Last night I did a 1 mile wetsuit swim tonight n 29:44 which sets me up fo a 1:12 ironman. Weird thng is in the wetsuit my forearms get tired pretty quickly.

I did a 34 minute hill ride this morning. 6.34 miles, 2 loops. Last time did 3 loops avg speed of 10 mph. Today avg speed was 11. Apparently I got chafed last night on my neck from the wetsuit workout. Didn't realize till I rode this mornin. Guess I need cream with the wetsuit. Not bad chafiing but definitely noticeable.

8 mile run yesterday short run this morning just to loosen up and we have a bike school going on at work so I will be riding the mountain bike quite a bit, really slow rides but we do a lot of skill stuff that really makes me feel more comfortable on the bike.

Did a steady 6 mile run last night. Pretty comfortable. Awaiting my new running shoes being delivered today. Hopefully I can have them ready for my HIM next week. I am actually starting to get nervous about that race. Constantly going over split time potentials in my head and constantly going over packing for that race. First Tri in like 7 years, so I am getting a little worked up over it.

That will be a great prep race for your IM. Make sure you have your nutrition dialed in.

I make my lists starting from the prerace clothing, then prerace gear (pump, food, zip ties, etc), then swim, T1, bike, T2, run, then post race clothing and nutrition.

I volunteer to Swim Buddy at my local races and have been doing that for the past 3 or 4 years. I haven't done a sprint race in over 4 years and had mentioned to the race director that I might do one this year. He gave me a comped entry. I was just going to do it for fun, but now I am a little nervous about the race. My last few transition times have been longer than this whole race will take me but I haven't set up on a rack in years. And I haven't had to transition quickly in a while, so I will be like a first timer out there, I'm sure. It should be fun though

I was going to experiment with about 500 calories per hour, but will have to play it by ear.  Will probably make 2-400 calorie Infinit and 2 -240 calorie clif shot electrolyte drinks. Will also probably take in 1-2 Clif bars on the bike and plan on 32-ounces of Clif shot electrolyte and 2 gels on the run.

Feedback is most welcomed.

500 calories/ hour is a lot. If you can handle that amount, great. Most people can only absorb 300-400 hour. I am in the 350 range. Experiment with what works now on your long workouts. You can definitely take in more on the bike than the run, so mess with it, you may be just fine

Yeah I thought it sounded like a lot - I should probably cut it back to 350 or so. Will see what works next week.  Thanks.

WOW! What a difference a pair of shoes makes. Just tried out my new Asics Speedstar 4 sneakers I got in the mail today. Went for a 3.4 mile run and did not push myself. I was aiming for a sub 27 minute rune. Are you ready for this? Finish time was 24:18 - a 7:09 pace and I felt fine the entire time.

Big golf trip this weekend with the church, really wore me out. we had 6:40 tee times Sat. and Sunday and played 90 holes in three days, ouch. 8 miler yesterday felt pretty good by far the best pace I have ever kept on a long run, but I woke up this morning to go to the gym like always and just felt worn out. Skipped gym and contemplating a day off, may go look at anew bike this afternoon though.

Yeah, me too.

I just got an email from my buddy MikeB (from BT). He wants to do the Furnace Creek 508 this year as a 2 person relay. I just don't know if I have the climbing legs to pull this off or the free weekends to train to get myself to that point. I was going to go for a long run on Saturday, but maybe I will go for a long bike and see what kind of shape I am actually in. I have a road bike that has 32 miles on it, and I have been meaining to knock the dust off of it and ride it. Maybe I will give that bike a ride and see if I have any sort of legs. If I do, I might do that race in October. Wish me luck.

Local bike builder got some quattro assi racing frames in for the Richmond pro race team and they are not using them and he is looking at building for locals that are interested. Pretty good deal all sram rival or force components so I am going to see if he has a frame that will fit we will see, no approval from the boss yet either??

Cool congrats on the bike.

First warm up race in the books. Jerseyman Half Ironman - was hoping to break 6 hours, but did it in 6:03. Felt great and still do. Kind of weird not being in huge amounts of pain.
