Should make for an interesting run this afternoon. I'm going to break out the Yak Trax and play in the snow. What's on everyone's plate for today? Actual workout today. Couple hours on the trainer and a 25 minute run while the Texans are on TV. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED Just over a foot of snow here in northeastern part of CT. Very easy spin on bike this morning for 40 mins. Knee and nerve felt good. I just can't put much resistance on it yet. Average HR. a whopping 111. Whoop hooo. Few more weeks. Oh, lots and lots of shoveling, already done. I'm may order the Triumph 10's in yellow. Thoughts? I'm a HUGE fan of Kinvaras. Triumphs are essentially Kinvaras with extra cushioning. I don't know that there's a reason why you would want extra cushioning (and weight) in a shoe. |

Veteran 580 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED We got got lots more snow last night (about 12-16 inches over the last couple of days), so today was spent snow blowing and sledding. It is really windy here and the temp is around 15. So with all the new snow, winds, and temp, I am going to be forced to run on the treadmill (8 miles) again tonight. I feel drained thinking about it. |

Bad news is my 5 year old who is the size of a 7 year old looks to have out grown hers. I'm going to get her off her training wheels and then upgrade her. |

The amount of sweat lost. The amount of work you are actually doing. Thought I would do another today ... Kelly knew my legs would be screaming, so upper body workout today. maybe some core later. |

I am a big fan of Aiscs Nimbus and switched to the Saucony Kinvaras earlier this year. You will love them! It's like running with nothing on your feet. I will say though that as my miles increased the past few months, I did switch back to the Nimbus for more cushioning. ETA - I just bought the Brooks Pure Flows, and they are very comfy minimalist shoes. I like them. They seem to run a little large, wish I had ordered 1/2 size down, but I like them. Kelly - I have the Kinvara 2's, and have read some not so great reviews of the 3's. Have you tried the new 3's? Thoughts? Edited by karen26.2 2012-12-30 8:17 PM |

Could you give us some direction as to what you do now, and in season, in regards to strength training. Eliminate it during season? What days do you incorporate it? Hard days, easy days, non swim days? |

I am joining you guys on whole 30 but will not start until probably the 3rd. I am reading through the book and website now but I am sure I will have questions. If it goes well the wife is going to try next month which I think will help the whole household if we are on it together. |

Extreme Veteran 826 Bristow | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED I have been running in ASICS DS Trainers or sky speeds for a year or so but I think it is time to move to more neutral shoe. Just need to head over to the local running store and get fitted for some. I love ASICS but any other suggestions for those that used to use ASICS? |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2013 (Year 3!) - CLOSED Bone head move of 2012. Well not 100% my fault. Half way through my shower this morning, water turns ice cold. You guessed it. Ran out of oil. Apparently the company I use for automatic fill went out of business, and never filled me up. I don't think I was charged. It's freaking 24 degrees outside right now. Ughhhh. Can't get some one out here until late afternoon. Bundle up kids!!! |

I generally find that cushioning just serves to increase form issues. A neutral shoe almost forces you into better form while a cushioned shoe acts as a cast and lets you feel better (in the short term) with poor form. |
