Hope everyone has had a productive Friday.  Had a great 1600M swim this AM.  My back feels much better.  Amazing that ICY HOT actually works.

I am currently trying to juggle my schedule and switch weekends with a partner so I can go to Haiti from 3/19-3/26.  I am an ER doc and my wife is a Family Doc and we are trying to go help in a clinic in Port Au Prince.  Keep your fingers crossed that I can get it all worked out.  Wonder how OWS in the Carribbean is this time of year?

Hello Everyone!
Happy valentines day. How is training going? My week honestly kinda stunk. I am writing up a plan today to formalize what I should be doing.I wrote aplan for someone else last week and realized I needed to do the same for myself just to give my training some organization. We'll see if it works.

OK last day of Superbowl challenge.  Got in my 11 mile long run this morning on 4 1/2 hrs of sleep.  Happy VD everyone.  Hope all is well.

In response to the previous post, I absolutely can not get motivated without a plan.  I get a bit rigid once I have one, by I really do not get OTD very well without something written down.

It has been busy around here....we are in the process of buying a house.

the weather today was nasty...cold and wind blowing hard...tried to run outside but the wind was way too strong!

Ended up on a bike ride about 10 miles longer than i wanted to...took a wrong turn!

My coach should have my training schedule up the for the next 4 weeks by tomorrow so then the fun begins!

I am excited to see the results of the two weeks!

Great job everyone!

Great job on the run with little sleep!  I agree with the motivation.  I look at the calendar to see what I have written and I am usually able to do it.  Without anything there, I fumble around and don't get much done.

Hope you and your wife are able to go to Haiti. It is compassionate of you both to use your gifts and talents to help others in need.

Good morning everyone,I started my training plan yesterday andit is so much better having a plan instead of shooting everyday from the hip or based on "how I feel" Good stuff. It was a bit of a learning curve writing it all out but hopefully this will help keep me moving in the right direction. It looks like we are looking for another competition????? Well I was thinking about this a bit and how about this for an idea. Why don't we just have acompetition for consistency. Any day with a workout over 20 minutes counts. Lets go for two weeks and see which team can get the most "days" in. The only stipulation is that it has to be a swim, bike or run. Extra time elsewhere doesn't count (shoveling snow is a workout  but sorry it won't count)  Shall we keep the same teams? Each team member that does their workout for a day gets a point and we shall add up the points at the end of the competition and see who wins. Lets start this saturday so everyone has a chance to check in and put their thoughts up. What do you think????ScottDid anyone try the transition stuff yet?

I like it!

Although I must apologize up front to my teammates - i am heading out of town on sunday for a conference in DC, so working out will be tough...but this will give me that extra little motivation to go out and do something!

Hit the treadmill at the hotel for 20min every morning.  It will make you feel great eating bagels and pastries at your conference.

In!  Got my slackin' off butt out of bed this morning for the first time all week.  Swam 1,000 yards in about the same amount of time it took me to do 750 last week.  I have noticed that my stamina really isn't as much of an issue the farther I get into the workout.  The first 200 yards are killer, though.

All kinds of other news as well.  In a rare moment of commitment, I paid for a yearly pass to the aquatic center this morning.  No more trying to come up with $3.18 every morning; no more excuses.  I will be swimming a mile by the end of next month.  Also, I got my jammers in the mail today - now to see if I can squeeze into them.  I had to order them a size small because they didn't have any in stock in my size.  I also bought a sports counter to keep up with laps, as I am already forgetting where I am about halfway through.

Great idea for our next competition, Scott.  Looking forward to it.

Great job on the aquatic centre pass...it does take the hassle out of using the pool. And on the days when you go, and it just isn't going to work that day, you don't feel like you wasted your money.

Jammers came in the mail...alright! Got your goggs all set too? You are READY...one mile here you come....great job!!

I may not be as helpful on the daily workout challenge.   I did the December Peach challenge, and found daily workouts to be difficult.  I do a run program of 3x a week with 2-3 crosstraining sessions of swim or bike.  My old knees and back cannot handle more than 3 days of running a week.  I will do my best.
