Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good news.....Bad news..... Good news, finished my race last Saturday with no major problems after fixing my broken spoke. Bad news, while getting my new spoke at bike shop, found crack in the rim, now I need a new rear wheel. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Question for the swimmers in the group. Since Ironman is a group sport, group being family that have supported you the entire way, and 2.4 miles being so far, I am trying to manage a way for my wife to follow me in the water. She has commented that it would be nice to be able to follow me. I was wondering about taking a regular, tight fitting arm warmer and dying it bright orange, wearing it on my arm so she can see me as I take a stroke. Should be able to pick me out in the crowd, at the rear of the field pretty easy. What do you think? The other option was to wear a head band with a survey flag attached and pulled through my swim cap. I know you think I am crazy, but it could make her day more enjoyable, and me easier to find when I am calling for rescue. Talk to me people. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all, In Los Angeles (technically Chatsworth), flights were quiet and uneventful. Services tomorrow. Been awhile since I have been back. Somethings change, some remain the same. Tomorrow or Friday I plan on driving by the house I grew up in. About to head off for a run on the hotel TM. Small pool but may try to swim tomorrow. They have a spin machine so I can do that also. Billy - no wetsuit? How about a bright pink one piece tri suit?! LRR - I enjoyed the teleconference the other day. Very informative |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hope the trip goes as well as it can under the circumstances. Pink tr isuit, you are killing me. I guess I could borrow yours!!!!!! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Billy, My sister in law talked about putting a neon stripe down our swim caps. She even talked about polka dots. I'll see if she came up with anything. Also it's nice that people can walk along and follow you most of the swim. As of now I'm still planning on the 31st ride. We are leaving for Hilton Head this Friday. Looking forward to some more South Carolina training! Hate that I missed the call...fill me in! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I guess that I am the only one in our group that doesn't have a life. I guess I am the only one that feels the need to post on our site almost daily because I am pathethic and no one loves me. Oh well. I did get another finish line today, last one before my Ironman. Y Tri in July, at our local Y. 400 yard swim, 15 mile spin bike and 5K in 59:55. Second place overall, got beat by a young punk (that could really really run). |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I get a finish line!!! did a tri... 400 meter swim/12 mile bike/3 mile run... it was HOT, I wasn't prepared, at least I finished - and although I tried my BEST, I didn't come in DFL, I beat 3 people to the finish - well, unless they were running the course again... |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I guess its just you and I Diane, congratulations. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lyoshka - 2010-07-17 6:03 PM I'm here!! Diane, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! Nicely done! What was your time? Was this your first tri? RR coming? I did a 12 miler today. A hot and humid 12 miler ![]() Thanks... it wasn't my first - I did 3 sprint Tri's in September/October last year... but I haven't really swam or ran in 7 months til last month, so I wasn't prepared... this was just a fun training-like triathlon put on by a local coach... my time was 2:02:19, and that was with an extra at least 4 minutes added on because I went the wrong way on the bike....the run was miserable... I think it was around 102*... not really worth a full Race Report... good job on your 12 miler! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lena? is that you dear. I don't believe it!!! 14 miles this morning, working on ironman pace. 10 minute miles with 1 minute walking every mile without exception. Worked well, also using race nutrition. 14.06 miles in 2:19 and some seconds. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all! Got back in last night and trying to get going today. Services were nice and had a good time visiting with relatives. Most of Friday was spent trying to get things arranged. Not much working out as I managed one run and one session on a bike machine. Hope to get something in today and restart tomorrow. Diane - congrats!!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, everyone knows about the conference call with Bryan last week right? And everyone listens to exactly what Bryan tells you to do correct? Bryan said to join the Janus Charity Challenge for the Louisville IM, and I did. My charity is the Belize Vo-Tech that I spend time at every year. Unfortunately, I am very short on time. I will need your help at least spreading the word. If you want to donate, I will accept that as well. If you need more information than is included in the letters I am going to try to attach, just send me an email. Or you could join my facebook group "Billy Mc Attack Ironman Charity Challenge" (name compliments of my daughter) and get more information. My goal is 5000 bucks, then doubled by Janus. Lofty I know but my God is an awsome God! Oh yea, since we do everything Bryan says, Bryan, tell them to donate!!!! Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all! Got a short swim in yesterday and then an hour ride on the trainer last night. IM plan called for small chain ring work, bike plan called for intervals so I did the hour but added some intervals. Talked to Swim coach and we are going to meet after one of the masters class and she will give me a quick fine tuning lesson to help me along. I need something otherwise its just going to be gutting thru 2.4 miles (but the wetsuit will help a lot). Picked up a pair of Desoto 400mile shorts. Worked well for my one training ride but will try them out this Saturday to see if they work well for longer rides. Billy - will start looking at that stuff. Right now my donations have been to United Way and to my church. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Interesting news today: 1. The Dam in the lake where they hold the IMAZ swim broke last night... They are hoping to get it repaired in time for the race... 2. They just announced a local AquaBike race... it's a Half Ironman distance - 1.2 mile OW swim/56 mile bike... I'm thinking about doing it, but the cost is WAY high for me... *sigh* |

![]() | ![]() HI All Sorry so absent lately. I have been vacationing on my days off on the Cape with my family. My parents house only has dial up...OMG...it gives a new meaning to slow!!!!! The Tempe Town Lake news has me a little nervous!!! Bryan texted me about it yestrday morning and I thought it was a cruel joke until I googled it!!!!! They say it will be fixed by Nov...but when have you ever known a govt agency to complete a job on time???If things look like they may not be fixed in time, I will consider doing Beach to Battleship.. It will be a logistical nightmare, changing flights and housing but I did not do all this training NOT to do the full IM!!! I have tweeked my knee and I am not running a whole lot, but have been literally been biking my a$$ off! Hope you are all enjoying the summertime fun!!!! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all! Back into the swing of things. Made it to masters class, pool set at 50meters, lane all to myself. Coach spent a lot of time reviewing my stroke. Definitely helped. Hour on the bike last night and worked hard, felt good. SRD for today and back at it. Looks like I am back on my IM plan. Mav - Been watching the Dam thing. Weird stuff. Thing is that they don't need to completely refill the lake but I have to agree its going to be tight. Let me know if you do B2B. We have a group heading out for this and we are searching for a Condo/beach house. So far a couple of guys from my work and a couple of BTers (Jesswah and Lo-Daddy). We can always fit in one more. Diane - Is the Aquabike part of another race? Bummer about the high price. Definitely getting expensive to race. |
![]() ![]() |
Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yes, the Aquabike is part of Silverman http://www.silvermannv.com/ It's actually the official Race of the 2011 ITU Long Course Triathlon World Championships... it's on November 7th... Mav, you may want to consider Silverman Iron Distance Triathlon instead of IMAZ if it's not ready in time... It's only 2 weeks before IMAZ and it's a great race! Thing is, they discounted the registration for the race for early registration... which the AquaBike race missed out on because it was just announced... so they are charging full price ... I would think they would discount the price a little for the next 2 to 4 weeks... It's been REAL hot here - our lows are in the high 80's to low 90's with the Highs in the 115-117 range... been real tough to get outside... been running consistently though - and without pain ![]() |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all! Had a great swim with masters class today. Only three people showed up today. Weds only 8 showed up. Lots of time to work on stroke but also push. I definitely swim faster/farther when I am with the masters class. The indoor pool I normally swim in will be closed for repairs in another week. Luckily at the same time as my vacation. May be done by the time I get back, if not its off to the 25m outdoor pool which is shallow and quite warm. Starting to get used to 50m laps. Diane - ouch, those are some pretty hot temps, take care and try to stay cool. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I did an 18 miler today. I ended up running by myself today(did I mention before that I found a World Vision group to run with?). Got it done, but was hurting by the time I got home. Ibuprofen and cold bath helped. On our way to the Children's Museum with our kids and our 9 yo nieces (visiting for a weekend). |
