Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Alrighty, got the 700 mile drive in, did a midnight swim before we left (love the swimspa) and got in my 16 mile run yesterday, best run in a while, kept it top of zone 2, but still averaged 8:08 pace. I only took 2 GU with me and really should have taken three.. oh well, good to know that I am not overduing the nutrition, if I don't do a GU at 45 minutes and then every 30 minutes there after I drop off related to calorie intake. So here are the times at a 156 HR pace. (Ya I know it is not that interesting for others.... but I have to share, no one else understands. ) 7:47 7:43 7:50 8:17 8:02 8:15 8:11 Should had GU here 8:28 Had Gu here 8:08 8:07 8:06 8:32 Should have had Gu here 8:44 Had it here 8:13 8:07 7:37 (7:05 kick for the finish line) That puts me at 128 miles... should not be a problem to finish off my goal for December. Keep it going team we are almost there!!! |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Woohoo! I bought some Zoomer's today at the recommendation of my swim coach. Oh, Merry Christmas to me! I'm so elated with the vision of the kick drills to come. |

Master 1792 | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Lunchtime swim...after eating Taco Bell. Why oh why do I treat myself like this. Had a monumental run this weekend. I ran the loop that was originally a bike goal just a few short years ago. It was my longest at 15 miles. It seemed to go by really fast. |

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Hi frosties, Been MIA due to getting stuck on the road in the blizzard in Virginia, 7 hrs in the truck, stuck on the highway Friday night... then all day Saturday holed up in hotel (with no gym I might add) and then another horrid drive on Sunday. Finally I'm in NJ. Been since Wednesday with out a run, gulp! Really needed it today, just got in a three mile shortie on my Mom's TM, I am dog tired but I needed to do something! Yikes! The holiday has not even started and I am ready for a break! Tomorrow I will be able to get out on the roads, thankfully they are pretty clear 'round here. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge 2700 yard swim finishes off my swim goal for the month and puts me at 250,000 yards for the year, 150,000 more than lsat year. It was a longer swim than I have been doing and that last 600 yards left me a bit spent. Oh well. Run goal won't be a problem, I have abuse a pleanty planned for this week. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Man, good for you Steve! Lately, I've been feling like I might of set my goals a little to high for this month. I'm making progress, but its going to come down to the wire for me. It didn't help that a leg workout left me really sore. I'm three days without running now. Hopefully, I'll feel up to running tomorrow. Thankfully, I'm on a fall back week. 2,500 yard swim today. I might try to squeeze in double swim sessions the next couple of days. |

Member 82 | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge What a month! This master's swimming has been amazing. It ended up being so much fun that I actually want to get out of bed in the morning to get there. A month ago, my workouts were on 1200-1500yds. Now I'm swimming 3500-4000 each morning. And getting a tad bit faster. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! |

Member 82 | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge You mentioned that before so it's been in my head. My arms definitely get tired as the workout goes so I try to focus more on stroke and less on speed as I get tired. I have noticed though that my left arm and right arm are doing different things. My left elbow doesn't get as high so it tends to cross over more on the entry. Do any of you have a drill to focus on making your arms the same? |

My left elbow doesn't get as high so it tends to cross over more on the entry. Do any of you have a drill to focus on making your arms the same? I had a real problem with crossing over earlier in the year. My coach had me really exaggerate my stroke to the outside (like reaching for the sides of the pool). Also, I was told to focus more on having my little fingers break the water first. This helped with the cross-over. As for the high elbows, I like to do a drill where you drag your thumbs along your side (hip, ribs, armpit) as you come forward in your stroke. This will force you to have high elbows. At first, use a pull buoy and take it slow. It will feel awkward and will make you work on balance too. |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Good morning all! Nice weather here today in California. Cool by our standards, but sunny and clear after a recent rain. Already got a morning swim done, have a pace run scheduled in a little bit, then back to the pool this afternoon. Darn, work and weather has played havoc on my training schedule this month! Spreadsheet looks good. Everyone is moving forward. Keep up the good work! |

Master 1887 Brentwood, CA | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Good morning! Just 8 more days to meet our goals! Another run and swim, plus all of the holiday busywork for me today. On a side note, I was doing some research on my upcoming marathon. Elevation profile showed 2,150 feet of elevation gain and this is a frickin' street marathon. Hahahaha... I sure know how to pick them! After this, I think all other marathons will pale in comparison. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge It turns out that 8x 1 mile repeats are not as much fun as 7x mile repeats. Oh well 12 miles puts me at 100 percent for run and I finished swim also. Common folks, Christmas is totally the season to get away from the noise and chaos of traditions of overconsumption and spending more money than you can afford for family members. Lets log some miles 8). My computer connection to the web is iffy at best so if I don't get back on before New Years, it has been fun challanging with everyone. Lets get er done!!! |

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Hey Everyone! looks like folks are getting some good workouts. Impressive considering how busy we all are at this time of year! Yesterday I got in 9.5 miles with a cold, 12F run. The roads are mostly clear here but there were lots of snow berms and ice patches to jump over. I need to get in a long run soon, so I am probably going to check out some bike paths or go over to Manhattan to run along the Hudson River in a lovely park that goes for miles along the edge of my favorite city. We'll see how that goes in a few days. Tomorrow will just be a shortie maybe on the TM or outside again if the weather stays clear. Managed to get in a little strength workout this morning, a little closer to my goal! Hope every one is doing well and HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY! |

Extreme Veteran 386 West Hartford, CT | Subject: RE: Frostbite Force - Du-December Challenge Put in another core workout yesterday while watching the UConn women beat Stanford. It's going down to the wire, but I WILL meet the core goal. As for rollers, no problem - only 2 more hours to go and I'm itching for a ride tomorrow! Have a great holiday everyone! |
