bryancd - 2007-11-03 4:44 PM I will just make one comment. Training is a discipline. Getting up early is a discipline. Both lead to success. Having a routine of hitting it early on the weekends helps your body adapt to racing early on the weekends. I don't have kids, but I'm up by 4-5 am everyday, going to work or going to train. Discipline is a good thing.

Yup, that's what separates the folks who are qualifying and placing in their AGs and hobbyists like me. I have no aspirations of making this anything more than a hobby and a social outlet.

Save the discipline for the bedroom...did I mention no kids?

OMG!!  "Save the discipline for the bedroom".....there is just so much to comment on here, but most of it was said during the bike ride today, so I am going to just let it lie.

I know I'm missing out on something by training alone

Yea, listening to the discipline in Harry's bedroom was enough to make my bike fall apart today    Consider yourself lucky that you're up in Flagstaff Astrid.

We're planning an early morning ride this weekend, but we still have a problem in that we have to do 70-80 miles. That's a LOONG ride!

Maybe we could try to do 2 loops of something so we could still have you come out for the first loop and re-supply when we drop you off?

Harry's bedroom discipline...Tanya in the bedroom with Josh and I *shakes head* we are a weird little bunch.

Ahhh this weekend - I calculated that a 5 hour ride at 16mph would require 80 MILES!!!!!! WHOA! Maybe 2 40 mile loops? Shoot I don't know...crap 80 miles??? I figured we would count breaks (hence the 16mph pace) and its STILL 80 miles! DAMN.

EARLY...for you Aaron...why not? I think its a given that we will have to go relatively early to cover 80 freakin miles!!!

Kewel! So who wants to draw up a 40 mile FLAT loop?

We can name this: "The Ride for Aaron" run and each pay me a small, nominal fee of $25 to do this organized event.

Here's a first stab at a 40 miler, we could park anywhere along it, Sunnyside, Jamba, Dana Park, etc.

Or we could park at Val Vista and the 202 area and do a "figure 8" type of loop doing the loop above first then an out and back on something like this:

Which includes alot of Riggs which is supposed to be good.

Hey guys,

I am in Chandler. I usually train on Riggs from McQueen out to I-10 and I love it. I make a nice 10 mile loop and it works well. The only bad thing can be the lights. I would join you this week but I am running the New Times 10K. Hopefully you all will be out on Riggs again. :>)

In fact we were west of Maricopa, and the road was actually pretty sweet if you just avoided the shoulder. The shoulder was rough, but traffic was low so shoulder riding was optional.

I'd love Riggs, since I live over here.

I could even be a "supply depot" as I'm right on the course.

Riggs sounds like it may be BORING! I am worried because I am uber ADD on long flat roads.

I say we do the two loops -

2 loops of this I mean!

But I am just going over what others are saying, I can be convinced otherwise or if someone promises to entertain me, I'll be fine.
