ilucy2 - 2009-08-19 4:03 PM Did a bundle of searching while crying in my coffee this morning. I think it must be bursitis of the hip. All of the symptoms are the same. Asked the pharmacist what to take, and he said Aleve. I used to product on a headache once with no relief.....tried it anyway. AHHHHHHH, almost good as new! This could be good, maybe some rest, ice and a bottle of Aleve and I will be better in a week. I only have 2.5 miles of run and a few cycle sessions to complete the goals this month. If I do light spin, I will be able to do it. I am still signing up for the race in Sept, only the 10k, not the half.

I hope the combination of rest and Aleve helps!

Don't forget to ice it! I have bursitis in my hip and when it flares, holy !%&$. If you can afford it, massage therapy also works wonders. Good luck.

Check out my new toy!  Just picked it up with my wife today! Got out of the shop at 6:30 and then did my workout on the old bike.  Hopefully tomorrow I'll take it out for a spin!

ilucy2 - 2009-08-19 6:50 AM The morning is not good. Having a serious problem with my hip. My BT PT guy said I needed to go to the doc, whatever is progressing fast.

Been there, done that.  Got the T-shirt.   Ice Ice Baby!

Also, it is like mine and is ITBand related then ART is a great treatment.  Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Ergh, screwed up my commute in tonight. I commuted to work in the middle of the day for a meeting, but it was super short, so was planning to commute in tonight (nearly perfect weather). Thank goodness I realized BEFORE I got here that I had no clothes to change in to! Just makes me mad because a ride would have felt really good to work out the last of the kinks (except my dang arm that is having sensory issues ).

Oh well, still trying. Gonna try to do a run this afternoon, but I have to be careful of my knees. Also have to call the hospital to figure out some scheduling stuff; hopefully that doesn't take tooooo long.

Icky-POO!!! That sucks! Hopefully the ice, rest, and Aleve will solve all life's problems...or at least this one.

disturbed275 - 2009-08-19 9:40 PM I ran today.  To my surprise the legs felt pretty good.  I'll keep the runs short for the rest of the week to make sure I'm good and recovered before hitting the long stuff

Nice! That's a pretty speedy recovery, isn't it? Good thing you aren't burnt out - I read so many times of people who just can't seem to get back into the groove.

*sigh* I'm behind in everything but biking. I didn't think about how little I'd be able to run this month. Oh well, doin' what I can!

Well, if I didn't have a marathon coming up in 6 weeks it might be a little hard to find the motivation.

I'm forcing myself to go to the pool tonight even though I don't want to.  If it wasn't for this challenge I would probably skip.

It has been 11 hours since last ice and Aleve treatment, and the hip feels better. Maybe some tenderness deep, but not flaming like the other day! Will do alittle spin on the bike to loosen things up and stretch agian. Followed by ice and Aleve. Sooo a few of you have had this issue...how long does it last and should I be able to do the race in 4 weeks?

We had a team mate BozNC get in a bad bike wreck so I put all his current numbers to his goals to make him 100% instead of pulling him off of the team - he was already in enough pain

If anyone thinks this is unfair - PM me and I can delete him - but he would have hit 100% at the rate he was going anyways unless something unforeseen happened (like this bike crash).

I hope this is alright with everyone.  Let me know if not.

Also - give him some inspires to help in his recovery please.

Thanks Bill...hope he's o.k.

Ha, that'll do it! Good job getting to the pool, too - isn't that why we DO challenges, to keep us coming back for more?
