Subject: RE: Merry Christmas to Yourself Challenge

I have had a bad week. Up and down as far as my body image. One day I feel ok the next I feel like a blimp. I have been so unmotivated for the past two weeks. All I have done is some running. My bike probably think I hate her. And I have not gone to the pool in a while.

I need to get back on track! And with Thanksgiving here. Iam cooking for my entire family. I eat while I cook. I am so doomed.

I will be hitting the gym tonight and then I will get my weight. I don't own a scale for a reason, I would be on it every 5 minutes deppressed becasue I didn't lose anything.

Sorry had to vent.

Recipe:

Ingredients

  • (8 ounce) packages philadelphia fat free cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup mashed sweet potato
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4-1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup honey maid reduced-fat graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup thawed Cool Whip Free

Directions

  1. Prepare sweet potato by either baking or steaming (keeps the nutrients) and mash.
  2. Mix cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.
  3. Add eggs; mix until blended. Do not overbeat after adding eggs.
  4. Remove 1 cup batter; stir in yam/pumpkin and spices.
  5. Spray 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray; sprinkle bottom with crumbs.
  6. Pour remaining plain batter into crust. Top with sweet potato batter.
  7. Bake at 325°F for 40 minutes or until center is almost set. If you used sugar subs or just egg whites it will take longer.
  8. Cool. Refrigerate 3 hours or overnight. Top each serving with 1 tablespoons of the whipped topping.

Ox, I've seen your posts on other threads, and I have to say that you are a great motivator for others. KIU!

Thanksgiving is only one day. Christmas is only one day. The trouble is the holiday season. Everywhere we turn there is an 'occasion' to eat stuff we wouldn't normally have. Have your holiday, but only one day. You're gonna' do great!

Tiny increments, but I'll take anything. My goal before Christmas is still 165; less than my high school graduation weight, 21 years ago!

Shoeless, I love your thinking about how T-giving and Christmas are just two days and that we have to focus on the holiday season. I needed that straw to grasp...you have given me some serious motivation!

I appreciate that notion as well. I had a great summer, but a lousy fall and am back where I was in June.

If y'all don't mind I'd like to jump on in this challenge a little late.

Last time I weighed myself was friday 11/14 so I'll have to go with that weight as my start.

    11/17 - 243.6 pounds

Please excuse me while I go un-cross off one of my short term goals.

    otter_sh - 2008-11-17 6:10 AM 11/17 - 214 - Bad news from Dr office - Vitamin D deficiency - only 14 instead of normal 50.

Sorry about the vit D deficiency. What was the drs recommendation?

50,000 units 2x a week for 6 weeks and then retest.  If good go on maintenance amounts, otherwise figure out root cause.

I'm 140 again this week.  I haven't done any exercise in over  weeks but have been eating healthy.   Adding back some workouts this week  and hope that scale dips below 140 next week.

Hey peeps.  I won't be making my goal by Christmas, but I'm still working at it.  I'm weighing in at 164.5 this week.  Not bad considering the weekend I had.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

-1. Forgot to weigh-in yesterday. Bad eating week for me & recovery week, was constantly hungry and way overdid it on friday... dunno how one pound dropped, but I'll take it. 3 to go... and then 45 more! I will do all my scheduled w/o's for the week, and will eat sensibly - oh yes I will. Kicking discouragement in the arse til 1 Jan (at least)!

    Go christmas challengers go!

It is now official.  The Halloween candy is entirely gone from my house & I didn't eat a single piece.  It may be a small victory, but let's face it, those small victories add up to produce big results.

How cool is that! My daughter still has candy from two years ago, even worse we only had three kids come to our house. Do you need some?
