Funny story here~

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to try yoga at the gym.  Well that did not quite work out.  I was a little intimidated because I had absolutely no idea what to expect.  I still wanted to try it out so I bought a DVD  ~  Yoga Basics for Inflexible People.   I figured that was right up my ally.  I threw it in today and..... I learned one thing ~ It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too advanced for me!  I need to find "Yoga For People Who Just Don't Bend".  If anyone sees that title in a store please let me know.  In the mean time, I will continue my quest to get more flexible.  Actually, it was fun and I will continue to work on it.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Keep 'em coming. Got the MRI today. Now just need the ortho to tell me something tomorrow. Kind of an "iffy" appointment because I may not see him at all if he stuck in surgery. Ankle feels better each day that goes by. But I haven't run on it since a week ago Sunday. Aqua jogged today and am hoping to ride the trainer tonight.

I guess I officially started the Sprint to Oly Bridge training plan this week but had to shuffle around some days because of when I'm able to get out and bike.

Hopefully once the weather starts to warm up some and we get more daylight hours I won't have to shuffle around the bike days anymore.

I think we'd all like some warm weather!

I am officially NOT STRESS FRACTURED!! Yay me! I have been given the green light to run the half mary on Saturday. Ortho told me to use my pain as a guide. Even though I wouldn't be causing any further damage, he believes there is no sense in running so hard that I have to take extra recovery from the race and further delay my IM training. So if it feels good, I'll be running. When it hurts, I'll walk

He thinks it is from a combo of things. Worn shoes, increased volume, and me "tweaking" the ankle on an 8 miler right after Christmas. All those things together made my tendons unhappy. Will see him back again on the 24th to see if the things are still improving.

Hey everyone!  Happy Friday!

I think this is the first time I've been able to check in on the thread in about a week.  Between work, school, training, and life in general I have about zero minutes of free time every week!

We're getting a teaser of warm weather this weekend.  If the roads are mostly free of ice/slush I may even be able to get outside on the bike.  Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather man isn't telling me lies!

Tomorrow, I'm finally getting the chance to make the one hour drive to the specialty running store.  I may even look at getting some new cycling shoes while I'm out shoe shopping.  I truly dislike my current shoes -  they're a little uncomfortable and totally not my style.  Why do they make women's shoes so...girlie?

Anyhow...hope everyone is doing well and training hard.  Have a great weekend!

I've made myself sick I guess, was swimming the past few nights and would leave the YMCA with my hair still wet or not dressed warmly enough or something ... but started feeling real achey and sluggish last night ... woke up this morning and didn't even want to get out of the bed.

Terrible headache, sore throat, feverish feeling .... I'm so upset because I was really looking forward to this weekend with the warm weather ... was going to do another 10 mile run and bike 25-30 miles .... instead I'm sitting here shivering under the blankets and getting all jacked up on Nyquil.

I went to the YMCA this afternoon to sit in the sauna and steam room ... hoping to sweat some of this out ... also had to stretch a lot ... I got my legs so tight and knotted up the past few days that my feet actually starting feeling numb.

I think is was Thursday night I was swimming and toward the end my calves and feet started cramping .. but I kept on going ... until finally I had to stop.  I had to sit on the side of the pool a few minutes trying to get my feet to straighten back out before I could even stand up ... my feet were curling up and my toes were pointing up toward my face .... so I was trying to push them bac out straight and stretch them ... and every time I did my calves would cramp and grab me ....

So there I was see-sawing back on forth between trying to stretch out my feet and my calves ... as soon as I'd get one to let go the other would grab me ... anyhow ... according to my training plan I was also suppose to run ... so guess what genius here decides to do??

You guessed it, I went running on the treadmill and was able to get 1.5 miles but just couldn't stand it anymore ... was cramping again so bad ... so anyhow .... I've beat myself up the past week and now I'm paying for it.

Guess I'll be chilling this weekend.   Cry

Why is it so hard to give our bodies a rest when they are screaming at us that they need it? Hope you feel better soon, Kevin.

It is drop dead gorgeous out there today. I m recovering and think I'm gonna stick to my trainer because I don't want to put even a teensy bit of stress on my tired legs. Just gonna spin for a bit in the little ring to move some of the spent lactic acid out of my muscles.

I ran my half marathon. I got a PR for me : 2:00:34 so close to my long term goal of under 2 hours. I really thought I had it it, but not quite. I am stoked because I was so close even with all my issues. So I'm on the road to recovery again. I am stiff and sore, but don't feel as bad as I did after my 14 mile training run.

Hope everyone is out enjoying this faux spring weather

I got outside for a run today, too.  It was only about 40* but so much better than the crazy cold we've been through this winter.  I haven't braved an outdoor ride yet.  It's supposed to be 60* on Tuesday so hopefully I'll be able to get out there.  I'm still trying to decide a route that allow me to avoid the potholes.  Some of the streets are so bad I'm afraid I'll break my bike!

Sorry Kevin about your illness.  Everyone I know has been sick lately.  Luckily (currently knocking on wood) I have avoided it.  Actually most people has this virus that sticks with them for 3-4 weeks.

Congrats to everyone on the workouts and especially to Pam on the 1/2 marry.  Way to go!

I was able to take advantage of the nice weather with a 25 mile ride.  Swim and 5 mile run tomorrow and another 25-30 miles on the bike on Tuesday.

I love the pool. I did a 45 minute aqua jog then an 1800 yard swim workout. Even though I felt like I was dragging a lead weight through the water, I felt so much better after the workouts. I could walk normal. It really helped loosen up my tight muscles. Ahhhhhhh.

I had a nice run today and it's 71 degrees!  I did 6.5 miles but only planned on doing 5.  I should have stuck to my planned distance.  Oh well.  I had a good stretch after and currently have the ice pack on my leg.  I am contemplating a strength workout at the gym.  Swim and ride tomorrow.  I have been lacking some good longer distance swims lately so, I'm going to try to go without flip turns or pushing off the wall and get in a good 2.5 - 3K straight.

I had a fabulous ride outdoors today. Took my tri bike for a ride. I do love that bike. Rosie the roadie is sweet, but Sir Velo and I are just made for each other Gotta love riding in shorts and short sleeves in February. For you Northerners, I'm sorry

Ha Ha, I know what you mean....it has been in the Mid 70's here all week!  Feels like springtime!  The big problem is being stuck in the office and in court and by the time I get home all the daylight is gone.

I got in a good one too. I went for 30 miles.  The wind was so strong!  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, 70 degrees in Feb. is great for training!  I was eyeing that 09 P2C at Carolina Triathlon today too!

It may not be 70* but it was still warm enough to get outdoors!  I got my first road miles in for 2009.  The roads were damp and covered in grit from all the salt/sand they put down last month.  Once I got home, it took me 10 minutes to clean the piles of sand off my bike.

It felt good to get in an outdoor ride but, holy wow, am I out of cycling shape.  Between the wind and the hills I was really feeling it.  I may just have to man up and get out in the cold weather once a week.

Yeah. It is really a shock when you haven't been riding outside. Especially with the wind. There is just no way you can simulate that "shimmy, shimmy" feeling indoors

It's hump day. How's your week going?

I think I'm recovered from the half mary. My aches and pains aren't very pronounced today. I got in a 2 hour bike ride and a 2200 yard swim. Tomorrow is either aqua jogging or a very easy 3 mile run. If I can get out of bed without doing even the slightest version of the chicken walk, I will try running. But if I take one lurching, bacak step, I will aqua jog.
