JBD - 2007-07-19 1:10 PM Why can't I get motivated to train more often.  I had a good day today (compared to my past month).  I did spin class and then went and swam a mile.  I just seem to have lost some of my vigor.  GRRRRR it is frustrating.

I feel your pain, I have a similar issue but the other way around - since I am my own boss, I take the bike out for a spin rather than going to work... I became really lazy to work and I have to change that! It seems hard to find a good balance - both work and training (if you want to do it right) take a lot of mental energy and also - time. It is not only that 10hrs a week of actual activity, but when you come back, it is nice to update the log, rest for a while, eat something, chat to people who do similar things etc.

All is well Way up north in NoDak. I'm trying to stay motivated as well. I'm trying to make it to a Sprint Tri next Saturday so that is helping with the motivation. There are very few Tris ND so I might turn the cell phone off so my boss cannot get ahold of me.

I feel like I've been a slug,  Sunday I used to knock out a 50-60 mile bike and a quick swim,, the past 4-5wks, I"m lucky to mow the yard.  Even the thought of a DQ blizzard hasn't gotten me doing anything on a sunday.  Plus I haven't seen a pool in weeks..

AUGH!!

Hi folks... writing from the UP of Michigan... haven't been on computer in 2 weeks and it's killing me. I rented my bike and have been working on my hill climbs as that is what is here - HILLS. Long way from the flat land of Houston.  But I have put time in the saddle and feel somewhat ready for Copperman on Saturday if my back holds out.  Baby IZzy hurt herself this weekend - slammed fingers in door jam and hurt herself badly she only wants Mama now which has put a strain on the back... Say a prayer it holds for me.  Don't know if I'll kick any Booty sat. but I'm still hoping.  I've surprised myself on the bike here so there is hope.

I'll be back online on Aug. 12.... yeah I've missed BT!  Tille then happy racing and training.

I have my very first triathlon this weekend, Saturday.  I'm a little nervous, especially about the swim and also a little about my hammy holding up.  My hamstring has allowed me to do long slow mileage as far as running and hasn't hurt me at all in the swim and bike.  I hope I can knock it out of the park.  Did I say I was a little nervous about the swim ?  I'm nervous about the swim!!!!

Hey Everyone,
I just finished my second Sprint Tri on Saturday in 1 hr 5 minutes. I finished in 3rd in Age Group 40-49 and 3rd overall. Yeah, I'm happy & want to toot my own horn a little. I'll post the super exciting race report sometime this week. One more Sprint Tri to go then on to fall cyclocross.
Have a good last month of summer everyone.

Looks like I am a thread hog but I have to tell everyone in the group my younger sister just adopted a baby born July 15, 2007. The baby is in foster care for the next six months so it will be a litte wait to see the new nephew.

Ok everyone wake-up. What's happening out there.

My mom & niece Sylvie drove over the I-35 bridge 15 minutes before it collapsed. My mom has a huge bridge phobia. I couldn't talk to her very long because the EMS responders needed the cell tower space. My mom was heading to play Tuesday night bridge. My brother works at U of M but he always rides his bike to work & to the Tuesday bridge match with my mom's friends. Also saw my sister-in-law in action at the press conference she's the communications director for Minneapolis.

Hey emac21 is your new Atavar an Aerial shot of the Tappen Zee Bridge.

I hope all is well. I am leaving for Maine tomorrow and will have wetsuit in tow. I cant bring my bike due to the too many things already going (given wife and 2 kids) but I will also get in some runs which is my downfall anyway (if you don't believe me, look at my race report for Tri the Parks Mistletoe last weekend that was converted into a duathlon due to t'storms). So, it should be a great time. It will be fun to get some cold water training.

I hope if anybody is racing this weekend that it goes well. I am now in full training for the Oly distance next month.

As a side note for those who have been following my rants about Safari (Mac) and its inability to work with this site, I just downloaded Camino (Firefox for Mac).  It works Taco bueno.

Hi all... race is done!!!  see logs for times... limited time for reporting right now but i put a few highlights...  Booty and I crossed hand in hand as my feet were bloody but i ran her down - she had 6-7 min. ahead of me from bike...  proud of my bike time though as i have no experience on hills and my 2 weeks before hand was spent on hill work.... more later.  looking forward to heading home this week - 4 weeks is long enough to be away from home and hubby!

You guys rock!

Congratulations to you Houston-tri-mama and Bopper on your tris!

Houston-tri-mama: bloody (he, he) awesome effort on the run! Bask in the glory now.

Bopper: great finishing time inspite of lack of wetsuit and injured foot, well, we all know how fast you are on the bike, so let's just leave that one... I share your pain of sitting on the fence - in 2 weeks I will do my virgin attempt to tri.

As for me, this weekend I did a 20k run which was pretty hard, but doesn't compare to your glorious races. I envy you accomplished people...
