Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Meant to get up at 4 to get my Tour ride in this morning so I could swim tonight but I was passed out. The ToS is brutal. So far 4 days in. The funny thing is I feel awesome for about the first 30 or 40 minutes of the ride, fresh and ready to go, but then the last 15-20 are just misery. My legs are definitely feeling it today. Stage 5 (tonight for me) isn't horrible, little over an hour of a ride, but stage 6 (Thursday) is 49 minutes of interval and then 33 minutes of just gradual increasing pain and suffering. I know I can make stage 5 tonight but stage 6 tomorrow may kill me. |

Member 65 | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed I really have a lot of respect for you guys with families who still find time to train. Seems like it would be almost impossible to me! I did a 2 mile run today, I really didn't want to, it's been raining heavily and very cold wind all day. Even 2 minutes into the run I wanted to stop and go home. Glad I didn't though I felt quite good. At the last portion of my run I almost felt like I couldn't get enough air, even though I was breathing deeply. Any ideas about that? |

That (or starting too hard) could account for the last 20 or so being considerably harder. |

Any ideas about that? Hmm, how was your pace compared to the beginning of the run? It being very cold can give you shorter breath, but that doesn't sound like what you're describing. |

That (or starting too hard) could account for the last 20 or so being considerably harder. I was just assuming it was fatigue from 4 days in a row of biking. I eat dinner around 6, put the kid down at 7, eat a few Gatorade gels about 10 minutes before getting on the bike around 7:30 then just have some water and maybe some Gatorade during the ride. Maybe I'll bring a few gels down with me and have it half way through. My life is based on food too, I should have thought of that. If I don't eat every 3-4 hours I pretty much hate life and feel exhausted and the second I get food into my stomach I feel 100x better. I attribute it to when I seriously was weight lifting and was on a super strict eating schedule, my body has never kicked the habit of needing constant food even though I barely lift anymore. |

I think I might just put it down to a freak incident, I've never experienced it before so I think I'll just ignore it. Looking forward to swimming tomorrow |

Veteran 421 Boston, MA | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Hey everyone, just checking in. Things have been crazy at work lately, which is usually when I have time to mess around on the forums. I just hate when work gets in the way of my fun! As for training, it's going, but slow. I've been getting on the trainer semi regularly, which has been going okay. My HRM and/or Garmin has been acting up though, so I've had to go off of RPE. Running is still not happening much due to the ankle. I'm still going to give it a bit more time, but may have to end up calling a doctor if it continues. So discouraging! I'm thinking it's going to be a very bike heavy summer... |

You should call one ASAP because once you admit that you are hurt and call the doctor to make an appointment you will instantly start feeling better. That is fact. My foot has been hurting since I did a 10k on new years. Haven't ran more than 2 times since. Called Friday to make an appointment, got one for tomorrow and of course today it feels 100%. |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Went to the Dr this morning. Foot is probably feeling 90% right now. He said he didn't think it was a stress fracture, possibly more of a stress strain of some sort. They did some xrays and nothing obvious came up so they have to review them and get back to me. He suggested 3 weeks off from running and referred me to a local running store that he knows works really well with runners (HA, I couldn't use that term any loser with me) and will size me up for inserts and such. He said continue to bike and swim as much as I want so that's the plan for now. |

Champion 7136 Knoxville area | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Hope you guys get the feet back to 100%! It's extremely frustrating to hear the doc say "take x weeks off running, then come back." Drove me crazy last year. Nonetheless, I agree seeing the doc ASAP is a good idea. Not knowing always drove me crazy.
Probably not the appropriate time to say I got 155miles in running this month :P |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Wow 155, that's awesome. I got a hefty 9 haha, 6 of that coming on 1/1. I'm bummed because my foot hurts and I can't run, but it's kind of motivation to keep up with this frigging Sufferfest Tour which is pushing me like crazy. Really interested to see where I come out on the other side in terms of my virtual power number and FTP. |

Veteran 421 Boston, MA | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed I ended up with 8.1M of running this month, so I'm also not doing so great in that category. Got in close to 93M on the bike though, and that was mostly trainer miles, so that's not too bad. I'm already itching for it to warm up so I can start riding outside on a regular basis. Probably have at least a couple months until that happens though. |

I think this was my first legit month of training ever really, and I couldn't even frigging run. Bike - 14:28:31 - 284 miles, all on the trainer Run - 1:13:20 - 9.2 miles, thank you very much effed up foot Swim - 4:57:46 - 14,250 yards. That's about 14,000 yards more than any month I've ever done before. Thanks everyone for all the support, responses and participation. I like knowing everyone else is out there busting their butt just like, makes me go that much harder. Time to conquer February! |

Ran outside this morning and the paths were frozen! Probably wasn't smart to do my run on them but you know... Arrogance and Ignorance = Success. |

Member 275 Cleveland OH | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Ok so January is over I got in 108 bike 48 Run 6000 yds swim My bike and swim def need some help. I feel I am just juggling soo many balls at this point I do not know how long untill one comes crashing down. I know that I can get faster at the run, but I think I need to focus more on the swim than my running right now to build a base. I swam only 600 yds on thursday and felt like I hadnt swam in months. My wife wants to go run in the morning then hopefully I can go swim, it really pisses me off when I get to the pool and they are doing those swim classes with the water weights and there are 5 or 6 people there and they have the whole pool closed down for them. I guess I need to write down when the classes are and plan accordingly. I just don't have that much time to train and when I do I have to schedule it around that.
ohh well sorry for rambiling on |

ohh well sorry for rambiling on It's tough to plan around everything, especially with the kid and all. Definitely look at the pool schedule and get a copy and tape it to the fridge so you know when you can go. My wife knows I have 3 times a week that we try and not make plans or anything so I can get to the pool. The bike and swim are great to have a schedule for but with a demanding job and a new baby you just kind of get them in when you can, whether it's late at night or super early. Good luck getting it all planned out. |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed The Tour is over tomorrow. Thank you whatever it is I believe in. Intervals, long climbs, sprints, the last 8 days have been brutal. I've never ridden this much in my life. Tonight was close to 1.5 hours. I can't wait to do something besides ride the bike. Anything. I might swim tomorrow morning and finish up the Tour at night but I don't know how well I'll be walking. |

We do our financials based on end of the year so I usually get my payday around xmas and it all goes to the fam. Leego - Hoping it's not a serious strain, just something that needs a little TLC. Me - Go downstairs and get your last bike ride in, ya sissy. |

Good luck with that. My wife pulled something in that region 4 months into pregnancy and was so upset that she had to use the olptical the rest of the pregnancy.

Member 275 Cleveland OH | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed I had a fanfreaking tastic workout today, wasnt rushed, had over 2 hrs to workout so felt like doing a lot. Swam 1800 yds in 35 mins. that time doesnt include rests. Biked 10 miles in 30 mins on the spin bike Ran 2 miles in 15 mins on the dreadmill Felt so good, went to the gym at 1:00 and didnt leave till after 3. all I ate for lunch was a Builder bar after my workout. I have been very good today ate a small meal at Bob Evans this morning and so far havnt cracked a Beer during the superbowl. But now there is a power outage, this may cause a problem. Had very healthy Lasagna for dinner. What a great day. And tomorrow is my 31st B-day so I hope I can have a great day tomorrow. Smith |

Champion 7136 Knoxville area | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Spending the next few days on the bike and in the pool. I don't think it was too bad of a pull since I still have RoM without pain and pass the tests for a serious strain/pull/tear. That said, still a bit bummed as this really puts a hamper on my running goals.
Also, probably my least favorite place to Ice. |
