OK folks, here's my race schedule for the rest of the year, if you are interested.  It should be fun and should add a lot of finish lines to the total.

April 7      Oak barrel half mary in Lynchburg TN (with my daughter!)

April 14    Moving for Missions 15K in Petal MS (Youth group from another church in my town going to  Belize vo-tech)

May 5       Cinco-de Tri-o  sprint triathlon, Hattiesburg MS

June 2      Heatwave Classic  sprint triathlon, Jackson MS

July 14     Sunfish Sprint Triathlon, Meridian MS

July 21     Training ride in Louisville in prep for Ironman Lou

July 28     Heart of Dixie Triathlon, Olympic distance, (this is the longest running triathlon in the US that is still held at its original location, kinda neat)

August 26  IRONMAN BABY!!!!!!

October ?  Mighty Magnolia Sprint , Hattiesburg

What do you think?

Billy, Your schedule is rocking the house.

I actually got two as well. I did the Rosedale 42 miles on Saturday with Briana, and then another 60 to complete my monthly century challenge. Sunday I also "ran" the Cap 10K -- MUCH slower than Briana, but still not slow enough to have to pick up the cones.

I will also be WAAAYY behind Briana on the LoneStar 70.3 - did I mention the cyclist's perspective on triathlon?

"I have to swim to get to my bike; I have to run to get to the BEER!" -- maybe a quadrathlon, if you count the 12 ounce curls at the end.

Lena - one of my fellow IronHeart Racing Team runners did the Shamrock - wearing the orange and black racing colors with the flying pig on the shirt front.

This group rocks!!

Congratulations Briana on your 10k and Bike Ride.  Good Luck on your HIM this weekend, sounds like you will have it in the bag.

Lena - Congratulations on your Shamrock Shuffle

Bryan - Congratulations on your RnR Dallas HM

I like your thinking Patrick!  People think we are so weird to do all that just for a beer    but the beer taste so much better after a race.  Also congratulations on your 10k and century ride.  Good luck on your HIM.

Kathy;

The short answer is "If I can do it, ANYBODY can do it!" -- I can give you all kinds of reasons I can say that.

The longer answer is: Your race calendar and training plan WILL get you there! Don't look at it as a 17-hour race... look at it as 3 events. Break down your day, your training, your nutrition. You know enough about what you need to do to HAVE a plan. Whatever you do, focus on the enjoyment of the journey to get there, not just that day by itself. Appreciate the support - from family, friends, other athletes --THIS crazy bunch...

it IS a fun trip, take my word for it.

Everyone freaks out at some point.  Take a deep breath.  It will be ok.

I don't know if you are working with a coach or just picking a plan to follow, but the important thing is to follow the plan.  You will miss a few workouts (lets face it, life gets in the way) but try not to miss the big workouts.  If you do 90% of the workouts you will probably have done more than most people.

Listen to your body.  Eat well.  Sleep alot.  Let go of what isn't important, but don't neglect family.  I finally made the rest of my family start washing their own clothes during my training.  Just that one little thing was so freeing.  However, I refused to miss a kid's soccer or volleyball game so if I had to rearrange my schedule, I would.

The other thing I think is important for first timers is to not set any time goals.  If you think about it logically, there is plenty of time to get it done.  Even with a 2 hour swim and and 8 hour bike, you still have 7 hours for transitions and the marathon.

Deep breaths.  One day at a time.  You got this!

Kathy, you can so do it!!  If anyone on this site can, you can.  You have awesome speed. Don't let your head psyche out your body.  It's is more mental then physical, although it is very physical.  You can train your body to LRR, left right, repeat.  Keep it simple and keep to the program.  I am so excited for you.  I hope I can aspire to a full IM in a year or so.  Inspire me girl!!

Thank you everyone!!!!!!  Smile

I believe what is really getting me down is that I am not adjusting to riding the aero position yet.  I am having a hard time steering it and I would freak myself out and jump up on the hoods.  You should have seen me today yelling at myself to relax and after a car would pass me I would say, see that wasn't so bad then a gust of wind would hit and up I go.   Today I picked a loop that was basically level and little traffic, and I couldn't convince myself to relax and stay in position the entire time.  I can't even image being in the aero position going down hill or up a hill.

Thank you guys for keeping me in line.  I know I can do this, especially with all your support.

Juicing progress?  Waiting for more updates.

Today is day 18, down 16.8 lbs. feel amazing, sleep like a baby, very alert and really feel more in touch with my body. For Shamrock Shuffle, I made a sweet potato/ carrot/ apple juice and ran on that. Had tons of energy for the 8K! Then had a green juice afterwards.

Evenings are easier now, and everyday is a little easier. I can def see myself doing this at least once a year for 30 days and several shorter ones...

Kathy - real concerns real world but let me ask you a question. Are you doing an Ironman that REQUIRES you to ride aero 100% of the time? (your answer is no). So sit up when you want. Period. You might even see "regular" bikes out there. No one says you have to be aero. Is it a bit faster, yes. Easier into the wind, yes. Required, no.

Your freak out time is now officially ended. . . . . . Until the next one --- and we'll be here for that one too. Rock on!

Hola peeps! I've been lurking while the ankle heals, its been about 6 weeks now and I am finally walking pain free without any kind of brace. If the weathers nice this weekend, i might give it a go.

See all of these finish lines and race schedules makes me antsy to get out there.

I'd like to try the juicing thing but sadly i'm probably too lazy, so I need to convince my wife to do it so I can sneak in and reap the benefits as well....probably not the best approach but for now its as motivated as I'm going to get for juicing.

Cheers!

I am confused, is a potatoe the same thing as a potato?  Laughing

As for as the juicing, I have been doing a "modified" plan and have lost 4 pounds since Sunday.  Still have about 11 more to go to get to my race weight but I think it is working.

ummm ...  a Potatoe versus a Potato....  a Potatoe is significantly larger and provides more Juice in the juicer!!  Thats my story and sticking with it!

Good Job on the weight!!

Now... if Lena wants to Juice one of her Cakes.. that is one juice I would definitely go for!!!!

Darth Maul cake juice - are you sure this stuff will make me faster?
But it looks just like tomatoe juice or is that tomato.

Bryan... i did, however.. run 5 miles yesterday and 4 miles tonight!!  My two longest distances/run times to date..

I had split pea soup with lean beef sausage slices in it, so it still LOOKED a lot like a juice!!
