In college, I took a class (required, not by choice), and one assignment was to go and look at some artwork and write about our thoughts on it, and possibly compare it to other artwork in the building. This being a Catholic college, a lot of the permanent art was religious in nature. Anyway, I go to this showing or whatever. The art is string. Yarn, painted different colors. No lie. WTF is that? Well, I look at it, and I go to write my paper, and I have 2 options: lie about it, write what I think she wants to read, or be honest. I decided to go with honesty. I wrote taht the art did nothing at all for me, evoked no emotion, and my only thought was that the space would've been better utilized by a shelf or lamp. I got an A, but when I got the paper back, the teacher asked me if I was dead inside. I'm too utilitarian, I suppose. But then, where I see creativity and beauty, most people wouldn't understand what they were even looking at.

It's not terrorist-like. They tend to be indiscriminate, and go for the biggest possible boom. That's not talent. That's not skill. Any fool can load a truck with explosives.

Watch when they implode a building. They can set up the charges and calculate exactly how much to use and where to place them to drop a building in the middle of a city, without damaging the property around it. THAT is artistry.

Besides, I was a Combat Engineer, and that was one of our primary tasks: demolition work.

I really don't. I hate having my picture taken ... so that would be like some form of torture for me. I IM with the developers when I'm testing ... and send them screenshots of any errors I can't otherwise describe.

Better than my last job, where we would get an email with a subject line stating an error occurred while doing something. That was it. No body, no screenshot, no description of the error. Nothing. I hated that job.
