I have jury duty . For the first time ever. So I may have sit around and waste time a lot this week. (But at least they have wireless in the courthouse and I have an iPad . So not all bad.)

Establish a reason why you are bias in the case you can most likely get out of it (or so I've heard).
I am pretty sure I am not going to get picked. By luck I am juror 70 out of 70. So I am expecting to be dismissed tomorrow. But an ice storm is coming so it will likely get detailed until Wednesday. It's for aggravated sexual assume on a child, so I'm really glad not to be picked.

Seems like everyone had a good weekend.

My HM was fun.  I was shooting for under 2 hrs...a bit of a high goal I know but it didn't hurt to try...came in at 2:02:58.  I was very proud of myself and left everything out on the course.

Did some yoga today and just trying to rest a bit.

Great job!!!!!!

yes you can shorten the run up a bit, and maybe include a few a pickups. Friday is off, and Saturday is a race prep so 10-15 min each sport w/ 3-4x 20-30" pickups.

Should I do Saturday one after another with transitions included? I'll have to get my wife on board if I do to take stuff from the pool back home

I already made some changes based on thoughts and schedule.
M- did my swim (700yd)
T- Yoga and run (45 min.)
W- Swim (Drills)
Th- Run (32 min. with strides)
F-off
Sa- 500yd swim, 15 min on bike, 10 min run w/some strides on the golf course after.

Take your time with it. It's just ez breezy, making sure everything works.

Anybody in Texas do any workouts outside today? I forgot to bring some tri shorts to wear under my tights so I ran on the tready today, probably a better choice anyways.

Not me, I went outside once and that was enough!  I am going to try to make it to the gym tomorrow to run/swim if the roads are okay.

Nope...and it's looking like it will be a 2 hour session on the trainer for Saturday. I don't mind running in these temps, and plan on running outside when it's in the low 30s and probably snowing/sleeting down here on Thursday...but you cannot drag me on the bike outside under 50 degrees. Laughing

For all of you in the great state of Texas, I don't have much sympathy for you!  We've had one of the worst winters in recent memory up here in northwestern PA.  I've been relegated to the trainer since early November and rarely get outside to run.  My core workouts consist of shoveling snow.

Be thankful that your situation is temporary and please think of us that will be inside until April.

Trainer ride in the morning and skipping a trip to the pool because we're in the middle of an ice storm!

I'm in Florida, weather is perfect right now so I can't complain. Summer will be here soon since we kind of skip spring. Then you'll hear me whining about humidity and heat indexes near 100. So I guess we all get our fair share of something. Guess I better go get the air fixed in my car too!

That's the big problem with Dallas, we get some of the horrible cold, but then we get 100+ summers.  Sometimes I'm not really sure why I live here.

I'm in Helsinki this week, so running on the treadmill is about all I'm getting in. Back at home though they've cancelled school for the kids the past two days due to temp as low as -19 (they're driving my wife crazy; I have 3 little girls). Very funny thing happened earlier...was on the treadmill and kept dialing up the pace to get HR in the right zone and was thrilled by the "elevation" difference...or so I thought. The read-out was in km. We'll I guess I still have some work in front of me...

Good job on the half mary Hippo and Rhino.  I hope you're recovering well and basking in your accomplishment.

Trout, is the snow that just left Chicago heading your way now?  Our weather folk have were having a hard time figuring out how many inches fell because the 60mph winds kept blowing it away before they could measure.  The rough estimate for my suburban area was 18".  With all the drifting the hubs and I shoveled 4' of snow off the driveway this morning.

Fortunately I made it to the gym for my swim and test run on the treadmill yesterday before it hit then had just a 30 minute ride scheduled for today.  On the trainer of course.  I had a dream about riding outside the other night and it was lovely.  I think I'll be hitting the road around the time the kids starting wearing shorts to school again so sometime in March.

No school today or tomorrow so Thursday may be my "off" day this week.  Hopefully that won't lead to Friday, Saturday and Sunday being off too.

Oh, and this diet sucks.  I'm at the store almost daily and spending 3x as long preparing and cooking only to hear 3x as much complaining.  90 minutes on the trainer with only water, raisins and cashews is not my idea of a good time.  Okay, I'm done whining.

You can whine, I would hate to be in your position. My uncle and sister have to eat gluten free which is tough to keep up with too, and I think of all the things I would have to give up.

I've always held texas as a place that can compare to FL with its heat. I'm moving out of FL in the next 3-5 years, maybe GA or TN or somewhere like that where theres moderate temps. Like I said though everywhere has their fair share of something

Wow that's only about 10mph less than a category 1 hurricane!  We had rolling blackouts here in Texas and it really wasn't that cold comparitively.  However, the temperature variance here is crazy, I got a sunburn on the bike just this past Sunday and it was 18 yesterday.

We didn't get much of the Chicago snow, but I would have rather got that than what we did get hit with.  Freezing rain, sleet and ice is what we got (snow to the north, rain to the south).  Then the temps rose to 40 degrees and it rained for awhile.  Temps then dropped to low 20s and everything froze.

I gotta be honest, I'm really starting to feel those depressing winter blues.  The cold, snow and ice is getting old, but the days on end without any sun really stinks.  Usually there are at least a few days of relief in the winter, but not this year.  Thankfully Punxsutawney Phil (he's 2hrs south of me) said six more weeks until spring!

Day off tomorrow! Yayy for me!

Did 3 mile run tonight easy pace with 3 strides in the last mile, hard finish so that  I would come in under 24 and average 8 min miles.

We are getting some snow over here and my workouts are getting messed. This is turning into more of a recovery week for me. The pool I swim at is 30 miles away and driving there in the snow would take all day getting to and from there and plus there pool heater has been out and last night was wetsuitlegal so decided go ahead and cancel that swim too. Also yesterday the breaker kept tripping as I was doing a little speed session on the treadmills. Hopefully the weekend will be clear so I don't have to do my 4 hour ride on the trainer. I got a big superbowl brick session this weekend.

I have done nothing since Monday.  My street is solid ice (people were skating on it).  Now it is ice covered by 6 inches of snow.  One way or another I am going to the gym tomorrow to run on the treadmill.  I did think about finally using my trainer, but it was too cold to go to the garage and get it!!!

I missed 2 swims as well and I cut a coupld of trainer rides short due to shear boredom on the trainer (15min).  I sure hope it warms up enough to do my 4 hour ride tomorrow on ice free roads rather than my trainer.  I am too far from where I want to be to be missing long rides.
I am running 9 miles on Sunday with my wife then another 5 on my own.  Although not the fastest runner I still love running with my wife.  She was a good sport when I told her I signed her up for the Woodlands marathon.

Sounds like a rough week for everyone . I need a root canal so havent been sleeping, cant focus and missed yesterdays bike and todays run. Tomorrow is normally my day off but if the medications I got today help I might try to get the bike ride in. Sunday I am supposed to run 18km. This is the worst I have been derailed from my training plan which troubles me but the up side is that it IS February so I am still a long way away from any event.

Hopefully next week is a little better!

We used to talk about the dog days of summer, but you guys are going through the dog days of winter! Hand in there... Here's some motivation I've recently revisited this quote...

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And–which is more–you’ll be a Man, my son!
