pdbman - 2010-06-20 12:07 AM So no more lazy training for me. I swear I was the slowest one on the team. I did pass a couple of people but I was getting passed right and left. I will work harder and train smarter. I won't just go out for a lazy run when I go running. I will have a purpose and I will work harder.

I have to apply those same principles to my bike training. In a race I did last summer, I only passed 2 people -- and they were walking their bikes.

I'm back. Felt like death for a few days. Nothing serious, just a random sick.

Went to the pool yesterday to get back into things and my daughter wanted to go with me. I told her that I'd be doing laps and she'd be in the open swim area all by herself, but she really wanted to go. So we went.

She decided she wanted to swim laps, too. So even though the lap lanes have a minimum age and she under it, I asked if she could share with me and told them that if more lap swimmers arrived and people had to start doubling up to let me know and i would kick her out.

She did a few laps, I gave her a few pointers, she did laps with the kickboard, she hung out at the end of the lane. Even though my workout didn't call for chatting between sets, it still worked out pretty well.

When I finished we went over to the open swim area and played with the pool noodles and animal shaped kickboards.

We'll see how bad today's weather is. Maybe I'll get in a light ride.

Got a quick OWS in today followed by a short Mtn Bike ride.  Planned 6 mile run tomorrow.  I've got my annual Physical Fitness Test coming up next week for the Marine Corps so I am trying to not burn myself out before that.  Once that is done I can turn up the volume on my workouts.

Good luck on your physical fitness test. I enjoy pushing myself but have never enjoyed these kinds of tests. I don't like the external pressure to perform.

I am the exact same way.  I can do pull ups, crunches, and a 3 mile run any day of the week, but for some reason I alwasy worry about the actual PFT.

Ok, now that I blew a whole week off being sick, I should hopefully be able to double up on enough sessions to catch up.

They allow adjustments to you goals for sickness/injury. Don't overdo it trying to make up for a missed week, you don't want an injury.

Can't believe this. Its 9:30 here in Utah and I'm the first one to post for the day? Are there some massive internet issues affecting the east half of the US that I'm not aware of? Where is everyone?

So I was working on a whole page to myself the other day when my family got home. Had everything all planned out in my head, it was going to be an easy page of post padding. Now I don't remember any of it.  Oh well. It wasn't anything but post padding fluff anyway.

I haven't updated the spreadsheet yet.  Will do that tonight when I get home.  It was a great weekend (awesome long bike ride on Saturday morning, went to the Phillies game Saturday afternoon, sensational Father's Day yesterday)... loved it!  Today is my taper week for my race on Sunday.  No workouts today.

billsorg - 2010-06-21 10:48 AM  Today is my taper week for my race on Sunday.  No workouts today.

I think my taper leading up to my race was a little too easy (no running at all for two weeks prior). I went out of town and didn't take my running shoes. I won't let that happen again.
Good luck with your race this weekend.

Now that I'm home and my race is over, I need to step up my training and get on track with my goals. I'm ahead in some areas and behind on others.

Hey everyone. Let's see if we can get the spreadsheet updated so we can get an accurate idea of where we are in this challenge when they post the weekly update. We have ten days left including today.

Working on a family team for next year's Wasatch Back. Can you imagine a team of 12 runners made up of just siblings and spouses? And that's only half of us. Can you say "big family"?

I didn't get a bike ride in yesterday, but I did get the laundry caught up.

In fact, I haven't been on my bike in over a week--not since Thursday June 10th.

Today I swam and I run/walked. I suppose it would be too much to try to sneak in a ride. Frown I need to make sure I find a way to make that ride happen tomorrow.

Off to update the spreadsheet...

Yes, I'm aware of that.  I'm not too worried of injuring myself just by hitting ~18 workouts in 10 days.  Shouldn't be too bad really.

I'm doing a very MINOR taper.... still going to get in a few hours of training.  My A-race is in September.  But I also really like this weekend's race (and plus it cost about 200 bucks!), so I do want to have fresh legs.  I would call this my A-minus race!

Week 3 Challenge Update!

Team Bill -- Check out Bill's progress! He's biked 1181.79 in June!
http://freedomtour.opwc.org/

Team 3 - 56.9%
Team 2 - 53.7%

The month is now 70% over -- and I think that Bill is blowing away both teams by miles and miles!

"They" would be "me." I was a little late with the weekly update, but it's done now.

Then again, "WE" aren't winning. Therefore, someone needs tasering. And it's not "me."

Let's see. Whom shall we taser tonight?
