Nice little bike ride during lunch. Not necessarily looking forward to the run tonight though. We'll see how it goes.

Good morning team.  Another long drainer ride this morning.  Third day in a row.  I was planning a long run but didn't feel like running in the rain.  Rain is moving out today, so I'll do the run tomorrow morning.  With all the trainer riding, my DVR is pretty much devoid of anything watchable.  Maybe time to jump on Netflix again.

I found a group of guys that does an OWS once every few weekends at a lake about an hour away.  I should be able to get in a few non-wetsuit OWS's before my next race, which is a relief.

wgraves7582 - 2010-07-14 10:04 AM Swim and run in Baton Rouge yesterday.

Same planned for today but only at my local Y instead of a new one but I get jealous of other facilities when I travel - indoor and outdoor pool - sweet!!!!

Good morning, Bill!  I'm with you on that.  My Y is pretty much a dump.  But it's right across the street from work, so the convenience outweighs the oldness, dirtiness, smelliness and grossness.

Artemis - 2010-07-12 7:43 PM 5k done today.

Nice swim!!!

Ha..I wish!  It was a run.  I forgot I had a race today.  Swimming on Wednesday.
A 5K swim would be awesome! No way I could do it though.... That's a Longggggg distance.

Lol, I'm so bad at training for the swim (I do like to swim, but never do it), so I was thinking after my HIM, I might start training for this 5k ows race in September.  But it's mainly a no-wetsuit race, so that kind of scares me Embarassed  I could choose to use a wetsuit, but then I'd feel like a wimp if no one else was wearing one!  We'll see - there's also a 2.5k option if I wanted, and that shouldn't be too bad since it's not too much longer than a HIM swim.

You're not alone! ... I have my first no wetsuit race coming up in mid August (water temp will be over 84, so no wetsuits allowed at all).  The Philly Tri last month was going to be my first no-wetuit race and I was very anxious about it... then tragically someone died during the swim in the sprint race and the Olympic race was switched to a Duathlon.  So you can imagine my anxiety level now.  I did a race last year that was a non wetsuit race (but temp was <84, so they were allowed), but I wimped out and wore mine anyway.   Lots of disapproving looks and comments from lots of people.  As I sit here and type this, I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about my no-wetsuit swim that's more than a month away.

I think you have plenty of time!  I just did my second no-wetsuit OWS last night, and it went much better than my first one!  Of course, I haven't ventured past a 1/2 mile, but mostly because it starts getting wavy the further out I go.  Hopefully a few more, an I'll be able to tackle the mile swim!  (Then 2 miles, then three... GULP)

I think I'm going to remain on the slacker list for the month.   I didn't get my long run done due to lack of childcare.  Now, my hip flexor is sore so I skipped running yesterday.  I'm not going to drop out, though.  My cruddy performance is not going to hinder a team.

I AM A PROUD SLACKER!!!!

We have a newer one but I get envious of certain aspects.  I certainly like our wellness center but I want a 2nd lap pool for our facility!!!  Is that selfish?

That's not selfish at all. I really like our gym but I do have a dream list of things that would be nice. 1-Weight room is too small for the number of people that use it. 2- The locker room could use an overhaul. Its getting gross. 3-Another lap pool. I went the other evening and swam in the outdoor pool. 8 lanes and they had anywhere from 1-4 people per lane. Its been especially busy since school is out. Still, its the largest (except for the weight room) and cheapest facility that I am aware of and its in pretty good shape.
BTW-They are talking about an overhaul of the facility next year. Larger weight room is on the list, among other things.

I'm feeling really guilty today. I didn't get my run in yesterday. I had some stops to make on my way home last night and by the time I got home, I spent some time with my son and then it was too late. I figured time with my son is more important since he is going off to school in 36 days.

The Y in my town is planning a 6 million dollar expansion.  With all of that, would you believe we STILL won't have racquetball courts?  zero.  none at all.  What do we get?  The $6-million project will include expanded and improved parking, a new gymnasium, day care area, larger fitness center, new locker rooms and a "tween" center, as well as expanded office space, meeting rooms and multipurpose room.  Yeah, no mention of updating or improving the pool.....

Don't feel guilty, Paul... family time trumps exercise time!  My wife is getting a little peeved at my exercise regimen.  I'm a morning person and get up anywhere from 5-5:30 and bike or run.  Add in a lunchtime workout and by 9:30pm, I'm completely ready to crash.  Since our kids are on summer vacation, they don't go to bed until 9 or 9:30... that allows for very little alone time.  It hasn't become a big deal... yet.  But she's made a few comments. Undecided

Did a 5 mile run last night - temp was mid 80's and the humidity was mid 60's.  That sure tuckers a feller out.  (at least it did this one)  I am to do XT or rest today.  Since I didn't get up this morning and do it, and I'm giving blood after work tonight - it will be a rest day.  tomorrow is scheduled to be 1 mile repeats.  Egads.  I've never done mile repeats.  Somebody say a prayer for me!

I want a pool in my backyard. I don't think that's selfish.

(I also don't think I'll ever actually *have* a pool in my backyard. But I have lofty goals and aspirations. )

It cooled down here last week to the low  to mid 90's only problem was the humidity went up to like 60-70%   Miserable....

Do you mean alone time or ALONE TIME?  If it is the later, you probably need some COJ therapy...
