FBP - plan is sound. Remember that you will not wear anyone else's medal so don 't try to run their race. Only your.

The girl scout logo only goes on tattoos of people that are as slow or slower than me.  If you are a girl and beat my time, you get a boyscout logo in yours.

It looks like I will be going to NC with my quarterback to assist with the B2B.

Wow, a lot has been going on.

Lena, congrats on yet another race and prayers for your father.

Amy, awesome bike.  I have a friend that just bought a Felt bike as well and they love it.

Billy, nice tattoo.  I think a Horseshoe (Colts) would have looked better in the middle but Drew is still the man.

Gary, another finish line, congrats.

Congrats to everyone else racing.  You guys have humbled me this year and I hope to join your ranks next year with an Ironman finish line.  All these race reports have inspired me to sign up for one.  Considering Ironman Florida Nov 2011.

Billy - love your M-Dot... don't know where Bryan got the idea that was a Girl Scout Logo in the middle? What is it? I have a lousy memory when it comes to that stuff

Amy - LOVE the bike! you're gonna be extra speeeeedy now! What's his name?

Lena - doing the Half in your Dad's memory is a nice tribute... you did GREAT

Gary - sorry about your 5k ruing your race... Most of my races go like that   Sorry about DS's soccer team not making playoffs... hope this is a better week for you

John - I'm inspired too... but it'll take a few years til I'm ready for an IM - if ever... just riding a Century is amazing to me, I can't imagine running a Marathon after that... not to mention swimming before the ride sheesh!

Pete - cuuuuuute doggy... great name too... my Son's name is Samuel aka Sam aka Sammy

I id the most miles I've ever done in a week last week... helped that I had a holiday on Monday - and Rosh Hashanah on Thursday, so I got extra long rides in on those days... ended up with 226.86 miles on my bike for the week... but 0 on swim & run... will at least run this week...not sure where I'll fit in swim, but I've gotta get in the pool again if I have any chance of a tri this year... actually, I'm working on getting a relay team together...

Diane - thanks but reviewing my race prep it was a pretty good chance that the run would be awful.  I ate like #@##$ this weekend, didn't hydrate, too much caffiene, etc.  What still confuses me is the swim.  I have timed that swim distance(and had others time me) in the pool, consistantly 17-18 minutes.  Granted it was a bit of a washing machine out there (in some countries I probably would be officially married to a couple of the guys in the swim but I won't go into it) but not sure how I ended up with my time.  My ego was bruised, considering its size it is a fairly easy thing to do.

Amy - thanks, DS's team is rebuilding this year and now plays on larger fields.  We didn't expect a lot out of this weekend.  DS scored a goal and had a some good playing time.  He is happy and that is all that matters.

I will post a better picture of the tat when it completes the healing process.  The center is a Fluer-di-lis, also used in Louisville (not just New Orleans), as to say, this was the Louisville Ironman.  You people are killing me!

Now for a serious question.  I am still having cramps in my hamstrings at night.  That is the same muscle group that cramped in the bike ride in Louisville.  Am I going to have cramps for the rest of my life now?  Irealize I am pretty old and don't have that much longer to live but dang.  Never ever had cramps before.

Help me Obe Won Konobi, your my only hope. (again a dead giveaway about my age)

Billy, a couple of years ago I had night cramps.  Every night my calf would cramp up and I would end up falling out of bed trying to walk them off.  Needless to say "Graceful as a Gazelle" is a term never used to refer to me and I ended up waking up my wife each time.  Potassium is what helped me.  I started eating a banana each night and taking a multivitamin (with potassium) and that has cured it for the most part.  With the multivitamin I no longer have to eat a banana every night (or drink OJ which has lots of potassium in it).

What I have found is that days where I drink a lot of caffiene (like I did Saturday) I get cramps at night (like I did Saturday night) and need to eat a couple of banana's or drink OJ (which I did not Saturday night).

Haven't researched if there is any science behind this or if this is just a placebo effect.  Either way it works for me.

Good luck!

Freddy - good luck!

Sooooo I was thinking about next year.  Anyone interested in coming out to do NOLA 70.3 with me?  Trying to talk myself into it, after this IM bike/swim training HIM training sounds much more reasonable.  Will see how Nov works out and may consider a full IM (probably B2B again).  May try to do less races but thats where I get a bulk of my OW swims so who knows.

Hey all!

This afternoon I headed to the pool with then intent of swimming an IM distance.  Worked out the math to 168 laps in a 25 yard pool.  Get to pool, join masters for the last of their class and then start on the long swim.  Somehome my brain remembered 162 laps so at 162 Gary was done and thrilled that he just swam an IM distance.  Not!  Oh well jsut 150 yards short, followed up with 1.5 hrs on the bike. Feel good but definitely feeling the swim in my shoulders.

Billy - bummer, oh well but B2B will be awesome!

Pete, BEST of luck at Lobsterman!

Gary, i had to laugh at your brain's resourcefulness! good job on the swim and bike!

Me.... i'm doing ok. My longest week, runnning-wise. I'm shooting for 60 miles, but will end up with 57. Shins have been grumpy, so i cut today's run 3 miles short not to sabotage tomorrow's 26 miler. Yes, you read right, we do 26 miles in training for the marathon (I follow Jeff Galloway's method). Wish me luck and keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow, if you can. I know I can do it, because I've done it before, just will be a long morning, but that's ok, I'm running with my group (Team World Vision) and it's SO much nicer than logging the miles by yourself. I probably shouldn't have been friends with Cabernet tonight, but oh well. I'll run it off, right? RIGHT?

I LOVE being a part of this group! you guys are all SUCH an inspiration!

Oh yea, what do you mean the resourcefulness of his brain?  His brain shorted him by 150 yards.  That is like doing an Ironman and stopping at 140.5 miles.  Don't enable him.  Gary, get back in that pool and swim those 150 yards!

Already did Billy.  P?ool was closed so I filled up the bathtub and got the 150 yards in.  Mainly let the current guide me but did a few backstrokes to finish with a decent time.  ?Tongue out?
