Member 38 | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL eliwashere - 2012-03-15 3:30 PM So, I figured I would ride my bike one last time before putting it in the bag for my flight tomorrow. I hadn't been on it in a week, got out my helmet, water botttle, pumped up the tires, shoes, did the one foot hop over the wood floors to get the right shoe (I have two pairs that are the same except one has look and one has shimano spds and I had one of each by accident). Got set up, started riding and then at the first stop sign I noticed it was really breezy....then I realized I didn't have my helmet on. So I came home. And now there really isn't enough time to go for a ride. But, I am alive, so that is good.
I though I was the only one who did stuff like that. Head to the pool without googles, etc. Glad to see it's not just me! |

Supposed to run 12 miles today but there's just no way. Gonna rain huge here all weekend too. I really need to get a couple more long runs in, other than that I feel I'm ready for my 2nd triathlon ever! |

If it is a just a head cold, no chest issues, you can still do a light workout. I think you are gonna miss the 12 miler though. Consider it the start of a taper???? |

South Florida | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL It's Monday people!! I heard from Eli (through FB) and he is alive!! lol but judging by his FB post, it was a rough race. Our HIM next month should be interesting as well.
My hip/groin is improving a lot. Went for a short run sat/sun 4miles on both days. The first 2 miles on saturday, i felt some pain, but i stopped, stretched and it went away. Sundays run was MUCH better. There is hope my run game is back! This Saturday is a 100-mile relay inluding Eli and 5 other "Funky Monkeys" (Our team name) So i'll be testing out the hip/groin saturday. Then Tuesday my wife and I are off to Paris for the week to celebrate our 1-year anniversary. Cannot wait. Although hopefully i can find some places to run. I went to a spectated a Time Trial yesterday. That was awesome to watch. I wanted to ride my bike so bad! Im def going to look into doing it next time if comes around. It's a short distance 3-miles total. So it's basically all out for 7ish minutes. I would love to see what kind of power i could put out. Anyone ever do a TT?

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL Nick, Awesome, I am jealous you went to the TT. Was it the Bill Bone one? So, I haven't written my race report yet, as we just got back last night. However, the simple version is: Not my best, not my worst. I had been hoping to get close to 5 hours, and realized my training just wasn't there. So, I was hoping for 5:20-5:40...and didn't take into account the heat. WOW, it was HOT for March. It was a great event though, and one that I would do again. More to come later. |

Looking forward to the rest of the season, and thinking an olympic might be an easier way to start next year! |

Veteran 421 Los Angeles | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL 1 week till IM Cali. have to get in the ocean this weekend rain or shine! Supposed to swim with Jim on Sunday with rain in the forecast. Not going to stop us! The body forced me to taper. Got sick, big blister on my toe that I broke because it healed crooked and because my gait changed a bit I'm having some lower back problems. Good thing Jim is a Chiropractor! Good to have friends in high places. Going to take it easy, try to live with my unplanned taper. Couldn't get the running in I wanted but overall I feel pretty good about the upcoming race! |

I'm really not that excited about getting in the ocean Sunday! The water is supposed to be around 55-57 degrees right now!Oh well, hopefully adrenaline will take over and get me through it! I've been tapering all year so not sure how next week will unfold. The foot is much better, although I went out for an 8 mile run this am and it is pretty sore. I think I will be joining you on that death march Mitch!! |

Veteran 421 Los Angeles | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL Wow, brutal race! in the 40's at the start with water temps at 56 degrees! Cold and rainy with 10 foot swells in the ocean. My swim went OK for the conditions, had 3 flat tires on the bike and only had 1 spare tube! I waited around for 20 minutes on the second flat thinking my day was over but a very nice guy stopped and gave me a tube and CO2. Unfortunately that only lasted about 10 miles till the next flat. Waited around again thinking my day was once again over then low and behold I saw the tech vehicle. Lost about 45 minutes with flats My bike was 3:50 but without all the flats I was right on track. The run was just as I thought. I had about 6 good miles in me then it was just brutal 2:28 half. Put my head down and finished with a 7:22. I am very pleased with even finishing with all the adversity. For my second Triathlon ever I still have a lot to learn! |

Member 54 Wetumpka, AL | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL Yep, drift dives, wall dives, caves, reef hooks we did it all. Good times on the other side of the world. On a serious note....Today was Day 1 of my Augusta Training Plan. 16 mile ride this morning and a 1200 yd swim tonight. The swim is actually for tomorrow but I have to go out of town for work so I decided to knock it on out tonight. As I look at the plan it seems a bit overwhelming but I just have to take it one day at a time. Right? |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL Neal, One day at a time is the way to go. The key thing about half iron plans is being consistent. You can miss a work out or two, shorten them if necessary, etc. Try to make sure to get the longer ride or run in each week, and be flexible about what you do. For me, if my friends were doing a ride on a day I needed to run, I may do the ride instead, or do a brick to get some run in. That way I get training volume, even if it isn't exactly what my plan called for.
Good Luck!!! |

Member 38 | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL Hey ya'll....my training is going well. I am pretty much sure I am ready for my first three races. So that's a good sign. I just wanted to see if you had any suggestions on goggles you like. I am down to my backup pair and need to order some new ones. I had the Swedish goggles that a swimmer friend reccomended, but they hurt my eyes after awhile. I don't think they were made for distance. Anyway....advice? |

Veteran 122 Lincoln, NE | Subject: RE: Eli's If the world is ending, I'm going to tri!- FULL i use the speedo vanquisher goggles. they come with 3 maybe 4 interchangeable nose pieces for different nose sizes and they are relatively cheap - $20 in stores, $10-$12 online |
