Welldone Foggy that was criminal I was thinking you were a bit of machine!!

We had a local sprint event which I went to watch over the weekend 600 people and it was great, felt really intimedated to being with but half way through the swim I thought I could do better than most.

My tri training has really took off now

- Sat 3 mile run (7.08) 750m open water swim 14.10

- Sun 20 mile cycle (1200ft climb) open water swim 16.15 (on my own)

- Mon 3 mile run (6.48) 800m ocean swim and I came first out of 8 people

- Tues 11 mile cycle (600ft climb)

My ocean swim and my cycling is being done on my oly tri course in Aug.

Calf seems to be back to normal now after 2 weeks recovery, although my ITB on the bike is still a presence. I'm getting in an hour am & pm recovery which includes hams, quads, itb, hips, glutes stretches, roller and ice

Starting to feel like an athlete First tri 1st July hopefully I see an improvement in my itb on the bike if not I'll know I'm not getting to the root cause.

11 mile on the bike this morning (600ft climb) knocked off 2min 40 sec and had NO ITB pressence!!

This was a great outing as it showed my recovery is working on the problem.

Was hoping to hit a sub 20 min for 3 mile this weekend, but gale force winds outside

we'll see...

Looks like you two are training and racing well!

Had a race the last weekend (foggy, you've already seen it but race report here: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=446429&posts=2&start=1)

My quads are pretty sore so i'm taking a few days off but then back to training.  My base training for my 2nd half marathon of the season start in July and they days inbetween (off-days) will be used for my bike training.  I have two A races coming....July 22nd a duathlon and Oct 14th is the half marathon.

Boy does the season FLY by.

FoggyGoggles - 2012-06-18 8:31 PM How'd it go Robbie?

We had gale force winds on sat but I went for it any way, pulled up at 2 mile with 6.29 pace as I couldn't force myself through it any further.

Sunday went for my longest open water swim 1200m in the ocean, followed by  a 26 mile cycle with a 1200ft climb   both my itbs are giving me jip but I'm controlling it.

Not to be defeated I will try again with the sub 6.30pace for 3 mile this weekend, I know I can do it!!

Sadly my bike looks good but it's too much bike for me to handle.

I work on the bike when I should be working on the ENGINE!  Oh well...it's my new hobby where I dump my money into.  I'll be painting the aero bottle black and changing the aerobar tape to black as well.

I'm new to cycling and obviously new to carbon wheels.

So here are my two cents:

I find that starting from a stop is harder.  More effort is needed to get going.  I'm having to get used to cross winds.  You defintely feel the push to the side and it's weird at first.  The good part is that I once I have a good speed going, it is easier to keep it going and easy to stay at that pace.  Based on the normal route that I take, it seems as though i've picked up a bit of speed but not HUGE.  The wheels feel lighter than my stock TTR wheelset so it's great going through transition just picking up my bike with ease.  Most of all, I love the way it looks and when I look at her, i just want to ride her.  I guess that's the most important thing.

Back to training today.  Got 20 km's on the bike and a 5 km run in.  Nice recovery run for me.

Swam my first 1000m in the lake without stopping yest evening, just over 19 min

Also got a 4 mile run in and an 11 mile cycle,  no ITB pain so recovery and short distances are working just fine.

11 days till my first Sprint Tri, looking forward to it.

Over the moon with my first Sprint Triathlon, I surprisingly placed 30th this morning out of a field of 152 in the Belfast Titanic race coming in @ 1hr 16 min 03 sec

I also got the privelage of running with my sister Samantha Spiers, who done amazing to lose 50lb weight this year whilst and having to contend with Fibromyalgia and arthritic hips to finish her first sprint triathlon - proud as punch what a great achievement.    Av cadence 99 20.4 mph, run 7min 3 sec av.

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile.  I thought that this group disapeared because I couldn't find it in the mentor group forum.  I didn't realize it had been moved to archives.

Looks like everybody has been doing awesome with getting in some races and some nice results.  Congrats gang.

I've had a one sprint and two olys with some decent results.  Getting a few nerves for my first HIM this weekend at Muncie.  It's gonna be hot.
