Happy New Year ALL!!!!
Glad to see no one was offended by the "shallow end of the gene pool" comment. I'm not the most politically correct person and I have to watch what I say when it comes to work. We have very interesting "dinner conversations" here.
Eric: In Seattle it's called a "police invol." when we get our drunks. I know most of the frequent flyers by there first names. The problem is I'm the biggest RN in the dept so I get to the bouncer and peacemaker when they get out of control. Tonight when I get to work the first thing I need to do is make sure we have multiple sets of restraints ready to go.
Sounds like everyone is getting set for the challenge, so I will have to check it out and see if I can still get in. Good luck to everyone with that!!
I hope everyone has a happy and safe new years!!!! Chris

Hi Chris!

Wow, Amy that is nice of you to say! Funny, I was showing my daughter your picture this morning while lurking on BT...You look FABULOUS darling! and IMFL in 2010 is a super goal!!! but sure we will meet before then!

Amy (SD) thanks for ALLLLLLL your inspiring words....they really do mean a lot.....I was given a massage at the Catamaran Spa in Mission Bay from my daughter. She wants me to sign up for a run of some sort near her and then use the massage after.....she's the best! so, I am looking at the races in your area...if you find one that you are doing March and after....let me know. I would love to run with (or behind) you. ;o)

Pam - you remind of my daughter...and that is a VERY good thing! thanks for all the kind words you send my way! and yes, of course you can join us in the 2010 IM...hopefully you will bring a tow rope for the swim! ;o) I will pay you back in the bike!!!

Dazzling, Sparkling, Glittery Dee thanks for inspiring me and looks like many others to challenge ourselves in Jan.

Emerson you got me beat with 56. Im a product of 57.

Chris and Eric - thanks for being the ones that go out and save peoples lives...you are heroes and often get overlooked when it comes to rewards and pay!!! ;o) Be safe out there tonight! there will be many yahoos to deal with...

Chris...you should get involved in Jan challenge. You set your own goal....Set it low and go!...

Mike - hoping you will find lots of time in 2008 to meet your goals....get your daughter involved...

Looking forward to my quiet evening with my daughter and husband. We just bought salmon, portobello mushrooms, and lots of fresh vegetables for the grill. My daughter is making cheesecake with fresh fruit topping...Bought my husband a firepit for Xmas and he has it staged and ready to light. My daughter and I just bought a bottle of Champagne and a jar of Mango for mixed drinks and we have a good bottle of wine....

You can haul my butt on the bike whenever you want.  I'll just take a nap...okay?  I'd be happy to tow you...hopefully will be even better in the water by then

I love the glitter Dee... it is amazing! Keep it up!

How does everyone feel about posting totals in anything they feel they did well this year on the board so we can see how great everyone did and how much we are going to pound it into the ground next year?  I'll start as soon as I find the numbers!

Julie,

Is there something appropriate or sad that the two 50 year olds are posting on New Years Eve?  I can tell you, Peggy and I will be long asleep before the clock strikes 12 midnight here...

Also, the Big Sur Marathon is Sunday, April 27th.  I expect to fly in on Friday and fly out on Monday.  I will keep you posted, meeting you and your husband there would be a real treat.

Well Emerson the 46 year old is posting too... It just means we are older and wiser

We are watching movies and trying to stay up until the midnight hour... My son got a new stereo and is playing guitar hero on it so sleeping right now it out!

It was a good year, but I'm looking forward to the new one...

All the jokes about us posting on New Years Eve aside, we are home safe and sound and not with the drunken lunatics that Chris and Eric are trying to save from themselves.   As I do some odd jobs around the house this morning before a seven mile tempo run, I am happy that we are ready for a new day and not cleaning up the mess of anyone's stupid behavior the night before.

Chris and Eric,  Thank you for what you do.   On March 30th, 2003 a quick thinking group of EMTs saved my wife's life.  We are always thankful.

What is even more pathetic than you all posting on New Years Eve? That would be me, too tired to stay up and post. I was in bed by 900. I got a drunken phone call from a friend on the east coast at 948. Then all of the neighborhood yahoo's woke me up at midnight screaming and lighting fireworks. Luckily the kids did not wake up!

Happy New Year, everyone!

(I would post it in glitter if I knew how!)

And here are my numbers. (I have a different setting on my control panel, so my cut and paste from logs isn't as pretty as Pam's. But you'll get the idea....)

2007 totals
Bike: 672.95 Mi
Run: 30.43 Mi
Swim: 98100 Yd

I joined BT in August, so these numbers are from Aug-Dec. Also, this is the beginning of my workouts, so I don't have prior numbers....

If I hadn't gotten sick last week, I'd have tried to hit 100K on the swimming.

Happy New Year everyone!
Dee

I'm with you Julie, let the games begin! Let's just see what we are all made of... If you think you can train and not feel the growing pains along with it, think again. It only means you are not challenging your current level of conditioning if you never feel growing pains. You definately need to know the difference between hurt pain and growing pains, learn it, use it, there is no sense in hurting yourself. But you need to push through some pain to grow into a better runner, swimmer and biker. This year is my second year for training and I plan on pushing substancially more this year and feeling much more growing pains. I want to be a faster runner, fluent swimmer and tougher biker... So let the games begin!

I hope this tough feeling I'm having right now will get me through the long runs, speedwork, lake swims and long distant bikes...

Happy New Year! There is no better time to become the best person you can be.

Let's see--highlights of last night--
*22 calls including 8 in one 45 min period
*"I see your gold teeth moving"--quote of the night from a female cop who had just told one of the many "revelers" to shut up when he kept talking.
*"Hey, are you a taxi?"--heard way too many times last night.  The drunks couldn't get a cab so they were stopping personal vehicles in traffic and offering to pay for rides home.  Sounds perfectly safe doesn't it?  Scared the crap out of me as a dad to see how many women were doing this.
*I can't tell you many barely covered female butts (literally, not just the poor wardrobe choices many of them had already made on a 30 degree night) we saw, most of them as they were drunk out of their minds and lying on the sidewalk or being carried by their male friends.
*and of course the two times I was nearly hit by a car while riding my bike last night--the first time less than 5 mins after leaving our station for the first time.  A freakin' parking valet looked right at me and then turned in front of me with a $75,000 Mercedes.  I'd have been an expensive ornament
