a mile to go on the bike to have 100% on each individual goal!   I should make 105 on all though, assuming I get a short spin, swim and 1 more run in this week.   Shouldn't be too hard!

Stacie-- so sorry to hear about your puppy!   Never easy!

dimplespoo - 2010-03-28 9:39 AM Hey Everyone!
Just wanted to let you know I will be out of the chatting with the team for a bit probably - just not feeling it right now. Yesterday we lost our 9.5 month old puppy Jake. He was hit by a car and died in my hubbies arms within 10 min. We are lost right now. No workout yesterday but I will see what I can do to get it in today and the rest of the days. Right now it is just hard for us. I know some people might just say he was a dog but he was so so so much more for us.

I will try to get the workouts in though so I don't let the team down. If I am not as talkative (like I ever was) I am sorry.

Stacie

I am so sorry for your loss.  Pets can mean a great deal and have a special bond and no one should minimize that. Its sad he had such a short life.

I will probably skip this month because we are traveling for 10 days and I have TransIowa.  I could wimp out and just do bike mileage but that is no challenge

May I am shooting for a new swim record for me!  You guys helped me find my swim mojo and for that I will be forever appreciative!

We'll miss you in April.  It just won't be the same without Mr Bill post padding the challenge forum.

pdbman - 2010-03-29 11:11 AM Hey Bill.  Did you ever find anything on the back stuff you got from your chiro?

All I came across was the core workouts he gave me.

If you are interested in those I can bring them to work, scan them in, and e-mail them to you?

Let me know and pm me e-mail address if so!

Yeah if you wouldn't mind.  I'm going to have to find something to get things right with my lower back before I start them but I am in need of a good core workout once things are straightened out.  I seem to do fine with the run and swim, its sitting (or standing after) and the bike ride that seem to be giving me problems. I'll PM you my email.
Thanks.

Today's challenge update:
If there is anyone that doesn't have the spreadsheet up to date, please take a few minutes to do so.
The bEASTies are kicking our butts on goal one but we are ahead on everything else.  We only have them by 1% though on the overall challenge so if you have some time, see if you can squeeze in and extra workout or two so we can pad the lead a little bit. Remember everything you do has a bigger impact on our team results because we have a smaller team than the bEASTies. Only 3 days left!
_____bEASTies - Twisters
Goal 1 - 82.3% - 77.5% Frown
Goal 2 - 75.6% - 77.3% Smile
Goal 3 - 65.9% - 75.2% Smile
Goal 4 - 71.5% - 86.4% Smile
Overall - 75.6% - 76.6% Surprised

I just have masters class on the schedule today.  That should get me to 105% of my swimming goal.  I should also cap out 105% of my biking goal tomorrow...but I'll likely only get ~ 90% of my running goal.  Still a smidge over 100% overall though.

Shhh.... Don't tell any one. I guess some people were updating the spreadsheet this morning, plus I checked the logs on some that didn't look like they were updating the spreadsheet and got it updated.  Someone on the bEASTies said they updated their spreadsheet from the logs this morning so hopefully it is accurate.  We're in the lead.  On some goals its a slight margin of .4%, on others by about 20%. Overall we're up by about 7%. Keep up the good work! We should have this unless they pull off some miraculous comeback! Just don't let the bEASTies hear or they may make some big push to try to beat us.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their condolences - we are doing better - not great but better. Hubby had appts today for his military retirement and I am working to keep our minds off of it. It is awful quiet here in the house but that is to be expected. We are focusing on our two girls (we have two other dogs) and they are helping quite a bit.

I will try to get out for 2.5 miles run today - that will take me down to 2.5 to go. I will make the goal this week. Also think I can get in another core, stretch and bike to make 105% on those as well

Let's give a good push to the end.
