Well my plan of hiking and running in this beautiful weather was ruined by having yo sub at school today. So I settled for a one hour spin class this evening. Better than nothing, but certainly not as fun as being outside!

Totally Rad Workouts from yesterday and today:

Yesterday: Ran 35 minutes, Swim 750 (all drills per orders from my coach)

Today: Body weight strength routine in practice. Squats, lunges, bridges, planks, a bunch of core stuff. Right now it seemed like fun but I'm sure tomorrow when I can't walk up stairs or laugh or sneeze cause I'm sore I'll love it even more.

Does anyone have experience biking in NYC? Any specific things I should look out for to make sure I don't become street pizza? I know some people who ride up the Westside Highway and over the George Washington Bridge, just wondering if anyone else has done this and what their thoughts are.

Finally made it out for a run today.  I've been fighting a head & chest cold lately, but started feeling better yesterday. It was a slow run for 4 miles and had to take a walk break for about a minute after three miles.  I just couldn't catch my breath. Apparently I'm not completely over the chest cold, cause now I'm back to wheezing. I was planning on getting on the trainer tonight after class, but I'll have to see how I'm feeling.

Foggy, I even logged todays run.  When you look at my logs for the last two weeks, it's not that I have been lazy about logging workouts, it's that I haven't been working out due to feeling like crap.

To log your workout just click on the "Training Log" at the top of your page. Then scroll down to the date you want to enter (in the center column) and click on "Training". It takes you to a detailed page where you just enter in times & distance for each discipline you worked out, and then hit save. Once you save, Foggy will be able to view your workout by just clicking on your profile, I think.

I haven't been logging my workouts either, since I'm not doing tri-specific workouts yet. This forum is still helpful because I learn from all your questions and think of questions of my own!

For all you MN-locals, has anyone raced the Brewhouse in Duluth or any other races in that area? The Brewhouse is the first week of August, and it's my first lake-swim. Am I gonna need a wetsuit??? It can be crazy hot in August, but at the same time, Duluth is always cooler than the Twin Cities...the swim is NOT in Lake Superior - it's outside the city on a golf course...

Swam for 50 minutes this morning. No idea how far because I lost track during practice. Lots of drills and concentration sets to focus on form.

Have had a better training week this week than last week. The weather has been so beautiful that I was even able to get my bike out on Monday for a ride!

Swam last night and it was the best swim I have had so far! My heart wasn't racing and I wasn't out of breath! In fact I didn't even have to stop to catch my breath at all and I swam 1600 meters! And if that wasn't great enough, someone asked me for tips on swimming! Tongue out

. In all, I pushed out 8 miles in 55 minutes and loved them all!

That's a cracking pace, I've been challenged on a 10K mid March so going to push in some sensible speed work would be over the moon to hit a 7min mile but will thank the gods to hit a 7min15sec mile.

I have done NOTHING all week due to this cold, serious withdraw symptons but have planned 2000m swim tomorrow and my usual 10 mile run on Sunday (will be doing this distance for the first time withmy orthotics).

Got my wetsuit today, just need a cape and I can head into town and save a few damsels in distress...

Finally starting to feel better.  Made it to the pool this morning for 2500m. Felt pretty good, I managed 1500 at 1:33 pace.  The rest was drills.  When I got home this afternoon I was still feeling pretty good so I went out for an hour run.

Not sure yet what tomorrow is gonna bring.  There has been some talk from a few of my riding buddies about getting outside tomorrow for a 60 mile ride.  If the weather holds, I'm in.  You don't get many chances of outdoor riding in Michigan in February.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Half Marathon Distance 13.1 Miles in 1:44:42 (7min 59sec pace)

Went out this morning for my first 10 mile run wearing orthotics, the run was going well so well infact I decided to stretch it out another 3.1miles.

11th mile I had to dig deep, rain was coming down hard and my 8min pace was slipping then I realised I'd set my virtual racer for a 7.59 pace which meant I had 33 sec more than i thoug...ht this gave me the strength to push on.

One of my goals this year is to run a 1:45 half so I'm well chuffed that its with in my grasp, even more chuffed that I done it in my orthotics and my ITB issue hasn't raised its ugly head in over a month

I know the feeling been really frustrated with this chest infection but seem to be coming through the worst of it.

What way are you working out your pace 1:33 over ?

1:33 per 100 meters with a 10 second rest between. I swim in a 25 meter pool and hit lap on my garmin 310xt every 4 lengths. I used to try and count my laps in my head bit if I'm not doing drills I loose track after about 300 meters.

That's good swimming, I must see where I'm at next day in the pool.

I think I was doing 1.30 for 90m but blow out after about 500m at that speed, hate counting too the garmin 910 looks like the dawgs but too expensive for my pocket.
