Got my first morning workout in today. I like my morning workouts. After my kids were born, first one will be 16 soon, I started working out in the morning. It might take a little while to get used to it, but in the long run has worked out well. When I first started working out in the morning I would get up around 5, but a few years ago we got a Lab and he needs a workout in the morning too so now I try to get up between 4:15 and 4:30. |

Regular 152 | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed I have to celebrate for a minute. As you all know, this is year one for me after a long period of inactivity. Well, last night I did a full 20 minutes of jog/run on the treadmill with a 10 minute mile tucked into the middle. While that may not seem like a big deal, that was my first 10 minute mile in 20 years, and I did it at 248 lbs. |

Regular 176 | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed Great job! Step by step... On the other end of the spectrum, I had a really bad workout Wednesday in the pool. Felt off, and I couldn't get a steady stroke going. Was so frustrated I stopped and took a day and half break from run bike swim. I would stopped all physical activity, but the snow gods decided that Boston was not covered with enough of the white stuff! Shoveling now counts as strength training in my book when it is over 6in deep! |

Veteran 124 On my Bike or SUP, west of OBX | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed Just did my first ride on the new bike, 22 miles, and I have to say it fun but its going to take some getting used to. Having some trouble breathing too deeply when on the areo bars. I know it will take some time to get used to it but I am not known for my patience. Now for some core work. |

Regular 176 | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed Congrats on the new bike! How long do you expect it will take you to get used to the bike? I may have missed it, but did you have aero bars before? I am curious as I will be getting a new bike in March or so, and it will be my first tri specific bike. As for workouts, I was able to get through 1.5h on the bike (trainer) with no issues, after swimming 3100y last night. Last night was 180 degrees from earlier in the week, when I felt like crud in the pool. Felt really strong and comfortable, and could have gone on a lot longer! If I could only learn how to flip turn! Have a great and productive weekend, everyone! |

This is my first TRI specific bike (FELT B16) and I love it. Its also my first experience with aero bars. I did another 21 miles today and feel like I am getting better every time I get on it. Plus today I got to see how it will handle with a strong cross wind... That was fun!! a couple of times I lost my focus and thought I might need to check my shorts!! 3100Y's is beastly!!! That is awesome! I have never gone further then 2000 and the last time I tried a flip turn I think I gave the lifeguard a scare and the pool lost a few gallons of water. |

Veteran 124 On my Bike or SUP, west of OBX | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed My computer says I am faster!! LOL I am mixing my riding position up. I can't stay in the aero position for more then a few minutes before by neck starts to bother me, plus my biking endurance kind of sucks. It's getting better each time I ride. My neck and shoulders a little sore. |

And um, yeah 3000 yards in the water is, well, AWESOME! I am definitely not there yet but, hey, it's year one for me! Oh, and thanks to everyone who provided feedback on bike purchases. That part of the journey is complete. Keep up the good work everyone! |

Extreme Veteran 1329 Wausau WI | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed If you are having trouble in the aero positon it could be a bike fit issue. Some of the better bike shops can do a good fit. I know I had some neck pain and went to the chiropractor and that helped a lot. Hope everyone else is getting better and ready for a new month of training. |

Member 9 | Subject: RE: Lumber Dad's Mentor Group - Closed I like this tracking of exercise.. it is amazing how fast I rack up the time. S: 9200.00 Yd - 3h 50m B: 66.40 Mi - 4h 06m 30s R: 18.46 Mi - 3h 15m 30s Str: 3h 55m Sp: 7h 16m The last week was not a good as the first couple of weeks because I managed to get a mild version of the viral crud going around. I only managed to get into the gym 3 days but I was able to run my 1st 5K of the year and had a PR.. 36.50 . I also did a 21 mile ride on the road bike on Sunday.. that is until I got a flat at mile 21 and had to walk the remaining 3 miles home.. Note to self: not only learn how to replace a tire on the road but also have a spare tube in bag! |
