Nice job! Looks like your training routine really paid off. I'd need my bike to go that fast. Smile

aggienmmi - 2010-04-03 11:50 PM Yesterday I ran my first 5k since last July I think.  I knew I was probably going to beat my previous PR of 27:25, but I had no idea I would beat it as much as I did.  I ran a 23:23, which is about a 7:30 pace.  It was pretty much as hard as I could have pushed.  I was very happy with that time but now it will take a lot to PR again.  If I do, it will only be by a few seconds.  Going that much faster than you are used to gives you a completely different perspective on the race and on racing as a whole, its fun.

Great job!  You can probably still take a few good chunks out of that PR time with some work, but it definitely comes off in more bite-sized pieces after the first few go arounds.

Hey gang, it appears that our 'term' has come to a close as BT begins to start a new round of mentor groups.  That said, you are all welcome to stick around here indefinitely.  I will continue to maintain my subscription to this thread and will check to see if you have any questions about training, racing or BT in general.  And I will continue to follow each of you as you work your way into and through the tri-racing season.

I'd encourage you to continue to support one another and/or continue to find new BT friends with which to do the same.

The best advice I can probably give to each of you is to stay consistently active.  It'll help you in triathlons and, at least for me, can also make a big difference in the rest of your life.  The latter being far more important regardless of whether you find triathlons to be something you want to make part of your life going forward or just something to try out along the way.

Remember to always have fun!

I can't believe we're at the end already! Thanks, Johnny for putting this together and for providing advice and inspiration. And thank you, fellow group members, for training tips, advice, inspiration and fellowship. I plan on hanging around as long as possible to see how others do with their triathlons. Thanks again, Johnny! Smile

So I have to post this b/c I am just so pumped about today! Today was my first race of the season and I started with a small 5k, 400 participants. I went into the race after just riding 4 hours on Saturday and doing a brick, so I wasn't really sure how my legs would respond.

Well, some how I finished 2nd overall! I finished with a time of 19:04, but the race didn't have a starting mat to record the actual starting time. Either way I will take it, I shaved off 1:24 from my last 5k time! I just had to share the good news and who better then a bunch of race junkies.

Hope everyone had a good weekend of training.
