I can't stop munching on seaweed. It's so delicious! There has GOT to be some sort of joke about seaweed muncher, but I am too hungry to come up with it right now.... Nope. It's just that Manatees munch on seaweed all day. That's what they do. And that is what I'm doing. |

Once in a while I cave and I agree with you that it's a physical as well as emotional sickenning. x2 Whether you eat the cake or not, the desire will pass. So you may as well not eat it and feel better and healthier. |

Macca is doing Cairns IM - cannot wait to see him in action, hope I finish the half before he finishes the full...it's gonna be close! Cannot wait to be on the finish line until midnight cheering on the age groupers. So special. Will cry buckets. No training tonight, listening to the body and it says have a beer. So who am I to disagree. Swim squad tomorrow. Hubby now has my cold but his version is of course 100000000 times worse.... LOL! What do you expect when man-flu strikes? |

But we finally have a topic I can weigh in on. My abilities with medicine are questionable at best, so I'll stay out of that, except to say "rest and vitamins". I owned a diner for 10 years, spent more than that as a line cook. Fish eyes, seaweed, Rocky Mountain Oysters, etc, here is what I do know. If it is salty, dip it in batter and fry it at 350* and it's all good! Not healthy, but yummy. If it sweet, do the same, then cover it in chocolate. One of my fave savory meals (thank God you can't get it here and I'm too lazy to make it) is Southern-fried steak and eggs (with biscuits and gravy, of course). Let's see ... that would be fat, dipped in fat, deep-fried in fat, served with more fat that's fried, with a carb that's mostly fat, and all of it smothered in fat. What's not to like? |

No, that's not bread. It's two slabs of chicken acting as bread. |

EEEwwwhhhhKate: the pic from your hike looks awesome, thanks for sharing! TJ: yeah, life has a way of throwing curve balls. You have a great base, you should be fine. Even if you can squeeze in a short workout in the place of a long one, it is something. Jo: so cool you and Macca will be at the same venue! And glad to hear your cold is improving. The other Jo: yes, food and weight are such a struggle for me, too. Definitely up the veggies and fruit. Not only are they generally less calories for more bulk, but they add fiber which is good as filler and also to, uh, keep things moving. I'm currently in a diet slump, too, which I know is tied to my post-race slump. My motivation is to be leaner so I can be faster and healthier, so I try to imagine how much easier running and biking [up hills] will be if I can drop 10 lbs. or so. Kirk: I am SO hungry for Nutella and PB on waffles thanks to you! Chris: Never tried deep-fried Twinkie but I do know that deep-fried Oreos dusted with confectioner's sugar is sinfully wonderful! Allen and Yanti: you can keep your chicken feet and fish eyes and whatnot! The area I live in has a good deal of weird foods some of which absolutely turn my stomach just at the smell. Scrapple. Puddin. Tripe. Head cheese. Blech, I gotta stop. I'm making myself sick! |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty MAD MANATEES Part 2 -- Full Pod Wow, I am so abnormal...I tend to go for the healthy fare more often than not...the exception being my breakfast---3 eggs(scrambled), 2 strips bacon, 2 multigrain rolls w/real butter....Ok, I guess overall its not too bad. My main issue is my not eating enough veggies...I am too lazy to prep them. which is sad, cause I LOVE broccoli, brussells sprouts, carrots, bell peppers, asparagus, tomatoes, and green beans....stupid laziness. Oh, just remembered--my mom promised me fresh green beans from her massive garden today! YUM...I guess I'll be cooking them tonight....or this afternoon. Today's plans: grocery shopping visiting the parents, picking up a scale for work, cleaning my house (Its SO been needing to be done!!), and a run later...but thats all.... And its my last day of 4 off. Sad Kate--I like my job and all, but I REALLY like days off! Oh well 2 days til my inking! |
