I was supposed to wrap up my meetings at 3pm and then go run at the gym. Well, my day blew up and I ended up working straight until Kel got home around 7. I didn' t want to do anything but she talked me into doing as much as I could on the trainer, up to 45 minutes. I ended up getting in 25 minutes before I was just out of energy. At least I did something, though. suck it up buttercup if we get skinnier now, just think of all the clams we can eat and beer we can drink in september on MV - domt forget to sign up today. I don't eat clams. Beer, on the other hand.... No comment. How about swordfish? |

I couldn't figure out a way to clean up my post enough to hit "submit". Went to the gym hoping the pool was open. Wasn't really sure about the schedule. It wasn't. Took my bike as a contingency plan though. Good ride, besides almost getting squashed by a car again. Still getting used to my clip ons. May stop riding outdoors at 5 AM due to idiot drivers. |

There are always idiot drivers, no matter what time of day. I think that cars forget that bikes are vehicles too. I gotta say I'm impressed y'all kept it so clean with the swordfish. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group - CLOSED I was one of those cars at one time. I get it. There are some roads up the hwy about 5 exits that are rarely traveled. Amazing how close to the country and city one can be here. There are really long group rides out there every Saturday. May jump on that more often and keep it on the trainer until I can figure out how to get a bike workout in during daylight hours. |

144 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group - CLOSED Well, I started the day with good intentions went to the gym prepared to do my swim and I got exactly 150 yrds into my swim and the life guard pulled everyone out of the pool due to lighting and of course I didn't think to bring other workout clothes. So now I have to figure out away to get back to the gym to swim and workout later. Which normally wouldn't be a problem but, as luck would have it I'm picking up relatives at the airport that will be staying with us for a week. The price you have to pay for living in paradise |

I have very few options for biking around here as far as traffic goes. I can travel a bit, but what I find better is to just get up early and go. There's not much traffic at 5 a.m., and I'm out with at least one blinking light, day-glo safety vest and a headlight. There's enough traffic around here that I won't start a bike ride after 9 |

Is 10 minutes after a hard ride an OK time for a run right after a bike. Is that enough time to get the junk out? Or is it generally more that is recommended? |

Master 2538 Albuquerque | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group - CLOSED Speaking of wetsuits I took that survey here on BT (top of the page) and there's a $250 code for Xterra full sleeve suits. Does anyone here have the Vortex 3? I'm thinking about buying that one, as it would be $150 after the discount. Not a bad way to see how I like wetsuits and get me started on open water swims. Most every lake here in NM is cold, so it's almost a necessity for anything except the hottest months. |

The Vortex 3 is notorious for ripping (its nickname is the Rip-Terra) because it has really thin neoprene in the arms/shoulders. I personally love Blue Seventy and have also had good luck with Orca. |

You should get your brick runs started within 10 minutes of your bike -- the sooner the better. |

Extreme Veteran 585 Price, UT | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group - CLOSED I also live in an area with cold lakes. A week before my first tri the lake was still well under 60 degrees. I wanted my own wet suit because I wanted to practice in OW before hand. So I went up to our closest Tri store and they had used rentals for sale. I got a sweet deal on one only used once ($150) that went for $250 new. I have used it for practice and 2 tris now. It is a blue seventy. The upside was I got to learn how to put it on right and swim in the endless pool in it before I bought it, No regrets getting it. Time is good to go looking for deals on used rentals from last season |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group - CLOSED Did what I think was an interval workout tonight. Over 41 minutes, I ran at a pretty good pace for 2 mins., starting at a 9:34 pace, increasing that to an 8:00 pace as i moved on. Jogging for 1 minute after every 2 minutes at the higher pace. It felt good. (whoa, that sounds confusing doesn't it???) More snow on the way tomorrow and saturday. Hopefully not too much builds up Good luck in the race this sunday Kelly and Trilooney. Champion 5615 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group - CLOSED I have a QR SuperFull wetsuit that I had ordered from TriSports in 2006 which is still in really good condition aside from a stupid-user tear in the shoulder. When I was looking for a wetsuit, it was right after my first tri and I had rented a wetsuit from a local tri shop. It was the entry level XTerra and it was like swimming in a tire. No flexibility or movement in the suit and very heavy rubber. I tried on a bunch of suits and found that the QR fit me best and was the most comfortable. I'm probably going to end up buying a new wetsuit for the upcoming season but I first want to see if I can lose weight to get into a smaller size. |

Its a good option if you want to try before you buy. Plus there a BT user discount. |

Erica (trilooney), Shaun (cubefarmgopher), Jeff-y (jsklarz) and I are doing a 5K on Sunday and I know Bruce (bwingate) is (hopefully weather permitting) doing a 10 miler tomorrow. Anyone else racing? Any fun plans? |

Extreme Veteran 745 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group - CLOSED Well, my 10 miler isn't going to happen tomorrow. Saturday I'll probably run 8-10 miles on my own and then its off to work to get some motions out before I go on vacation week after next. Sunday is my official long run - 11 miles. I have to map out a route for that. And hopefully I will also watch the Jets not embarrass themselves Saturday night and get in a swim or two. |
